Since Apple launched the iPhone 12 in October, an increasing number of users of the new smartphone have been reporting persistent drops in cellular coverage.

Multiple reports of dropped 5G and LTE connectivity have appeared on Reddit, on Apple's support forums, and on the MacRumors forums, with many people suffering issues when walking or in transit and some seeing the same problem when stationary.

Several users report suddenly losing all reception bars and seeing a "no service" message on their iPhone 12, despite being in an area of network coverage and seeing no connectivity issues on other devices, and iOS version doesn't seem to be a factor.

Several users have been in touch with Apple technical support or their operator, and there's some suggestion that the issue may be related to how the iPhone 12 switches between cellular towers. Affected iPhones reportedly pass all of Apple's diagnostic tests, while toggling Airplane mode on and off seems to correct the lost signal reception for some, but not all users.

iPhone 12 users in various countries have relayed their experience with the problem, and it doesn't appear to be related to any one network carrier, with reports from users across Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile. Verizon is said to be aware of the issue.

Have you seen similar sudden dropped connections on your iPhone 12 for no apparent reason? Let us know in the comments below.

(Thanks, Wesley!)

I get that every year there are issues, and I get the old saying about first gen Apple anything, in this case something related to the 5G perhaps, but between this and the other issues I’m reading about, my gf and I are holding off for the 13. My 11PM is great, and her XS Max is also humming along just fine. Having already decided to hold onto our watches until the S7, our wallets are happy.

I know, I know, there are plenty of users who are just fine, but......

But then the 13 will have something wrong as well. Lol

I had the same issue when iOS13 got released on my XR. If I used my O2 sim card I’d have the issue, yet if I put in the works EE SIM card it worked perfectly. Sometimes airplane toggle would resume service other times a full reboot of the phone was the only thing to get it working again. I reported this to Apple & O2 and they blamed each other but nothing got sorted.

In the end I sold the XR to my friend on EE and got an 11, however 5 months later O2 and Apple finally admit a software error and fixed the thing. Another oddity is that my wife who also has an XR on O2 never had the issue.

I also have this issue. Using 4G, sometimes I have no coverage at all, sometimes it drops to 3G, even here in the city centre where I never had any issues with my old iPhone 8. It doesn't happen very often though, but it is noticeable different from my previous experiences.

Rebooting the device sometimes fixes the issue.

I preemptively switched off 5G on my girlfriends Mini, she reports no problems so far.

Can it be said that the affected people are on a dual sim set-up? If yes, it could have something to do with that.I haven't noticed it on my 12, but then I use a single physical sim.

I've had that multiple times here in Germany with LTE alone (5G is not yet available in my region) and a dual SIM setup (Vodafone and o2). I hope it get's fixed soon.
Also Germany, T-Mobile here. No issues for me, in fact, the reception of this phone in certain areas for me is much better than with any other phone I had before. Didn't suffer from the above error so far fortunately.
