If any of you have owned the HTC One and the Moto X could you list some pros and cons of each compared to each other? I've played with both in the store and I'm having a hard time deciding which I like more. How do these phones compare for reception and camera quality? I think the One has a better screen and from what I read on here the X probably has better battery life.

Pros for the One - metal frame, nicer design, boom sound, ir blaster, sense skin is pretty nice, better low light shots, best screen on any phone, wide angle lens, zoeys.

Con's for the One - Battery life pretty bad, long charging time, slower updates, button configuration, volume and power buttons almost flush and difficult to find and press without looking.

Pros for Moto X - More customization options, smaller frame with the same size screen, better nearly stock skin, faster updates, active display, always listening, moto assist, camera ui and launcher, better performance, longer battery life, faster charging times, made in the US.

Con's for the Moto X - Plastic build, low light camera performance, storage size, no stereo sound, no ir blaster.

The moto x is awesome. I was leery of the specs but the efficiency achieved through optimization and the fact that there are a lot less pixels to move makes for an awesome phone. Plus it's made in the u.s.

Thanks! I'm leaning towards the Moto X, but both are terrific phones.

I imported the Moto X as soon as I could customise it at the outright cost, back at the start of September. Since then I've spent three months with a device that is a joy to use each day. If any of you are on the fence as to whether or not you should get one, these 1,700 words should help.

Just to sum up though, I would recommend this device over any other Android, despite the supposed 'lacking' specifications.

Opionated World Moto X review

Hey guys,

I'm not sure if this has been posted here or not, but I recently found this pretty good review on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BW1_3ZZ3BA

After using your phones for awhile, what do you think about the negatives he mentioned and how do you cope with it. By negatives, I mostly mean his issue with the UI lag, and his complaint about the plastic build.

I'm no talking about the camera here as I don't care much for the camera.

The build quality is actually one of the best parts of the phone. As far as UI lag goes, you will only notice it if you have the phone side by side with a new flagship.

Out of curiosity, how did you import a customised one? All the ones I've seen are the standard black/white models at vastly inflated prices.

I have a friend in the US. As soon as Moto Maker allowed the option to buy one outright they bought it as per my spec. When it arrived in the UK, after copious import duties, I paid about $8 for an unlock code. It's worked perfectly since.

I also noticed it with multiple tabs in Chrome.

Will I notice this lag if I'm coming from an iPhone?

(4S on iOS 5.1 for reference)

Honestly I doubt it. The lag being mentioned is very over exaggerated. It is there but most people will not even notice it.

That's also very true. There's barely any lag at all, but I do know that an iPhone 4S on iOS 5 or 6 nearly never lags, so a Moto X lagging even a little bit will be noticeable.

I've got a rebate code for $150 off or 50% that I'm planning in using for the Griffin dock ($20 after rebate). If anyone is willing to get me the dock they can use the code to get the phone. Send me an email at freighttrain2126@yahoo.com.

How much better is the Moto X's camera compared to the iPhone 4s (if any at all)? Overall, would it be a worthy upgrade?

Outdoors, they both take pretty good pictures. Indoors, the Moto X camera is funky. For example (and this might only be on my Moto X), the other day I was trying to take a macro shot of a pool ball (yellow/white striped ball) with the red velvet of the pool table as the background. When the camera focused on the ball to take the picture, the whole picture was tinted a harsh red/reddish purple color including the pool ball. It came out horrible and even when I moved the camera away from the pool table and faced it at the other side of the room (nothing in particular, just the entire other side of the room), the image was still tinted red. It was as if the camera had had the red color from the pool table burned into it and then tinted every picture like that.

Weird discolorations like that seem to happen quite frequently and it also does the same thing during darkness at times. To fix it you need to close the camera application and re-open it, but if you try to take the same picture (pool ball on pool table) it'll happen again. Very odd behavior, but other than that it's decent indoors. The camera (indoors at least) is definitely the worst part of this phone.

The Moto X is a great phone, but I think Motorola needs to make some adjustments before I will reconsider one of their devices. Specifically better camera and larger battery. The screen and overall feel of the phone are both great.

So it's now $399 permanently, or $449 for the 32GB version. This is awesome. Anyone who missed out on the promo deals going for it?

Really tempted to. My only hesitation has been that the Moto X doesn't have Wifi Calling for T-Mobile, and signal strength is a big problem in home home where my S4 relies on Wifi. I've got a repeater on the way that I should be able to try tomorrow. If it works out and boosts my signal enough that I can make and recieve calls off the wifi I'm pulling the trigger.
