Isn’t it crazy how much of a difference? It’s only a dang ounce for crying out loud, but it feels noticeably different. I’m really pleased with the weight, especially considering the size.

Sorry a bit off topic with this post, but I thought I would ask your experience because you have such a well thought out thread going. Have you updated your 12 to iOS 14.2, and if so have you noticed any big difference in battery life? I updated my 12 pro on Thursday night, and I have see about a 20% decrease at the end of each since updating. Just getting your feel.

I’ve personally noticed better battery so far.

I did find an overnight drain of battery linked to Dropbox and it’s integration into the files app.

Tonight will be my first proper test as I actually couldn’t remember what percentage I went to bed on last night lol.

I actually haven’t. I’m doing that right now.

Ok! If you find anything please let me. Hope yours is better than mine. Also again thanks for the awesome thread!

Yeah I’ll be curious to see if it changes. I hope not. The last time I updated my SE2, my battery life went to crap, and it was some sort of setting I think, although I can’t remember for the life of me what it was. Maybe there’s something running in the background of yours that wasn’t before.

And you’re welcome. I feel like I’ve gotten a ton of grief for this thread - glad it has been helpful at least for some.

I am keeping a close eye on the battery in settings, and haven’t seen anything that looks odd. Same stuff as before. I already had erase my phone and setup from a backup once on iOS 14. I sure don’t want to have to do it again.

Oh this thread has been great! Don’t worry about those people. I have learned here that your always going to have those people that are going to be jerks no matter what you post here. Better to just ignore! Keep going, it’s been fun to read and learn.

So I completely wiped my phone and set it up again. Let’s see if that helps any. I have the bug where texts come in and don’t alert me and no badge or anything. Missed a couple that way, and that’s not fixed.

Same has been happening to me since the update.

Ok. Went from 53% to 45% from 12:20 until I checked waking at 07:38.

Nearly 1% or hour.

I’m sure with my Samsung it was more like 12-15% loss overnight and on some nights similar to this. But I never let my phone go below 20% anyway so it’s not going to be a problem.

I’m noticing my battery whilst using the device so much better than my previous phone.

Seriously can’t believe how the weight difference makes the 12 so much different vs the 12 Pro. It feels like the absolute perfect weight and even feels like it’s smaller for some reason. I can use it 1 handed no problem.

After update I’m experiencing worse battery life

Mine was 100% at 9:30 last night. I was up til around 1 a.m., so I used it on and off during that time, and then went to sleep. It’s 85% right now. I have no idea if that’s worse than normal. 😬

That could be possible - just not sure I’m willing to try another dang phone. Apple might just ban me from their website.

And truthfully, I’m almost 53 and my eyes aren’t getting better with age. I think having the ability to zoom to a nice size is really helpful.

Not to go off-topic. If your avatar is you and you are 53, you look so great for 53!

A question for @ssledoux, @GrumpyMom and others finding OLED screens difficult for their eyes. Has it changed with iPhones 12 or do you still feel some discomfort?
Okay I have an answer for you now. I find the 12 screen something I can use but it produces a strained feeling in my eyes and some fatigue. My 11 Pro does not do that. I will try to make an analogy to explain the situation. It’s sort of like when men spend all day at an event wearing a suit and tie, or a woman spends all day wearing heels and an underwire bra with all the scaffolding 😆 and they finally come home and take all that off and get into their comfy clothes and fuzzy slippers. You can function well enough in your business attire but you want to live in comfort. Well my eyeballs and this area of my head around my eyes relax like that going from the 12/12 Pro display to my 11 Pro display.
So I’m sending my 12 back and keeping my 11 Pro.

But all isn’t lost. I own two AT&T lines. I had been running android phones on the second line. I currently have a Samsung s20 on that line. The S20 is a fine phone but the fingerprint sensor hates me. So I can’t conduct any transactions on it because I can’t use biometric authentication for any of my accounts. The cameras are good but not great. I really valued that phone for the Qualcomm modem.

So...I am offering it to Apple in trade for an IPhone mini. The mini is the phone I’ll carry around to make calls on and take most of my pictures on because I really do think the camera improvements are noticeable.

My Pro will still be here for web surfing and forum posting and using the 2x lens for portrait photography.

And that’s how I’m solving my phone drama of 2020.

In an ideal world for ME the iPhone 12 Pro would have had better balance and the display of the 11 Pro.

For people who are not suffering pwm sensitivity, the 12’s do have slightly prettier displays.

As for my interest in Android phones, I still have a Pixel 2 and a Pixel 3XL that have managed to remain remarkably relevant thanks to Google updates that even manage to continue to bring updates to the cameras. It’s a shame iOS updates don’t do the same for iPhones.

Oh forgot, this time I ordered green. So I’ll have a green mini to go with my green 11 Pro. It is funny, my original plan was to just trade away my SE and get a mini and keep my 11 pro. My SE did go back to Apple but as a trade to bring down the cost of my daughter’s new iPhone that she bought from her own earnings.

😆 I'm 34 and have gray so wear it with pride! (Apple add gray to memojis 😝)
When I was in high school one of my friends had grey hairs coming in and she was only 16!!! Fortunately she took it in stride and found it amusing. It happens.

My mom infuriates me. She was complaining about how she was starting to get some gray hair around her temples. Well, get this...the woman was in her late 70’s when that conversation took place! 🤨 Once the gray started she did go salt and pepper gray pretty fast but she’s 84 for goodness sake! She also only just started getting some frown lines and forehead lines a couple of years ago. Incredible. She, her mom, and my dad’s mom were all celebrated beauty queens.

You’d think I would have every genetic advantage. But no. 😒. I got many of the features from the beautiful women in my family but they combined really weirdly on me so the result is sort of oddly potato. 🤣 I guess I don’t have many wrinkles for 54, but I match my 84 year old mom for grays. I was coloring it but I decided to take a break from the chemicals.

I’d kind of like to get some work done to firm up my jawline. But my husband keeps reminding me if I start spending money on cosmetic procedures, that’s less money for technology. 😧😱

Oh well, I think there are some videos out there on cosmetic uses of duct tape! 😬

HAHA, I love that your husband said "Less for tech!"

My thing is... I have 6 beautiful children and an amazing wife that's put up with me (and my tech nerding) for 11 years so far. If they love me this long then gray is not a worry!

Gray to me is a sign of overcoming hardships and strength in life. Besides models and people on TV are usually faked by Photoshop ™️ and major makeup ®️
