2019 TV of the year. I’d hardly call them lost electronics.

this is good news.

apple need to focus on their Software mess.

remember Sony in the 90’s? Amazing hardware. Junk software. and Now they are a has been except for the PlayStation. Lost computing. Lost mobile. Lost electronics.

Apple needs to step up its software game.

What exactly is wrong with the current GEN Apple TV?
As far as hardware is concerned, minus polarizing Siri Remote, Apple TV is fine if all you do is stream.

But for games, Apple TV 4K is showing some age. When it came out 3 years ago, A10X was comparable to Nintendo Switch -- fine for 1080p TV. But when hooked up to 4K TV, choppy frame rate with judder and lag. Updating Apple TV to A12X (comparable to Xbox One S) and HDMI 2.1 (ALLM and VRR), along with tvOS optimization (e.g., render at 1080p and upscale to 4K), should alleviate much of the problem.

Beyond games, I think Apple should replace Apple TV HD with lower cost Apple TV 4K (perhaps A12 processor and more basic remote control).

Lol, you are so delusional! Maybe try to translate what WWDC stands for.
Also, WTH are you doing here?

I'm not sure if I am the only one, but I could not care less about software. My iPhone can call, text, receive email, and browse the web. I don't understand Apple's heavy focus on software thinking they have accomplished the impossible. Spoiler alert, it may be half-assed, but Andriod did it first.

If this is true it is just another example of how timid Apple has become under Tim Cook’s suffocating leadership style that glorifies endless supply chain improvements, incremental spec bumps, meaningless software tweaks, and massive money wasting Quixotic dreams of becoming Netflix. But because he gets the share prices up he stays on...no longer the company of Ive and Jobs...

Really miss the Jobs and Ive era. The Apple everyone loved died with Steve Jobs.

They may make a lot of money but they really are a boring company these days in terms of products. No excitement.

I’m hoping this story is false and the iMac is redesigned. But on the other hand a redesign will give them another opportunity to overcharge customers. No doubt a new design will start at £3000 but include everything it should of had about 3-4 years ago.

Also instead of wasting money trying to be the new Netflix, paying production costs and actors salaries how about lowering the prices of their products to reasonable levels instead of milking the loyal customers.

That’s the way it’s been done many years in the past. Developers conference is not for the end user. It’s to explain the latest versions of software to get the developers hyped up.

I’d be surprised if we hear about an ARM transition but there’s no talk of Mac ARM hardware. Devs will need something to work with... Maybe they’ll release ARM machines in limited quantities to Devs only (at least in the beginning).

I once got one of the first ARM Apple TV’s for a dollar that way :) And an Apple Watch for a dollar, too, if I remember correctly.

Traditionally, WWDC has never been about hardware releases/announcements. The focus has been purely software on a developer side for iOS, Mac, watchOS, etc. There shouldn’t be any disappointment, especially given the ‘fall keynote’ is primarily about hardware within a few months after WWDC.

While I would love to hear new hardware, I just don’t see it happening. Maybe a quick, “We are switching to ARM CPU’s” and a brief touch on that. I used to love apple’s unveiling’s of software. But lately they aren’t really a company of the “cutting edge” on software, but more of a “let’s do performance improvements and clean up the mess of our last release”. I remember OS X releases used to be so awe inspiring, but it’s like those days are kinda over. Maybe I am the only one that feels this way...

I don't know what you're being an ass for. World Wide Developers Conference. You develop software to use on hardware. Instead of being ignorant, you can inform and educate, much like others have. If you can't be polite then I think you're the one who shouldn't be here.

What exactly is wrong with the current GEN Apple TV? AirPods studio are nice, but not a necessity. Air tags are literally going to be like $30, and are really just another tie in to the ecosystem. These are not huge products.

For me it's mostly the UX inconsistencies. Broken up-next, apps that don't handle previews correctly, etc.

It could use native homekit support. I can use the Apple TV as a HomeKit hub, but I can't include the Apple TV with homekit automations.

Otherwise it wouldn't hurt to add support for WiFi 6 and 10 Gigabit Ethernet, more memory for larger content, the ability to find the remote like find my iphone, and ambilight support.

Sony doesn't make any panels. Sony's display operation, which I don't believe ever made large-format panels, was spun off as Japan Display, which is on the verge of bankruptcy if not due to orders by exactly one customer: Apple.

Sony TVs don't even include Sony chips anymore, they're Mediatek platforms. Sony's essentially buying chips, buying panels, and slapping them into a box.

You forgot to mention that their TV UI is just android. Sony doesn't even make their own software anymore.
