The moto x did seem to have some redundant apps that I didn't like, which the iPhone didn't have. What's up with 'pictures' and 'gallery' app. They essentially do the same thing. Same goes for 'mail' and 'gmail'. Why not just have one? Oh well, at least it's all hidden from view.

One thing I hate about Android is that the default "mail" app does not support push. My iCloud, school, personal, and a couple other email addresses are all IMAP. None of which get push on the stock email app. The GMail app has push, but obviously that is only for Google email accounts.

It is the equivalent of Apple giving 2 email apps on every iPhone, one that only works with iCloud and does push, and another app for all other email addresses that doesn't have such basic functionality. If Apple did this, all the android fanboys would flip out and say how much they hate Apple for this.

Except that it has been done like this for a long, long time and anyone who has been using Android for any length of time is used to it by now.

The people who seem to complain most vocally are those who come from iPhone ;)

Can anyone tell me if you can text or email videos taken with the standard resolution with the Moto x? I have a note 3 and I can't do this. Just wondering if all other current android phones have the same quality or if it's just samsung phones.

I have a nexus 5 and I have to send the videos via email b.c it always says they are too large.

Deficiencies in the default email app is why I use Kaiten on my Moto X.

Does it allow you to send larger files by email?
I'll answer my own question: no. I just tried it. Says the attachment is too large to send.

Funny, I haven't used an iPhone in a long time, but it seems like you're trying to make an assumption.

You can pull the whole "used to it" argument, but that doesn't change the fact its stupid to provide two email apps where only one supports push and only for Google email accounts.

I may be wrong, but the iphone stock mail app does not support push for gmail anymore...only for people who had previously set up their gmail on an iphone. The gmail app would though.

The stock email app does support it, you just have to set it up a little different. Before my Nexus 7 I had an iPad running iOS 7 beta and I had it working on there just fine.

This Touchless Control is really pissing me off. It's still not using the correct name. This is just bugging me. I've already changed my Google + and Google account name. It's been several days already.

Any advice? Should I just clean the phone and start all over? Is there a way to reset the phone like the iPhone?

It's at £380 in the UK.

Shame. Not a terrible price but for 16gb and no speed bumps, it's a bit cheeky.

After the reveal of the Moto X pricing i'm even more glad i went with the Moto G. £380 for a 16GB device with no spec improvements? no thanks.

You can get a 32GB Nexus 5 for £41 less and you get much more phone for your money.

I thought for a minute that they were going to release it with newer specs, a slight bump. Maybe 1080P screen or something like that.

But 439€ for the 16GB model is too much.

Just to update: I've figured out how to fix this problem. I just logged out of all of my google accounts and logged back in. This updated the "me" under contacts to my current Google + name.

One thing that a lot of people tend to over look with the moto x is that you can get your notifications on your computer. Kind of handy if you use your computer a lot. The voice commands tend to work really well and you dont have to push a button to activate the voice comands like ever other phone. I do like the active notifications too and use that to unlock the phone so much so that I really dont use the button all that often to turn it on. Best android experience I have ever had. Really giving my iphone a run for its money.

Anyone in Europe gonna buy this next month?

I'm cure some folks in Europe will .... whether they post here or not is a different question entirely ;)

Personally..... Had it been released for €300-350 I would have been tempted to investigate. €440 and it's out of my temptation zone - though I do indeed like what Moto have done with the Moto X - paying premium prices right before the new wave of 2014 smartphones arrive seems silly when waiting only 4 weeks or so more, will yield far more bang for your buck than Moto's 2013 offering. It's too little, too pricy, too late IMHO.

Google is selling Motorola Mobility. What does this mean for the moto x and the future of Motorola?
