When I've run into this issue in the past, I've been able to fix it by signing out from my Cloud Library account, signing back in, and waiting for the initial library sync to finish before making changes again.
I've noticed that this tends to happen most often when I'm making metadata changes in the middle of a cloud library sync cycle — might be worth keeping an eye on the Activity window and making sure that there's nothing in progress while you're making changes.

Last I've heard, the Music app sets its internal sample rate to whatever the systemwide sample rate is set to when the application launches, and then does its own resampling. That would make it difficult to prevent sample rate conversion unless you actually relaunched Music.app in between song changes.wow, someone finally made an app for exclusive mode

You have any sources for this? Last I heard it all depends on the MIDI Setup, and I can switch this while music app is playing.

Edit: The article refers to iTunes. We now have Music app. Not sure if it handles audio differently though. But I have to wonder why would iTunes/Music lock into the sample rate of core audio? Wouldn't the core audio handle the output and re-sampling if needed? All iTunes/Music is doing is reading a digital file and sending it to output.

Aye, I have spoken to Apple Senior Eng a couple of weeks ago. They have this incident opened the only thing still synced is from editing via the web version of Apple Music, iOS. Any changes made on the macOS are just ignored by the cloud and it gets reverted back like a timeline (nothing happened).
In short, they confirmed this bug. I myself consider it a major issue as I use my macOS to browse music and organize my playlist.

Looks like its happening with song names shorter than the band name.
Its also incorrectly tagged as an 'Album with songs from various artists'; it shouldn't be displaying the artist's name under the song. I see that a lot in artist best-ofs/compilations, but I don't think that's Apple's fault. I uncheck that with Albums I've added to my Library.
If you are editing a song name in Album or Artist view (Song view is fine), you can't see anything you've typed if it increases the length. Despite it displaying full-width focus, the field is only as wide as the current song title. This is incredibly annoying for me because I often change song names from "VNV Nation Mix" to "Remix by VNV Nation", for example, to distinguish those songs from ones where the remixer actually named the mix something like "Contagion Mix by VNV Nation".
I just noticed this thread when I was about to make a post about the Music App. So I finally "upgraded" from Mojave to Monterey. So obviously I'm no longer running iTunes but Music (should have kept the name iTunes).
Numerous issues or quirks I've encountered:
- Maximizing from mini player does not seem to work. I can minimize just like before by clicking on the album art in the top of the window. But to get back to full size seem like not an option. The only way to do that is to select Window --> Music in the menu bar. But doing that leaves me with both a full window and the mini player. Really odd.
- The search function is really odd now. I keep my in "Song" view which is the classic view. But when searching the songs show up in a "tile view". It will show me albums, songs and playlists. It won't just show results in the classic "song" view.
- Making a playlist was weird also. At least when trying to do a search for certain music to then highlight and drag/drop into a playlist. But that's more to do with how the search function is now designed. Right clicking on one song to add to playlist is fine. But if you right click on a playlist there is an option "delete from library". Does that mean it would simply remove the playlist or would it actually remove the songs from my library? That needs to be reworded.
- I notice that certain preferences are gone. Such as preferences for CD ripping. Does the Music App still do that?
- Music playback. I did not realize at first but Apple decided to enable "sound check" by default. Some of my songs sounded lower volume than I'm used to but also sounded stuffy. Especially those songs I had purchased from the iTunes Music Store. I mostly still buy CDs but for a while many years ago I thought it was a good idea to buy songs from the iTunes Music Store. So I still have a small number of those songs. But once I turned off sound check many songs regardless of where they came from ended up sounding "bright" or shouty. I use the EQ and it's on "classical" regardless of what music I am playing. I guess I just prefer that setting. I noticed the change much more with rock music compared to instrumental type of music (jazz, blues, classical). I listen primarily through headphones with an external DAC and headphone amp.
- EQ setting disabled when using AirPlay. This has been a thing for a long time now so it's not unique to the Music App. However it's still dumb. The only workaround that I know if is to select AirPlay from the menu bar volume selector. Now that means I can then AirPlay any sounds from my Mac. However that also creates the issue of audio delay. If I click play in Music the song takes s few seconds to begin playing. If watching a YouTube video the audio is out of sync with the video.
Anyways these are the issues I have encountered so far. I've used iTunes/Music since the beginning and have largely not had any complaints. But in my view Apple has really messed up the App. Perhaps this is their way of giving us old timers who still have a local library and buy physical media the middle finger. Even the overall UI of Monterey is not so great. It's not easy to tell if I'm on the active window like it was in previous OS releases. I'm always checking to make sure. Sorry for the long rant. I hope this is the right place to post this.

Counter-intuitive, but close the MiniPlayer with the Red Dot or use CMD+W.
Preference > Files > Import Settings.
On the plus side, there are even more options.
Thanks for those. Clicking on the red button seems like a weird choice. I recall years ago they had a dedicated minimize/maximize button which made more sense. Putting the minimize button on top of the album art was always odd to me. I'm guessing that the CD ripping options only show up when a burner is connected to my Mac.
All I have is the window with "Files" at the top. Are you clicking on something to bring up the other window?
I do see that. Somehow that seems like a weird name for that even though I would be importing when ripping a CD. In my mind I was thinking it was for importing music files on my hard drive or an external drive. Thanks for your help.
