Right!

I don't know what you're being an ass for. World Wide Developers Conference. You develop software to use on hardware. Instead of being ignorant, you can inform and educate, much like others have. If you can't be polite then I think you're the one who shouldn't be here.

They were never going to announce the new 12's tomorrow anyway. September's when they're expected to be announced...

I don't think anyone even suggested that they'd be unveiling the iPhone 12 at the June WWDC! Why would anyone expect that??

if no new iMac, not sure why the Apple store says shipping in 5 weeks.
I'm going to think it's because there will be a spec update at least - so - not taking any new immediate orders online... Only reason I can think of if they aren't releasing a new iMac refresh.

Why is anyone surprised? Its a software conference. It does have hardware occasionally but most years it doesn't.

Despite this being fact. Every year, everyone forgets this and expects a bunch of new hardware at a software focused event. Then everyone has a sad about it. Welcome to the MacRumors crowed where memory loss is our thing.

For me it's mostly the UX inconsistencies. Broken up-next, apps that don't handle previews correctly, etc.

It could use native homekit support. I can use the Apple TV as a HomeKit hub, but I can't include the Apple TV with homekit automations.

Otherwise it wouldn't hurt to add support for WiFi 6 and 10 Gigabit Ethernet, more memory for larger content, the ability to find the remote like find my iphone, and ambilight support.
The majority of the things you listed are software

in all honesty there have been many hardware instances like HomePod and IMac Pro

I miss MacWorld.. that was when they announced products and end user stuff.

I don't recall Apple doing a one more thing since jobs.. I think they let that die off.

Yeah but you should always develop software on hardware that significantly faster than your target devices... Developing iOs apps on any MacBook Pro old than 2018 is stupid slow compared to iMac Pro or current MacBook Pros. I don't know why devs put up with waiting for things to happen. Add up all that waiting for things to load and you've wasted a ton of time.

It will probably be filled with more Apple TV news and media trash they showed last Keynote... Here are the new TV shows coming and here is a glimpse at three new games coming to Apple Arcade... I hope you enjoy our presentation blah blah blah- filler for like 30 minutes
First Apple Watch, Apple Music, HomePod, and iPhone X we’re all one more things

As Seanm87 said, there HAS been SOME hardware announcements. But generally they are brief and for major revisions.
I would expect something hardware related with the move to ARM (If this instead goes ahead). But simply mentioning a transition to ARM chips would be sufficient. They don't need to show off new hardware models.

For example they DID NOT show off new hardware when they migrated from PowerPC to x86. They simply announced that it was coming.

I wonder if it has anything to do with more than one usually trusted source for announcement and leaks leading up to the event claiming there were going to be hardware released... Maybe that's why?

LOL that's rhetorical. That is why. No memory loss needed this year :)

I'm not sure if I am the only one, but I could not care less about software. My iPhone can call, text, receive email, and browse the web. I don't understand Apple's heavy focus on software thinking they have accomplished the impossible. Spoiler alert, it may be half-assed, but Andriod did it first.
My friend, you may be on the wrong forum :) we are all more or less crazy to hear about Apple's software updates.

Maybe fusion on the base model or middle of the range 21.5" iMac and high end to come standard with a SSD?

Or perhaps simply adding higher capacity SSDs as upgrade options.

The MacBook Pro has up to 8TB of SSD storage whereas the 27" iMac has up to 2TB of SSD storage.

They should be able to add a 4TB SSD option and perhaps an 8TB option pretty easily.

The first hardware release was the following January, and it was a 15" MacBook Pro and an iMac, both with Core 2 Duo processors, and both looked exactly the same on the outside as their PPC predecessors.

A small point, but the first Intel Macs were Core Duo machines, not Core 2 Duo.

Core 2 Duo machines were introduced in October 2006.

haha fair enough 😉 I think they may announce some ARM related stuff.
My point is, WWDC has always been a software focused event. You know, have “developer” in its name and all.

New hardware release is mostly happening at the developer conference and it's part of the software product like faceID on macs to provide a sneak peek for developers to support it.

Lol. I swear it seems like Airtags will never get released.

I’m sure they figure Airtags aren’t necessary when people aren’t leaving their houses due to shelter in place/ COVID fear. Probably a more useful product when people are on the go and want to shell out money for nice to have products

Lol dude this is a developer conference, not a consumer event.

The keynote is a consumer event and press is invited to it. In years past when they had NDA, the keynote was specifically exempt.

The developer keynote is later that day, the Platforms State of the Union, and there they talk about APIs and languages and such.

I'm waiting for the 15" MBP (preferably no bezels) with the new keyboard.

The 16" MBP is too large to bring around and the 13" is not powerful enough for compilation of large software projects.

This would be a great event to announce such hardware. Currently it takes me about 5 minutes to make a clean build on my MBP 15" from 2016. With an 8-core processor and other improvements, I could probably cut that in half. That would make a huge difference.

If not announced now, I will probably skip another Intel-based MBP and buy the ARM 6-12 months after the first version is out.

Zero chance they're bringing a 15 inch MBP back.

A spec bump on a computer that’s design is 8 years old? Apple hits a new low if that happens
