I've never understood how Samsung can sell a ridiculously large number of devices in any range of spec, but Apple can't seem to bump the hardware on a comparatively puny number of devices.
That's interesting but you miss one important point.
It's not that Apple can't design the hardware. The suppliers can't make enough to keep the supply chain moving.
If you can't make enough, you get frustrated customers and horrible sales numbers until the suppliers catch up.
Apple is better off waiting until they can keep the channel full and not have shortages. The only group that benefits from shortages are the pirates.
