I did. It's a consumer feature, only wanted for an end user watching movies, not exactly a pro feature for people using their computer to actually create contents.
I was under the impression that colour reproduction etc was a lot better on the glossy screens. The main reason you'd not want a glossy screen is if you were intending to use it with a very bright window behind you, or outside in the sunshine.

Frankly if you're using it outside in the sunlight or with a bright window behind you, then you weren't serious about your image editing etc or whatever you were being a "pro" editing.

I'm very happy with my glossy screen for when I'm editing my photos in Aperture.

Well people have been complaining about this one thing ever since I started reading the discussion. It doesn't make sense to drop the speed of the processor at all to me. Plus, the updates haven't even happened yet. It just seems too much like a typo to me. I'm sure people would complain if it were the real deal. All I'm saying is it might not be true, since there are a lot of rumors going around, people shouldn't jump to conclusions and complain nonstop until the actual update happens.

Well, CPU frequency isn't everything, if they had faster FSB, increased cache, and changes to the CPU architecture, they could be faster even at lower clock speeds. That's why we had over 3 ghz Pentium 4's but we just barely hit 3 ghz on Core 2 Duo chips last year, it all has to do with heat, architecture, and other variables!

"hey wait a minute", and I'm sure Apple knows that....Then again, I think processor speeds did drop slightly when Apple made the transition to Santa Rosa, as did the cpu cache size from 4 MB to 3 MB...so what do I know?!?!?!

that was intel doing that they moved from 2mb and 4mb to 3mb and 6mb also the slower cpus are better then faster older ones.

No thoughts on this, huh?

I thought this for a second, but it seems to me its more like websites wanting to create a buzz and get web traffic so they makeup stuff. I mean, chances are some of its true, like the cases and at least one of the pics from that JR person.

Exactly. Good riddance. More room for the rest of us who are sensible and not believing this entirely.
I'm just having a laugh at these dudes, they base their whole expectations on a bunch of rumours and then cry when it's not what they want. Apple hasn't even annouced anything yet but they are crying because of rumours.:D

Any last minute hope on a better card than the useless 9600M GT or GeForce Boost being enabled to make the 9600M GT and the integrated GPU work together?

Because so far there's about a 1% improvement in graphical performance over the old machines.

Yeah, it's completely pathetic if they didn't upgrade it...but I'm not really surprised :(

And you can't use the integrated GPU with it as it wouldn't boost anything. That's just for their ultra-low end GPUs as I understand it.

What's the problem with a glossy screen? One word -- the glare! Easy enough to eliminate on an iPhone by tilting it, but not so easy on larger screens.

If the glossy thing is true, they are gonna lose a lot of pro customers...
Why glossy? It's useless, but I guess... it's shiny...

Ugh glossy screens, yuck. I have some friends with MBP's with them and I hate it. I'm not buying an Apple laptop if it has to be a glossy screen.

My partner switched to Mac in August of 2007 and he had a hard time finding the matte screens. He had to go to two-three stores to find one in stock. The reason? Everyone hates glossy screens! Matte was in such high-demand that you couldn't even find one. With that type of data (at least in the D.C. area), I am surprised Apple wouldn't release the option. Supply and Demand is an easy concept and I doubt it is one that Apple would ignore.

Nope. It's not better, it just appears more contrasty and saturated. But it's unnatural color to be sure and not really great for photo or video editing.

horrible. horrible. horrible. i'm counting on all these rumor sites that mirror each other are WRONG!

no 17 inch redesign but spec updates.... come on. ridiculous.

Then why are engadget and John Grubber calling the new MBP a "graphical powerhouse" :/ GeForce Boost allows a GPU and IGPU of a similar strength to work together via. SLI, but this isn't available currently on the 9600M GT as there isn't an IGPU good enough... maybe the 9400M will be?

I just cannot comprehend why they'd put a 9600M GT in there and not a 9650M GT when the latter is cooler, smaller and more powerful.

It better be BTO...

If there is a 9700M GT BTO then I will **** my pants and pay £3k for it.

Bummer... I'm going to be in class during the "media event." My classroom is in the basement and cell service is very spotty. Damn. :(

I just hope Apple does not remove firewire from the Macbook's. That would be a very poor move on there behalf.

It's the other way around.

They did upgrade it, but from 8600M to 9600M, so not exactly thrilling

That's for the current MCP73 whose IGP is ~9100M, the MCP79 should be ~9300M~9400M.

I doubt it's going to happen anyway, but there's a low chance.

They're absolutely not new, they were posted 1+h ago on appleinsider.
