I wouldn't be surprised if a large number of those people would revert back to iOS 6. iOS 7 feels rushed, it's great in some ways, but horrible in other ways.

I guess there will be only one person to revert, you know who.

The iOS7 is amazing and i've been playing with it since morning.

For some (like me) it might take a while to get used to iOS7, but once you do there's no turning back. The older OS just looks very dated.

I'm not surprised that adoption has been so swift. Apple has had iOS 7 on its web site for just over three months. People can't wait to try it out.

I was going to wait to update my iPad 3 but was too curious. So far I've seen no problems. No sluggishness. Very satisfied - and relieved :)

Agreed. The intuitive and very readable user interface has been replaced with a "thin" and "modern" gimmick user interface that is less intuitive and very hard to read. My eyes hurt, I'll probably go back to iOS6.

Maybe this will make apple do 6 month upgrades on iOS. (not saying thats good or bad)

That wouldn't bother me at all. It doesn't bother me if something isn't perfect out of the gate as long as I don't have to wait a year for updates.

I haven't noticed anything. As weird as it sounds, it feels like my phone's battery has improved day by day. Almost as if iOS 7 has built in battery management, that adapts to your usage and location patterns. Try doing a clean restore.
I'm not sure if this is why, but the new background update support can kind of have this effect. iOS prioritizes in running background tasks for the apps that support them in case it detects that you use them often, and downgrades the priority for rarely used apps. I guess there's some chance that iOS 7, before knowing any patterns, has a suboptimal background update schedule, but this is really just guessning.

Of course, iOS 7 probably consumed a lot more battery than usual on release day due to the sheer number of app updates getting released on the App Store, combined with the new auto-update feature. This is really not the norm of how things will be.

Can anyone comment on how iOS 7 performs on iPad 3? I would like to upgrade, but I'm a bit afraid that it will get sluggish… (I still remember how I upgraded to iOS 4 on iPhone 3G and suffered…)

Edit: I just saw ValSalva already commented on that.

Will the issue with less battery life in iOS 7 become a bigger problem for folks? I wonder if people will claim the phone (especially the iPhone 5) isn't lasting the amount of time that was advertised when they originally purchased it. On one hand one could say 'it's your fault you got the new iOS', on the other hand people could say that a new Apple iOS shouldn't substantially decrease the battery life from what was originally advertised for their product.

I get about 30% more life out of my 4S...

True, it will take sometime getting used to, i'm been using iphones since 3G came out, sudden change in the OS will obviously take sometime...but i love what they did with the OS.
Instead of seeing Gigahertz and GigaBytes in the spec sheet, i'll prefer to see animation and vaporized transparency, parallax etc etc.

I've been running it on my 2yo iPad 2 since early this morning, with no sluggishness and no glitches whatsoever. Granted, I haven't seen everything there is to see, and 4-5 hours can in no way be construed as a stress test. But still.

I like the new design, and the new animations. I don't miss skeumorphism at all.

In my opinion, Apple got it right. Again.

I don't know why companies continue to brag about adoption rates when the software update is completely free.

Who wouldn't download an updated operating system for free? I know I would, even If it just means to try it out.

i haven't dove in too deep yet but so far i love ios7 on my ipad4 and iphone5. it's so much cleaner within the apps. better organized. i'd love to make the opacity of the menu bar and folders less opaque. is that possible? i haven't dove in but if anyone knows how could they post it? so yes i think it is a great jump. i hope they refresh more often now. tweaks and a big jump every year.

I haven't noticed any battery life difference with iOS 6.
I have done upgrades and clean restores (iPhone 4, 4S, 5, iPad 2, 3, 4, mini)

Maybe it's because many people are doing a backup, then a clean restore of iOS 7 that after the device is up and running with iOS 7 it's restoring data in the background which is using, of course, using the battery?

Dunno.
Maybe I haven't been noticing it enough.

Such as?
(Be specific. Why make this statement with absolutely no points)

Rushed, aka no attention to detail. Usually, it's not like apple to miss simple things, like centering a tab...

iOS 7 does take some getting used to.

When you used the same interface since 2007, any changes in button placement or changing actions is hard to adjust.

1. Love that I can unlock anywhere on the screen!

2. I miss the back button in Safari, I know the swipe back is better, but I keep trying to click the back button from habit.

3. Hiding the bottom bar in safari is nice, but it now takes two taps to get to bookmarks and tabs, is there not a shortcut for this?? How about a right-swipe?

4. Love the new multitasking and also how it switches from app to app. I wish there was a 3-finger swipe or something to switch between apps.

5. Like the notifications, but there is still no way to reply without opening up the messages app, why can't I just reply in the notification itself?

6. There is something about the new keyboard that doesn't feel right, I am not sure what it is, but I don't like it.

7. Text Size Setting is great, I don't need the huge fonts, so I can know fit more text on the screen by using the smallest reading size.

Proposal: Let's change the name of this site to MacBitchers because it seems like that's all that 90% of the posters can do anymore.

Here, I've got one :) "Usage stats for Apple's beleaguered iOS 6 platform experience shocking tumble as company strives to fight off faltering iPhone sales."

After a week of using iOS 7, I've just downgraded to 6.1.4 (fortunately Apple still signs it, I thought I was already out of time).
I like a lot of things about iOS 7, I really do... but somehow, I don't know why, something's missing... the pleasent, cozy, relaxing feel that I always loved about Apple products. I really miss this feeling, and now that I downgraded, it felt like entering my old beloved home. I'm not saying that I am going to stick with it forever. But right now I might hold off for at least another few iOS 7 updates, to see if anything changes.

New is scary/exciting. Old is safe/comfortable. That's human. I'm excited but waiting anyway, just to let others be the guinea pigs.

But if you're waiting for Apple to make iOS 7 more "old" and "comfortable," you will have a long (but comfortable?) wait!

You're not thinking about it in the bigger picture. You are a very tiny minority. If I could generalize you, you're in the 1-10% "hardcore tech" crowd. The average user doesn't keep up with when the new OS comes out or when the new devices will be released. I would say they in general don't care that much.

I also haven't noticed the battery issue so far, but I had my 5 replaced under AppleCare the day before iOS7 came out, so it could just be the new battery has better capacity because it's not 1 year old, so I'm noticing that...

I disagree, in fact, I feel the exact opposite. Everything I've seen so far seems to be very thought out and the attention to little details is impressive. I may not like all the new changes, but "rushed" is certainly not the word I would use to describe the update.

I find it very hard to read. Such a frequently used user interface element can't be that hard to read and ugly.
