I thought I might have made the wrong decision when I got my 6+. For a few days I thought it was monstrous. Now when I pick up my wife's 6 it feels too small, and when I pick up my daughter's 5S I wonder how it was even useful. The 4S and below just feels ridiculously tiny now.

I am going for the 42mm :apple:Watch for the screen size AND for the extra battery life. I've got a friend with the 360 and while it's nice looking (better than any Samsung anyway) it's so BIG on his wrist. Because of the size and shape it also looks extremely thick.

Exactly the point I'm making.

Why are you wearing a Nest thermostat on your wrist?

That's the biggest difference between Apple and the rest. Somebody at Motorola actually signed off on mass producing a circular watch face (which isn't necessarily bad) that is massively out of proportion (bad) and has a display that isn't a complete circle (really bad!). And the worst part is that he probably still works there!
Do you really feel the Apple watch is better looking than the 360? The shape of the Apple watch looks like the calculator watches for the 80s.

The moto 360 face is fine but they need to better design the way the band connects with the watch head. My current watch is as thick as the moto 360 but the band connects higher up and there is arching of a couple connected pieces to the head that make it look very flush. Whereas the moto 360 is a circle with two connections at the bottom. The lg g watch is a better fit

Personally, I find it far more refined. I'm over the conservative "a smart watch HAS to be round like all watches!!1" - and if a rectangular might remind some of casio calculator watches, so be it. Others are obviously reminded of the Nest thermostat -apparently to the degree where some member said that it's not even original anymore...

Yeah I understand what you are saying. I don't think the Apple watch is ugly, but I also don't think the moto 360 is either. I prefer the round to the rectangular design, but that is just me.

Where could they possibly get that idea?....

The Moto 360 is hideous, it's really terrible design. I don't care that it's round, although a round face makes no sense for a smartwatch. The fact is the 360 looks dollar general cheap. The tacky gold ring around the side button...the way the bands attach underneath it...the fact that it is absolutely enormous...the fact that the screen display isn't even 360°...the fact that text gets cut off...

It's a testament to the fact that software and hardware must be designed together, seamlessly.

Dollar general watch? Really that is what you are going to go with. I get that you like the Apple watch, but it's far from perfect. I will stand by my statement that the design looks like a Casio calculator I had in the 80s. The Sport versions aluminum looks like garbage to me. When you think of a watch you think either plastic, stainless steel, or Gold. The finish just does not look good. The button below the digital crown. It really has not purpose. Oh and the biggest crime of the AW is the price. Sorry but the AW is not made out of enough stainless steel to cost $600 base, or enough gold to cost $10,000 base. This is just a joke. I really like Apple, and I really wish the AW watch was better, but they missed with this one.

First of all, I said nothing about the Apple watch. I said the Moto 360 is a terrible design on multiple levels.

As for the Apple watch... the button below the digital crown has multiple purposes, it quickly brings up contacts, and also quickly activates Pay. They didn't miss, they are the only smartwatch makers that get it. That will soon be seen by the number of sales and the copying that follows by the other companies.

Tried on a Moto 360 to gauge a size for the :apple:Watch.

Decided to go for the 42mm as its 4mm smaller in height than this Moto 360 and about 1mm thinner.

Wrist size 160mm

That thing looks like a hockey puck. Not only is it huge and ungainly, it looks like crap. And people wonder why the smart watch market hasn't taken off huge yet, haha.

By comparison, a Rolex is about 11mm thick (12mm for submariner models).

Wow, is a Submariner really only 12mm thick? The Sea-Dweller (old style, NOT the much larger Deepsea) is 19.5mm thick... I always knew the Sea-Dweller was thicker than the Sub, but I didn't realize it was THAT much thicker!

EDIT: D'oh! Never mind. I obviously don't know how to use calipers... SD is 14.5mm. Now, that seems more like it! :p

Yeah you did not say anything about the AW because that is the watch you are getting, and you are a Apple fan. I mean your comment at the end tells me everything I need to know. I hope you enjoy your perfect smartwatch IYM.

Frankly that 360 is hideous in person. Have you (those who think otherwise) seen AW in person? Worn in on your hand? No? Never? Well I have and I have a news for you: AW is a lot (and that is understatement) way more polished, thoughtful, well crafted, and beautiful that any other smart watches. Unfortunately, it is true. Ask any journalist who have gotten the chance to try it on during the conference.

I have seen videos of Youtubers that went to the event, and they are sticking with android wear even after seeing the AW in person. That tells me all I need to know.

Sure you love the design, and think its super refined. I believe it might be, but I can tell you one thing its not. Its not $300 better than android wear. It just not. I don't care what anyones says. Its a gadget first, and a watch second. No watch that last 3 years tops is worth $600. It may be super refined, but it's completely overpriced.

And obviously you believed those who might have or have not "other" agenda than me, just another poster who is being totally honest in what, a MacRumor forum? Obviously.

But hey, I can't force style on people. I said what I saw, I tell what I felt, and I write what I experienced personally. There is nothing more simple than that. The AW might not be affordable to some people, but it is priced justly.

So if they have an agenda don't you? It seems your very pro AW and very anti android wear. Your opinion is very pro Apple, so it would be hard for me to see how you could be objective. I find it very hard to take this idea that the AW is the perfect smart watch, and the price is justified.

The AW is not at all unaffordable for me. I just don't see the need it paying for a watch that will not be updated in 3 years time. It will be a gadgets that is forgotten about in a drawer somewhere.

The original Galaxy Gear was obsoleted 6 months later when Samsung came out with the Gear 2. Then 6 months later, Samsung released the Gear S. Samsung will not support the old Gear anymore.

You can't trust some companies with your hard earned money. Apple will not obsolete something so quickly. Apple has rare instances (like iPad 3 -> iPad 4) where they've released a product 6 months later, but they STILL support it to this day (3 years later)

Ok and your point? I am saying the same thing. Why make a watch that is $600 that want last 2 years

It is understandable that for those who have not yet experienced AW to feel like you do, and I don't blame you. I simply stated my own experience with the watch whicy in fact changed my very first preconceptions too. I have no idea what is the future plan for Apple Watch, but that besides the point I made.

My point was that the feel in hand will not change my view of this watch. It could be the best made watch ever, but it being outdated in 2 years is my main problem. That is why I said anything about price. I know the build quality is good, but I don't think it justifies the price Apple put on this.

Again it may be an amazing watch to feel in hand, but that will not change my mind of the overall product Apple is trying to sell. I do have to ask. Have you used any of the android wear watches?

Not Android (I used Pebble) but I have tried Moto, Lg and Samsung. Truly disappointed with the actual quality of the watches, but the price is just I suppose. Still waiting for android watches that can wow me like AW did.

I think some of these Android Wear OEM watches look much worse IRL compared to press shots than Watch does. Take the Huawei smartwatch.

Wow that screen is crazy bright. Sheesh. Is the huawei watch using OLED? Cause even the "dark" parts of the screen appear washed out.
