Whoa! Potentially Preloaded crapware? Is this Apple or Shamesung that we are talking about? Apple does not preload crapware onto devices. Except for Newsstand. And voice memos. And Game Center. :roll eyes:

Hopefully this will be a FREE DOWNLOAD, not a preinstalled crapware type thing that the forum users will bitch about.

If there is any type of music promotion it would be to justify whatever will be incorporated in the iPhone 6 based on the Beats deal.
Some kind of exclusive deal so U2 next album would be only available at iTunes...first

shouldn't they use music that would sound GOOD in Beats headphones?
maybe something with a bass beat? maybe something original by Dre?

to obvious?

If that big secret building turns out to be just a stage for U2 to perform and not some giant freakin-new product I'm going to be severely disappointed.

It's all about Music

My guess is that this event is going to be all about music.

I think Apple we unveal a new option for better than CD quality audio files through itunes. To benefit from these high quality, audiophile grade recordings you will need to buy a new kind of headphone that will connect with the lightening cable. This is why Apple needed to buy Beats - because they dominate the market for headphones - not even Apple could pull this off without them!

I've taken strolls through the DeAnza campus these past few days and the preparations going into the Sept 9 event are HUGE. I seen truckloads of electrical equipment being unloaded. I wouldn't be suprised if music will feature heavily, perhaps even live music!

The interesting thing to me would be if this marks the official starting point to the end of non digital music. This has been coming for years but still today any big artist that has a new release you can go out and find it on CD. Fan or not a fan of their music would still be a pretty big deal if U2/Apple announced that they only way to get new U2 moving forward is digitally. No CDs. No vinyl.

Looking at the picture it seems to me that this is all about Beats and how the Beats acquisition will affect the new iPhone.

Notice the Beats headphones and the phone in his hand.

Should have been Coldplay. They have have a history with Apple. And their music is still relevant. Well all apart from Chris's "crying break up album".

Not a new thing . . .

An album preloaded on the iPhone? What is this, Microsoft?

It was Samsung that gave away Jay Z's Magna Carta album for free to 1 million Samsung device users (Jay Z was paid $5 for every free album downloaded):

Kanye West made the claim that it's what prompted Apple to buy Beats:

None of it makes any sense to me. On the other hand, you have to remember there were once Madonna, No Doubt, Tony Hawk, and Beck edition iPods, so it makes sense to someone.

Even crazier those iPods cost $49 extra more than the comparable iPod without the celebrity's signature on the back.

U2? Really? Seriously? It was kinda cool and fun when they had Foo Fighters, but this? No, please no!

Why am I starting to sense a "jump the shark" moment for iPhone?

Maybe they're trying to hammer the baby boomer demographic.

oh god no. U2 couldn't be more irrelevant if they tried. I doubt this will be a deciding factor for anyone to buy the iPhone 6.

Please no. Don't let this be the beginning of crapware on Macs.

Please.. coming preloaded with media from the biggest group in the world can hardly be likened to Windows coming preloaded with a million free trials of cheesy, tacky games and bloat preinstalled so it chews up system resources.

I'm calling BS on the album being pre loaded on every phone. Record company isn't giving anything out for free and Apple wouldn't spend the $$$ to do this.

Incredibly wealthy hard core social leftist company teams up with incredibly wealthy hard core social leftist band. Makes sense.

U2 stopped being interesting and relevant even before the first iPod was released.

Agree with the guy wanting Foo Fighters though - the best thing that ever came out of Nirvana was Dave Grohls music career.
