On the more-thing website they just put up an iphone 5 section. Looks like the iphone 4 from those cases they're showing. At first I thought they were just showing iphone 4 cases on the page, but that case they're showing isn't available for the 4...hmmmmmm...

Oooh! Perhaps you just determined the reason for the taper?!?!

I thought about that as I was typing it. But still looks pretty thin up at the top (judging by photo of the case with the iPhone 4 resting in it). I dunno. I just want something announced so I can jump on it or realize I'm gonna be waiting for something else to come along!

Not sure why you quoted my post, you didn't address anything I said.

The link you provided is amusing, thanks!

Where did I say I expect a "warmed over iPhone 4" in that post? After a longer-than-usual amount of time between new hardware, I'd hope it's more than just a refreshed iP4. Which is another reason why I don't buy these cases...they look Just. Like. The. iPod. Touch. Except a littler larger, and may or may not have some sort of 'taper' from top to bottom on the back side depending on which case you look at.

You seem to expect a fresh design for the next iPhone, why would you believe Apple would go backwards and use the iPod touch design (or something so dang close to it)?

So the theory about these knock off companies risking losing all this money is bogus. They aren't producing anything until someone orders and pays.

So I guess the next step would be to show me some confirmation that retailers are out there buying bulk quantities of these items and I'll be closer to believing this is what the phone will look like.

Which is why i posted that link.

If someone can go up to a 3rd party kiosk at a local mall, and pick up an iPhone 5 case, then clearly the case manufacturers are making a lot of them. There is a degree of confidence they have in the design, and it's prevalent due to the number cases which are being released.

Mind you, you won't find as many iPhone 5 cases as iPhone 4s on websites like alibaba.com at this moment, but surely that all the iPhone 5 cases look identical means something. It's also difficult because they named it differently, like "iPhone 5G" or "iPhone new 5" or "iPhone 4GS".

I never said that you expected a "warmed over iPhone 4". What i got from your post, was that you were speculating whether this was enough proof, and if the "bigger iPhone" rumor would hold true.
I was merely pointing out that a warmed over iPhone 4 wouldn't make sense right now, that's why we expect a big upgrade.

Regardless if they go to an iPod Touch-like design, it will still be a redesigned iPhone. I also believe that it depends how the product is made, as if the edged are a bit more rounder then it wouldn't have the iPod Touch feel, and would have a thinner 3G-like feel to it.

If this case is actually for the iPhone 5, I will be highly disappointed. :(

I like the current slab/slate look of the current iPhone 4 and don't like the curved edges the case purports as being for the iPhone 5. I don't want no 3G/3GS iPhone design, it's ugly IMO and part of me believes that Apple wouldn't go 'back' in terms of the design of the iPhone. I also don't like the tapered design which other rumors have suggested to be featured on the next iPhone. It looks OK on the Macbook Air, but lets just leave it at that.

I know I sound as though I'm some child wanting this and not wanting that, but I had to let off some steam somewhere and hope I'm not the only one that feels this way about the rumoured design features.

Come on Apple, show us some flesh of your new iPhone :D The rumors we have are not solid, we're picking up tiny bits of information that are very weak and we're reading into these information too much to the point we're not confident in these little information we have. It's driving us crazy and the longer your keeping us in suspense, the more likely it is I will be admitted to the local mental hospital or switch to Android. I think I should stop reading any more rumors and just wait till the keynote. :)

:D

This means no more bumper cases right?

That really sucks, this round of iphone cases (for the 4) have been the nicest out so far. Going back to a 3gs type design would mean we have to get full body cases right?

This was my concern too. I like the bumper for the fact it provided grip on the iPhone 4 without adding the bulk of a case.
