I like The Beatles well enough, but I'm no huge fan. I've had all their music that I care to have in iTunes for quite a while, and I don't feel the need to buy it again in lower quality. Almost anything else would be more deserving of this announcement.

So how many albums can we sign you up for? Oh, wait... You what? Oh... You didn't wait around for iTunes to pick up all of your beatles music.

As others have said- Non event. For those asking, that's why people are voting negative. It's not that people are angry about the beatles, but simply that apple got everyone all worked up over nothing.

If there's exclusive content I'm buying it TODAY.

Anyone wetting themselves for the Beatles might want to go dry off, I doubt it's the Beatles (more like hope) simply because Apple should use this to introduce something more meaning full to the entire iTunes community, not just Beatle fans.

I'm a huge Beatles fan myself but I'm hoping it's something a lot more interesting than their songs coming to iTunes. :D

I wonder if Jobs held out from ever putting Beatles on his Mac/iPod/iPhone so that he could get it from iTunes.

I really like Apple's products and software, but I'm getting fed up with their over-the-top, propaganda-style attention grabbers like this. And I like the Beatles' music too, but to say that I'll "never forget this day" because of some Beatles related announcement, or *any* announcement Apple could ever make, is totally absurd.

I'm betting there is more to this...

While the Beatles on iTunes would be big news, it wouldn't justify the hype on Apple's site the past 24 hours, since most Beatles fans already have their music on their iPods.

It WOULD, however, make a great tie-in to another huge announcement.

Does it really matter? Noooooooo
Your life will either stay the same or get better because, hey, you can download Beatles now!

I honestly can't understand why people are so angry at this... I wouldn't expect the negatives to beat out the positives 9/1... But that is crazy people for you:rolleyes:

Are you going to claim the classical geniuses of the 1800s aren't as relevant and older 50 years now ?

Seriously, album sales is a metric of hype, nothing more, nothing less. It is very much a facet of pop culture, something not all genres ascribe to. Step out of the pop realm for a while, and you'll see that The Beatles are not all there is to music.

VenusianSky
Even Jobs has ripped their songs to iTunes/iPod. Just watch the video on 9to5.

Personally I don't care too much about the Beatles but they are undeniable a part of our culture. And one should be able to buy just about any music from the iTunes store so to have the Beatles there available is good news.

By the way, did NASA choose a song from Chuck Berry over the Beatles to be included on the golden disk on Voyager I ? :p

He's had it on the demo units at events.

Exactly,

I'd hate for Apple to use this much hype to introduce a bunch of Pink Floyd albums, or Beatles, or Bone Thugz n Harmony, or any other genre of music/music group that iTunes has neglected.

If they do, meh.

But I wouldn't mind something more meaty.

Yes but that doesn't mean it's not the Beatles thing - they could be using that to launch something else at the same time (here's hoping!)

Whether we like it or not, those are the people who make Apple the money, because there are so many of them. They are more important to Apple than the few obsessives and they will probably be more interested in the Beatles than most of the other things that have been mentioned.

Think about how many people learn about new Apple stuff from YOU (us) long before Apple PR ever reaches them. (hint: we ARE Apple PR)

We probably sell as many Apple products as Apple does, when you think about it.

I hope for Apple's sake there's more to this than just the Beatle's or I'm not going to believe hype like this again. Any one that's a fan of the Beatle's already has all the CD's ripped into their iTunes collection. No one has been sitting around for the past 7 years waiting to buy their songs in iTunes.

I have. :)

I don't see what the big deal is. People who are already big beatles fans have all there albums on cd and probably imported them to iTunes by now.
