I told my friend who has a moto360 that I was going to get the Apple watch with the link band. He said like this? And pointed to his moto link band. I said uhhhhhh no. Haha!

The moto band does look like something you get at Walmart to me. It doesn't scream quality. Granted I have yet to see the :apple:Watch in person but it does look superior in quality and craftsmanship. It's hand finished for crying out loud. And the band placed at the bottom of the moto looks really odd. The software is what truly attracted me to the :apple:watch though. I have never heard of a product so despised by so many people. I'm assuming it's 90% the price and 10% just because it's Apple. Haha!

But really who are we kidding. This thing will outsell and become a new standard just like any Apple product has been. Apple will most likely have sold more smart watches in a year, than any smart watch sold in the last 3 years since they have been out. Apple is one of the most profitable companies in the world. Everything they do down to the pricing is meticulous and well thought out.

You're paying $450, for a band that can't be used with anything else.

He only paid $80, and he can reuse it with other (smart)watches. Or, he can spend more and get a nicer band. He has that choice.

The software is what truly attracted me to the :apple:watch though.

Likewise, the software and customization... from app launchers to hundreds of watchfaces... is attractive on Android Wear.

Oh, it'll sell, partly because it's got a captive audience with little other choice right now. Plus Apple was smart to throw in every kind of feature they could think of, in hopes that at least one will attract a buyer. (Of course, when others do that, it's called "throwing everything against the wall to see what sticks.")

Become a new standard? In what way? Certainly not its shape. Other makers are going to round designs.

Its dependency on a single phone OS? Others are heading towards working with all phones, and/or also adding cellular capability to make their watches work standalone.

Its UI? Digital crowns, which Apple didn't invent, have not become popular over the years yet, although Samsung is supposedly working on a digital rotating bezel which should work even if watches get much thinner in the future. Force touch seems like a solution looking for a problem that was already solved by long presses.

The Apple Watch does have two features I'd like to see Google adopt: first, I think that all smartwatches should have a speaker and the capability to make/take calls on the watch itself. Second and more minor, NFC payments would be nice.

I played with my buddies Moto 360 at work the other day. I think it's one of the nicest looking smart watches available but it does come up short. The leather band was a big disappointment. It just felt cheap. The main thing that bothered me was the cut off text and those watch faces that you claim to love he was going through showing me some of his. Every single one you had to click off of an ad from whoever made the face. If you didn't swipe it away you were left with 1/3 of your screen displaying an ad. This is me is sad. I understand customization but one reason I stay with Apple is I don't want bloatware, or someone else's crap on my screen, be it a phone or a watch.

I'm sure third parties will take care of that with the Apple watch in time.

I'm thinking more along the lines of target market and demographic.

I understand there is now a lot of hate for the moto 360, or any android wear device for that matter. The problem I have is this idea that some how the Apple watch has suddenly done everything right. Do you guys not realize that most of the stuff you like about the software has been done before? Please don't give me the Apple just perfects it. Most of the things the Apple watch does no differently than Android wear. To be honest it looks like the OS is much more complex than android wear. I though Apple always prided themselves on being simply, and everyone could use it. The Apple watch does not do that at all.

Perhaps you're used to a different style of leather.

The Horween band that Moto uses is top quality leather from one of the top tanneries in the country.

Reviewers have praised it, and I've found it to be supple and not prone to cracks like the cheaper leather used in some other recent smartwatches.

The main thing that bothered me was the cut off text and those watch faces that you claim to love he was going through showing me some of his. Every single one you had to click off of an ad from whoever made the face.

That's not common or normal. None of the watchfaces I use do that.

I suspect that he is probably using the free try-it version of one of those generic watchface players that allow anyone to create and/or download a watchface.

The way the band attaches to the underside of the Moto 360 is such horrible design that it's amazing that humans designed it. It wasn't very 'intelligent' design. Also, the fact that text is cut off, that's 100% unacceptable. Let's be honest Apple thought of pretty much everything, and spent years perfecting it, and everyone else thought of little, and spent months tinkering with it.

Force touch, Taptic engine, S1 chip encapsulated in resin to protect the electronics, digital crown to navigate without covering the display, an entirely new and dynamic typeface with 'San Fransisco', the fact that it isn't a round display because it makes no sense for a smartwatch, slide in mechanism for quickly changing bands, extremely customizable watch faces, and physical materials/bands, tens of thousands of hours testing fitness, a heartrate sensor that looks ridiculously more sofisticated than any other on the wrist... I mean the list of clear evidence why this is by far the most thought out well designed smartwatch is just so empirically evident.

That's good to know. It was extremely annoying, I didn't ask him if it was on all of them I was too busy swiping to get them away.

The Moto 360 is my favorite out of the Android Wear models. What a lot of ppl over look it the fact that many of us have other apple products. If you own an iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and a Mac you are part of the Apple ecosystem. It only makes sense to go with the Apple Watch.

The android wear watches are not nearly as comparable with the iPhone as the Apple Watch would be.

I think it goes the other way also, if you have an android phone and a chromebook or windows computer you would most likely gravitate towards android wear because the Apple Watch wouldn't do anything for them.

Aside from the fact that the watch face is round why do you like the Moto Almost 360 the best? Just curious as I haven't used one.

You have got to be kidding me. Apple though of everything? That is a joke. Apple is so good at brain washing people.

As for the band on the moto 360. It is top quality, and the design underneath is very nice. I don't see why there is a need to hate on products just because Apple did not make them. I see the AW materials as complete overkill. Who needs a band that cost $450? There is no way it cost Apple anywhere close to what they are charging for these bands.

I believe I just posted an example of a Braun design by Dieter Rams that did the same type of attachment.

If you don't know who he is, look up who Jon Ive idolizes.

Here's another example like that, where Braun used a flat leather strap attached at the bottom of the disc:

The rest of your post was just regurgitating Apple marketing.

Most of Multiverse said is right. Too bad, that some people (I refuse to call it hater) is having problem to see the truth, but instead dismiss it easily as marketing. Not even Apple can market a bad product and expect people to line up for it. And not everyone is easily brainwashed, to call that is an insult to human being.

Well if its such an insult then people need to stop acting like they are. The AW is not this super smartwatch that is miles ahead of the competition. If you or anyone else believes that, then you have been sucked into a marketing lie. Is the watch good? Without a doubt its a great watch. Is it the best smartphone every made? Well now how in the heck do we know that? You guys are acting like this thing is the best Apple product every made, and you have not even had it in your hands yet. Just because Apple made it, does not mean its great. Let's wait and see. Well for the reviewers that is. You guys would praise a turd if Apple made it.
