So one-day battery life suddenly becomes something cool when you call it "all-day battery life"?

And people accuse Apple of marketing spin.

Subjectively looks OK but still too big for my tiny wrist (I know I'm in the minority).

I have a Garmin fenix, which is useful to switch on bluetooth when I'm at the shops with the kids (secondary to it's fitness use obviously), and the phone's in my bag, but it looks like I've got a grandfather clock on my arm and certainly couldn't wear in a meeting at work...

Be funny if Apple unveil a tv not a watch on 9.9.2014

everyone went left, apple went right...

lucky number 7leven

what a cheap ass looking band and i dont like the silver bezel, looks just as cheap.

isnt there a 2nd gen already in the making?

C'mon surely you get hate better than that. Give us some more examples of whats wrong with it

If it could do all of that by itself (standalone) I'd be all over it. I would order it RIGHT NOW. Cheap chinese GSM wrist phones have been out for years, including running Android.

If I have to carry a damn phone around anyway to make it work, I have zero interest in having to cart around another doodad in my already overloaded life.

Hopefully Apple has a clue and put a GSM radio in their version. If not, oh well, whatever.

I hope it has advanced image stabilization or else watching porn on your wrist will be next to impossible.

I agree with him. It is just a thin one-layer strip of leather that will quickly go limp. Better watch bands have two layers of leather and filling. That would also fit better to the thickness of the device.

But if this watch has a standard band connector than you can just swap it out for better leather or put a NATO band on it.

"Ok Google"

as users can say "Ok Google" to send texts

BTW, how ridiculous is that??

Ok Walmart!
Ok Pizza Hut!
Ok Casio!
Ok Betty Crocker!

Say "Ok Google" and you're basically "whipped"!

[does the whipping sound]

:D

How did you know that they used an overlay screen?

If you look closely you can see the round object move around slightly in the watch which you often get when using the tracker tool in After Effects. The hand and the screen on the watch move out of sync. This is often done to overlay a screen on an object to make it more clearer. If you compare the shots with this link you can see the difference.

An awesome example of this tool was used in this videoclip. They animated t-shirts designs using the same tool.

The all black looks elegant. Hopefully the iWatch will have a round face as well.

It's one thing that I really hate, and many people don't even realize how stupid it is. Wasn't there another potential keyword? "Ok, Android"? "Ok, Smartwatch"? "Shazam"? "Kltpzyxm"?

No, I am most definitely not going to speak to a company.

Let's try this:
Ok, Apple!

Yep, just as dumb.

Time is a function of power and not truth

I totally love the round screen, and it would be great fun designing apps for it.
Like some kinda wormhole just opened to a parallel Earth in a 2014 where the round Oscilloscope display had never been replaced with a rectangular screen.

But I don't want to wear one. I think it looks too high up above the wrist and too big.
When I use my iPhone I see the screen, and everyone else sees the back of the device.
I don't like the idea that other people can see my watch screen, it makes me feel like I have someone else banner add running on my arm.

Most of the time I can't see my wrist anyway, are other people gonna say "hey dude, you just got a message", and I look at my wrist and its all like "YOUR TEST RESULTS ARE IN FROM THE VD CLINIC"

Summary:

+) I really like the idea of having my body augmented by some futuristic technology to make me into a cyborg Übermensch

+) Round screens are totally new ( to me ). I've never seen this before.

-) If the technology advantages are kinda lame, and my physical form is not that much improved by wearing it, I feel a bit daft. Like I need a pager strapped to my wrist to be able to cope with life.

-) I don't want other people seeing my screen before I do.

I guess I'll wait until "all day battery life" is not something you brag about...

That said, this is easilly the best looking smartwatch on the market. I'm very excited to see if Apple chooses the "shrinked smartphone" design or a more traditional watch design like this.

Very unoriginal design which looks just like my Braun wristwatch.

Now if it came with "all day breakfast" I would buy one for the whole family. Even thin Emily, who only eats eggs.

Sorry, but after being suckered into purchasing a MotoACTV several years ago and given their lack of support and eventual quiet discontinuation of the product, I will not be purchasing another Motorola product.

Unfortunately, that device could have been something. It had GPS (main reason to get one), wifi, bt, radio, touch screen, maps, mp3 player, and god knows what else.
