If it wasn't for OSX I'd ditch Apple in a heartbeat! Apple's stubbornness with their pricing is what will prevent them from becoming the Microsoft killer that their OS could be.
Another useless post, Apple will never be able to overtake Microsoft in marketshare, never unless they change the whole strategy of the company.

Ugh glossy screens, yuck. I have some friends with MBP's with them and I hate it. I'm not buying an Apple laptop if it has to be a glossy screen.

Are there any other first-adopters who are nervous about the hardware quality. I was a first-adopter of the first gen intel MBP and I experienced nothing but problems. First, the logic board was broken (does anyone remember the high-pitch buzz?), second the heat burned out the keys at the top, and now the combo drive seems to be dead. I haven't yet fixed the keyboard or the combo drive but plan to when I get a new machine. Oh and I want to say that my battery was completely useless within the first 6 months.

I love Apple but I am constantly being burnt by adopting their new toys early. My Time Capsule arrived DOA. My Cinema Display had its price reduced within 2 weeks. My $599 iPhone was reduced to $399 within the next two months...

For the love of God, I am nervous about making another purchase!
Others have said it well:
  • Don't be an early adopter, wait for Rev B, always
  • If you are, for the love of science get AppleCare, not doing so is suicidal
That's been true of most apple products (esp. laptops) since the ibooks/powerbooks era, so it's not like it's breaking news.

Not only that, but it will be disappointing if the only way Apple can reduce retail price is to offer a new model, and offer the old model at a cheaper price. If Apple wants to maintain the sales momentum, they have to compete on price at some level, and competing doesn't mean cutting the price on old technology...

I think the prices are made up, and that's just websites trying to get web traffic. Offering 17" OLD MBPs?! Offering the bottom-end white MB 2.1 GHz but a NEW MB with only 2.0 MHz?! No way. Someone has got to be talking out of their butt.

Sub-$1000 MB!

According to my pretty reliable sources, sub $1000 MB is definitely going to be announced. Only thing is it's not going to be available immediately for SALE.

You will see in @ 3hrs.

I just had to come here and add my voice to those dismayed about the apparent lack of a Matte finish. Now the whole world is stuck with stupidly shiny surfaces that displays over-saturated colors.

I'll probably have no more reasons to buy a pro with this update... good job, Apple.

Has anybody heard something about a update of the MBA?

I mean about the availability tomorrow :D ?

Let's say the NVIDIA chipsets do make the new 2.0 ghz notebooks faster, the AVERAGE consumer will say, "hey wait a minute", and I'm sure Apple knows that....Then again, I think processor speeds did drop slightly when Apple made the transition to Santa Rosa, as did the cpu cache size from 4 MB to 3 MB...so what do I know?!?!?!

now we watch people frantically neg this for glossy only screens... :D

Now I'm watching myself frantically neg this for taking away a handful of crucial options and features across the line that made these things as useful as they've historically been, only to provide dubious stylistic gains, and overall reduced value in general.

I mean seriously - how in the name of god are these to be considered an improvement, when much has been lost?

If this pans out to be true, Apple just ruined my Birthday :(

$1300 for a MacBook? Ugh. Better call everyone and tell them to cancel getting my Apple giftcards as gifts as I may just go buy a Toshiba or HP at Best Buy now.

I really hope these rumors are wrong.

resell value of the white macbooks just went up a little? similar to the 2g iphones went up a bit when the 3g came out??

Same with my current (soon to be last) gen MBP.

I said this before. Apple has notably changed their policy with leaks. Could it be that Apple is flooding the interwebs with fakes to throw us off? It would make more sense than all these freaking rumors!

Link Alive

can someone post the link where i can "watch"(pic. and all happens) alive ?
thanks

No, I think glossy screens look a little bit better, too. Glare sucks though.

hmmm maybe the black trim around my HP's screen cuts down on the glare....maybe that's the reason the new macs are black trimmed. I don't really notice glare

+1

I find it hard to believe that they are going to release a 2.4 macbook as their high end model and that it will be 1499. What would be the motive for an upgrade for someone like myself who already has a macbook but doesnt need to upgrade to the MBP. I think there has to be some outlining factor, blu-ray possibly? dedicated graphics? either way I can't imagine Apple not offering something else.

and no 17'' model? or matte finish for those Pro owners?

weve got to be missing something!

Oh, don't I look beautiful

I have a MBP with a glossy screen and prefer it to matte, but the iMac glossy is not the same as the MBP glossy. I returned my new iMac because the reflection gave me a headache. If that picture is true I will have to join the chorus of glossy haters and keep my current MBP.

And no 17"? boo. Sell AAPL cause it's going to nose dive if these rumors turn out to be true.
