I use a wonderful little app called Sleeve, although I’ve just visited their website to get you the link and it looks like it doesn’t work anymore when streaming, but for local files it works great, didn’t notice this issue as I’m a local files kinda guy 😛

This looks pretty good! When Apple didn't add a widget, I found this app called Silicio that does what I was hoping it would do and it works nicely too. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/silicio-widgets-mini-player/id933627574

How do you mean ? My album artwork is embedded in the tracks. Normally the playlist artwork is created automatically when the playlist is populated ?

Apparently I'm not the only one

And apparently it’s by design according to Apple 😳🙄🤦‍♂️

Yet the weird thing is, if you select duplicate on the playlist, it will duplicate it with the default symbol but after 5 seconds, will populate with the 4 quadrants of album covers as before.

If you duplicate one of the blank default image playlists, it is populate the Playlist artwork correctly.

Double checking this, method only seems to work in TV app not Music.

So much for Apple consistency !!!

WORKAROUND: If you have existing music playlists which have the four quadrants populated with artwork, duplicate it, add you tracks you want and delete the existing tracks. 4 quadrants are then populated with your new track artwork.

Regarding the issue with artwork in playlists, I came across this script here today:

I tried it with a few playlists and it works as described. The script creates a new playlist with covers. The old playlist can then be deleted. Works perfectly for me!

Today I also solved the issue that I had with the Remote App since years. It is now playing complete albums and playlists again. Sometimes a cold, rainy day has its advantages. (My Ipad was not connected as a remote. I didn't know that was necessary. It worked .... until it did not. Never came across this easy solution.)

I'm not able to check it right now, but I'm sure I fixed the playlist artwork by exporting then re-importing the playlist.

File / Library / Export Playlist

Thank you for this.

I can’t remember but it’s like I right click (or option click or control click) on the playlist and I re-add the artwork manually. I’ve given up on trusting the music app.

I found you can't copy and paste from the artwork tab to other tracks or multiple tracks as you used to be able to, unless I'm now doing it incorrectly.

Generally the artwork handling has been below par compared to iTunes since I switched in the summer in my experience.

That’s quite nice actually. Giving it a spin currently 👍

Only issue I've seen so far is

1. not recognizing embedded lyrics in the files and seems to want an external LRC file ?

2. And some sorting is a bit wonky - in album view, 2 disc sets are sorted via track number only so the album track order is wrong but you can get round this by sorting via filename after adding that column or disc number and it seems to rectify itself.

3. On a 24/96 track it only displays 16bit.

4. Missing artwork on some tracks within an album that has artwork.

Hello guys, can I update to the newest MacOS? I have all local files and love organizing them myself. Is it all screwed on the latest Apple Music app? I have playlists, sorted to files, then upload to my iPhone. Is it still the same as Sequioa was? Any info on how is it would be greatly appreciated!

In Tahoe 26.4, You can now have the iOS style "Now Playing" screen in Windowed mode!

You will also notice that the "Karaoke" style lyrics are here!
But no Apple Music Sing as of right now.

Redesigned "Mini-player" too

Also right aligned lyrics for multiple singers.

For me, it would be enough to know if whoever decided to put the control panel at the bottom was drunk when they designed the new interface.

Finally came here to research whether to update to Tahoe, this is the first and most important thread for me to check out. The control panel being stuck at the bottom is a hard no for me.

I have my web browser windows positioned below the control bars of Finder and Music, and I'm not interested in changing that set-up, so I'm sticking with Sequoia.

I'm a local files only user, with my albums sorted alphabetical (last name) / chronological (like traditional music stores), and I will check out some of the 3rd party music apps mentioned in this thread. The only way I'll move to Tahoe is if there's a decent 3rd party local files app that works the way I want it with Tahoe.
