A question for
@ssledoux,
@GrumpyMom and others finding OLED screens difficult for their eyes. Has it changed with iPhones 12 or do you still feel some discomfort?
Okay I have an answer for you now. I find the 12 screen something I can use but it produces a strained feeling in my eyes and some fatigue. My 11 Pro does not do that. I will try to make an analogy to explain the situation. It’s sort of like when men spend all day at an event wearing a suit and tie, or a woman spends all day wearing heels and an underwire bra with all the scaffolding 😆 and they finally come home and take all that off and get into their comfy clothes and fuzzy slippers. You can function well enough in your business attire but you want to live in comfort. Well my eyeballs and this area of my head around my eyes relax like that going from the 12/12 Pro display to my 11 Pro display.
So I’m sending my 12 back and keeping my 11 Pro.
But all isn’t lost. I own two AT&T lines. I had been running android phones on the second line. I currently have a Samsung s20 on that line. The S20 is a fine phone but the fingerprint sensor hates me. So I can’t conduct any transactions on it because I can’t use biometric authentication for any of my accounts. The cameras are good but not great. I really valued that phone for the Qualcomm modem.
So...I am offering it to Apple in trade for an IPhone mini. The mini is the phone I’ll carry around to make calls on and take most of my pictures on because I really do think the camera improvements are noticeable.
My Pro will still be here for web surfing and forum posting and using the 2x lens for portrait photography.
And that’s how I’m solving my phone drama of 2020.
In an ideal world for ME the iPhone 12 Pro would have had better balance and the display of the 11 Pro.
For people who are not suffering pwm sensitivity, the 12’s do have slightly prettier displays.
As for my interest in Android phones, I still have a Pixel 2 and a Pixel 3XL that have managed to remain remarkably relevant thanks to Google updates that even manage to continue to bring updates to the cameras. It’s a shame iOS updates don’t do the same for iPhones.
Oh forgot, this time I ordered green. So I’ll have a green mini to go with my green 11 Pro. It is funny, my original plan was to just trade away my SE and get a mini and keep my 11 pro. My SE did go back to Apple but as a trade to bring down the cost of my daughter’s new iPhone that she bought from her own earnings.
