Just throwing this out there, the issue is obviously real. Return for new phone ASAP. Mine has been flawless but sorry to hear of poor reception for others. Optus just upgraded our area in Sydney.

More like millions upon millions compared to a handful. Breathless “stories” like this are BS
Your point is sometimes valid, but that's not always the case. Sometimes problems, like the dreaded butterfly keyboard, are way more than isolated random issues. That one was a design flaw - plain and simple.

So to state, right away, that this is "BS" seems to be jumping the gun a bit.

Mine will go from full bars to no service while sitting by itself in the same spot. Switching airplane mode on and off restores service but I’ve seen it go back to no service within a few seconds afterwards occasionally. There clearly is an issue impacting at least some devices.

I just moved to Vodafone from EE here in the U.K. and my signal keeps falling back to 3G and the speeds are horrendous. Was thinking it was probably just Vodafone but now thinking perhaps not. Will be interesting next week when I go to work if the speeds are bad there too as I know Vodafone have resonable coverage there. I really shouldn’t be getting 1Mbps down in 2020

I get that every year there are issues, and I get the old saying about first gen Apple anything, in this case something related to the 5G perhaps, but between this and the other issues I’m reading about, my gf and I are holding off for the 13. My 11PM is great, and her XS Max is also humming along just fine. Having already decided to hold onto our watches until the S7, our wallets are happy.

I know, I know, there are plenty of users who are just fine, but......

I'm not sure how coming into a thread to discuss issues some are having with their 12's by telling us you saved money by not upgrading is helpful, but thanks for the info I guess.

With that being said, I don't know if I've experienced this issue or not. I haven't seen any issues while using the phone for browsing, email, messaging, but I have dropped a couple of calls and aren't sure if it was my end or the other persons cell phone.

I don’t have this issue on my 12 Pro on Verizon, just slower LTE speeds than my X and slow 5G.

Yes I have been having the same issue on iPhone 12 Pro Max on Verizon, no SIM card. I see many users saying they have to keep pulling their SIM card. I get a pre-recorded message when trying to make a call, have to turn on airplane mode and try again.

My neighbor went through 2 iPhone 12s. Both would drop calls either 30 seconds in or after 5 minutes. And texts would stay stuck halfway sending. He went back to his 11 Pro. No issues with that. This was on Verizon.

Must be a Verizon issue. I am on T-Mobile and all works great with my 12.

I have the same issue with the iPhone 12 Pro Max in Hungary (Telekom HU).
I already missed a couple of important calls because of it. 😢

I also have this issue. Using 4G, sometimes I have no coverage at all, sometimes it drops to 3G, even here in the city centre where I never had any issues with my old iPhone 8. It doesn't happen very often though, but it is noticeable different from my previous experiences.

Rebooting the device sometimes fixes the issue.
Man I have been having this issue since I got my iPhone 12 from Verizon. Verizon blames Apple. Apple blames the provider. But I have had nothing but issues. Finally Verizon told me to leave it on LTE. And don’t use 5g. Which works for me. But it defeats the purpose of having a 5g phone.🤦🏼‍♂️

I’m on ATT and mine is crappy too. I was wondering if it was the heat that is messing everything up on mine. Gets really warm “every time” I charge it or use 5g

I don't know it's a 5G issue though, because I disabled 5G on my phone (it doesn't exist over here and even if it would I would prefer to save battery). And I still have the issue.

I also don't use dual SIM by the way.

I’ve been experiencing this issue daily for the past couple of weeks. Our neighborhood is currently having 5GUW added and it does seem to happen when moving between LTE and 5G/5GUW.

I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max on Verizon. There is no 5G coverage in my area so I don't have a 5G plan and I've set my Voice & Data setting to LTE.

The majority of the day I'm connected to wifi, but on several occasions when I've left wifi coverage, my phone will drop cell coverage entirely or drop to 3G. Disabling cell data or switching to airplane mode and flipping back doesn't solve this. The only solution has been a hard reboot. A few times I have just waited it out and it seems to resolve itself after sometime. I can avoid this issue if I've turned off wifi before leaving the wifi coverage area. I should add that this doesn't happen all the time.
