Because I can get it for the same price, can get it with a $200 gift card (read: click here), and it's available now. The only problem I had with it was mainly the GPS since I'm pretty sure my G2 was defective, and the buttons were just odd, but I didn't see them as a negative. The Moto X was a kick ass phone, but I needed to order the phone today and I doubt I'll get in on the early orders on Wednesday since I have class from 11:30am-4:20pm, then have to walk to my dorm. The white G2 is in stock and Verizon will deliver overnight if I place the order before 3pm. If I am magically able to get a Moto X on Wednesday, I'll take it, but sadly I don't think that will be happening.

Why did you get rid of your custom moto x the first time if you liked it?

I originally sent it in for repair because something was loose in the phone so whenever it vibrated, the vibration motor would knock against something and I could hear and feel things shuffling around inside the phone. I sent it back to get repaired about a week after getting it and a few days after I sent it, I heard of the cyber monday deal and told them to just refund me and that I'd repurchase it then. That's what has lead me to here. If I am able to skip my class then I will most definitely be getting a Moto X as it is by far my favorite Android phone that I've owned.

Ah ok. So in the past few weeks you have had the Moto X, Note 3, G2 and iPhone 5s? Wow, I thought I switched phones a lot haha

Yeah lol, it's bad. It's mostly caused by paying for phones off-contract. If I was using an upgrade I wouldn't be so partial, but when I'm paying $500-$700 I become a bit more picky, and the only way to find out what's right for me is to test them out as daily drivers. I loved my 5s, but it had a battery problem plain and simple. Apple wouldn't acknowledge it, so I sold it for a G2, which was returned because of a GPS problem, the Note 3 was free, and the Moto X was purchased using money from selling the iPhone.

What's funny is that after the reports of Apple admitting that a select few iPhone 5s's had battery problems, I was one of them. I got a call from Apple about a week after the reports came out, but by that time I'd sold the iPhone. Had I got that call a week or two earlier, I would've stayed with the iPhone. In the end, the Moto X was really the only phone that I was truly happy replacing my iPhone 5s with. That's why I'm so indecisive on getting a different phone. I'm really leaning towards just skipping my class on Wednesday so I don't miss the order time, but we'll see. Only thing is, I've already ordered my G2 and it'll be here tomorrow or Wednesday. I'll probably just sell that as well, though seeing as Verizon charges a $35 restocking fee, and I got it for $350+tax and they're going for $450+ if they're new in box.

Soo, can I talk about the fun I have been having all day because of this deal?

On the 27th I ordered a Moto X only to have the promo announced a few hours later . No big deal. I called Motorola and they gave me two options.

1. Cancel the order (and fight the traffic on Monday).
2. They would throw me $150 worth of accessories for free on Monday.

I chose option 2 and passed on canceling the order because I already had my order being produced and didn't mind since I knew I could make up the difference in accessories ( I would still be taking a hit but at least I could spoil my new phone).

Come Monday the discount which was supposed to show up automatically under my Motorola account failed to show. It was after hours so I just decided to call tomorrow (Today/Tuesday the 3rd) and I wasn't concerned because the agent I had spoke with promised to note all this on the account.

Flash forward to today: I call, am told because the promo was yesterday and I didn't call up to have the discount applied (specifically asked the original agent about this and was told I would not have to) the discount is now lost and there is no way to regain it. Also add in that there are no notes on the account today.

Motorola is getting their X back, very very sadly:(.

I would ask to speak to a supervisor. Especially since the cyber Monday deal is on for Wednesday and next Monday.

I thought for sure I missed out on the opportunity to get the Moto X at the Cyber Monday price. It wasn't up when I went to work.

At least they are making up for it by offering it for two days.

It would be awesome if the amount they sell makes them realize a price in the $350-$450 range would sell amazing.

Its a given the next Nexus will be a Motorola build and it will sell in that price range, so there ya go!

I don't think Google will allow Moto to build their next Nexus phone solely because it might seem unfair to Samsung, LG, HTC, etc. Not to mention the supposed "firewall" that separates Motorola and Google.

I agree. Motorola is still going to be a business. I think they will sell phones to make money. Their company mission might have changed though. At least now they are leading Android by building around function rather than specifications. I think this makes Motorola more like Apple than any other telecommunications company, although their service could use some work.

The Nexus program is something different. It's more of a driving force to perpetuate the growth of Android. Nexus is for selling the software and services more than the hardware.

I think if Motorola makes the next Nexus, there would be a conflict of interest. Also, other Android producing companies might feel threatened by Google's Motorola and seek alternative operating systems.

I have a Nexus 5 right now. Battery life is atrocious. Worse than my Nexus 4 with the same usage.

Thinking about getting a Moto X and then selling my Nexus 5. Can I expect a battery life improvement over my Nexus 5? If so, how much?

It is rated at 24 hours, but actual usage seems closer to 14 hours. This is pretty consistent though I hear...

I am not using ART either. I also keep my brightness at about 25%.

I just think it is ridiculous that the Nexus 5 is barely giving me 2 hours of actual use on my phone. So I am hoping the Moto X will be a significant improvement.

Wow that's awful. When I had my Moto X I was able to get around 14-16 hours with 5-6 hours minimum of screen-on time. That was with Google Now, GPS enabled, Wifi enabled, one push gmail account, and one push exchange account. I probably had other stuff running, but needless to say, battery life was never a problem with the Moto X. It was much, much better than my S4, iPhone 5s and Note 3 (although I only had this for two days, so I didn't really get to break it in or give it ample time to learn my battery habits).

I disagree, and for one major reason. Verizon and Motorola love each other. Verizon has carried the Droid line exclusively and they were the first to update the Moto X to KitKat. Its obvious they have a strong working partnership. One can easily argue the reason the Nexus phones have never reached their full potential is because they aren't available on Verizon's network. Say what you will about them but they are still the largest carrier in the US with the most customers. A Motorola made Nexus would almost certainly mean it would be carried and heavily promoted by Verizon, a huge win for Google and the Nexus.

Besides, the fact that Google has gone back and forth between manufacturers and had them build prototypes of the Nexus 5 shows that they aren't really dead set on anyone and since they own Motorola, it just makes sense. Samsung has the Galaxy line to take care of, HTC is still in financial trouble and LG didn't do that great of a job with the Nexus 5 as its been plagued with screen, battery and reception issues. Areas Motorola happens to be very good at, especially battery life and reception/radios. I guess we will see though.
