Looks like awesome hardware. I just really love iOS and it's ecosystem...so I really don't consider Android phones...shame too because that phone looks slick.

16gb ipod nano = $179. 16gb MotoACTV = $299. No thanks. 🙄 People will always go for the cheaper more effective device. If people want to compete with apple they need to make their devices of good quality and for a good price.

You need to remember this is not a device that is truly going head to head wit hteh iPod nano. It is more going against some things by Garmine that have GPS and HRM build into them. Those devices start around 200+ and can not play music.

The markets are very different. While it may look the same they are very different markets. The MotoACTV is a steal for what it does and is right around the right price point. I would love to have one for the GPS and heart rate function. The music would be a huge bonus part.

Hardware and design of the phone looks really good, but the primary thing I'm concerned about is the battery life. The Droid Bionic which is similar in specs packing a 1735 mAh would last me only about 6 hours of light use/standby, so I can't imagine how a 1800 mAh non-user replaceable battery is going to help. A lot of the 4G phones depended on extended battery packs to last through a day for most users, so this is very upsetting for me.

Combine that with a locked bootloader, guess we'll see what the Nexus Prime announcement at 10PM will be.

Damn that thing is a bloated fatty. Needs a diet.

You're right...the iPhone 4S is a bloated fatty.

Who said the battery was not replaceable? Did I miss something?

Confirmed by a few sources actually. Saw it on engadget and droid-life, both of whom were at the event this morning. There's a video review on droid-life where you can hear the Moto rep stating the battery is not replaceable.

I was super stoked for this phone this morning, but the pentile screen and locked bootloader are really disappointing.

Carrying the RAZR name will give it a slight push for recognition, but it should have been part of the SLVR line. A clamshell touchscreen would be pretty interesting though.

Speaking of RAZR, I was never a fan of that phone or understood the craze for them. I owned a pair of black V3's and thought it was no different than my V600 that I got in May 2004. I wasn't crazy about the Sidekicks, but at least the later ones became alot more useful than the RAZR. The RAZR2, KRZR, and PEBL looked pretty cool though. If you compare the original RAZR's thinness to our current phones, they would look fatter at almost 14 mm.

Back in 2004-2006, I gotta admit Motorola had some of the best designs for dumb phones. I always thought they were the Mercedes Benz of phones prior to Apple taking over with that label. Ironic that another American company with no experience at making phones and who partnered with them in the ROKR days are the now the new kings. The cell phone pioneers got lost in the shuffle. But Moto were coming out with better hardware designs and better materials compared to their other competitors back in the day. When it comes to flip phones, Moto is KING at that. This has been happening since the StarTAC days.

I still say Moto and HTC not only use rock solid materials on their phones, but they also come up with the best names for them.

wow, i def can't get it if the battery isn't replaceable then. That was one of the main reasons why i went Android.

hmmm...with a pentile screen...

Hopefully the Nexus Prime will have a replaceable battery. Hope this isn't a new trend for android phones.

Looks like an awesome phone. I've actually come to like the look of the Droid X hump at the top rather than at the bottom a la Samsung. Not too sure about the funny curve at the corners though, reminds be of those old Nokia phones that had weird curves and angles everywhere. Is this a Verizon only device?

Inb4 Apple sues over something frivolous 😛

What are the battery specs? 4G LTE sucks the life out of a phone very fast. The first day I had my Thunderbolt I went through a full charge in under 4 hours with very minor use. To last a full day I had to toggle 4G off or carry a spare battery with me. One of the main reasons I went back to the iPhone was because 4G technology isn't that great when it kills your battery.

Thinner and bigger.

I'm sure many would-be iphone buyers might think twice. But needless to day, the iPhone 5 will clearly sport a bigger screen to compete with these models. And obviously be thinner.

That verizon logo at the bottom of the screen is the dumbest ****, ruins the look of the phone entirely in my opinion

----------

Like iPhone thin huh?

But then if your a Verizon customer you would be stuck on old, slow EVDO Rev. A 3G, while everyone on the new 4G LTE devices fly along. Verizon is expanding 4G to more and more markets every month. I'd hate to wait a year to get it when it is coming to my area next month.

my verizon data speeds are fast if you ask me

Im no "Apple fanboy" but this phone looks ugly. Whats with the lump on the side?

Amazing insides though. Would love to test it out.

However, I've spent a lot of money in iOS. 3.5 inch screen is good enough for me....as of now.

Next summer/October better be a bigger screen though.

wow $249 for 8GB motactv, have Motorola not noticed that the ipod touch has dropped to 199$.

Great product in MOTOACTV but I don't see it taking off with its 249$ pricetag.

Regardless of whether any of you think this phone is better than the 4S or not, the 4S is still going to outsell it by a wide margin, and that is fact. Motorolla is not going to sell 4 million of these in the first weekend. This is not an iPhone killer.

I don't see why people feel the need to compare phones so much. Apple is still going to put out the best selling phone pretty much regardless of what other people do, and other companies are still going to put out the better spec'd out phone. Just like last year, and the year before that, and the year before that.

no single phone is going to out sell the iPhone. The iPhone killer is in the form of 1000's pin pricks. Android is going to be split among multiple phones. Android buys right now have a choice on AT&T between at least 3 high end phones. Verizon quite a few and same for the other. Those are multiple phones for the same number of buyers being split between.

So..people shouldn't compare and just accept that Apple will be the number one player in this market forever 😕?

Comparisons are good, they make people think. It's made me think long and hard about why I put down an order for a 4S without even using one properly. Or why up until now I've written off Android devices without really giving them a chance. Whether or not Motorola sell a bunch of these or not, the RAZR will help the market evolve. Ultimately people might not even like using the RAZR, but only with spec comparisons will the minority consider one, and who knows maybe a few people will buy one and be perfectly happy with it.😉

That looks a lot like MBP...
That looks a lot like iPod nano, but overpriced.

O... Sorry.

Good job, Motorola. You did a good job on copying.... I mean creating new stuff.
