I think the best red in the last few years was on the XR. It was such a deep, gorgeous red.

I remember when that iPod Nano was the hottest thing around! Apple has surely made some cool devices over the years.
What case are you using with your black 12?

That ipod red looks very much like the red that was on my SE 2020. The red that’s on the iPhone 12 has more of a coral tone to it.
iPhone SE2020 on top. Coral iPhone XR in the middle. New iPhone 12 Product Red in the box.

Out of those 3 photos I think I like the 12 red better with Matt red camera and Apple logo looks great.

Yes it is noticeably lighter. Other members of my family compared them and agreed there’s a difference you can feel.

It’s not just that there’s a weight difference, but a weight distribution difference. The 12 Pro feels much more top heavy than the 12. I have seen mention of that elsewhere on MacRumors but it was hard for me to know exactly what they meant by that until I got the 12 and felt the difference. That has ramifications for the stress on the hand needed to keep your grip steady on the 12 Pro. Most people won’t care. But I think any of us dealing with chronic joint or nerve pain will be sensitive to it.

I still don’t know if this lighter better weighted 12 is small enough and light enough that it would give you the one handed ease of use you’re looking for. I just typed the last few sentences with one hand with the aid of a pop socket extending my grip. But it’s not easy!

I put the pop socketed case on while my pinky heals from the weight of the 12 Pro. It’s still a little bit sore when I put weight on it. By next week I should know if I can be completely without pinky pain using the 12 in my silicone case without pop sockets. If not, I will continue to use the pop socket.

With the 12 Pro I could not even use the pop socket to spare my hand some pain. It just caused the other fingers supporting the Pop Socket to hurt. That Pacific Blue 12 Pro was so beautiful but I just didn’t enjoy using it.

Yea as I’m typing now I can feel the top heaviness and it might sound crazy but it’s a strain in on my pinky. In fact my right pinky is sore from using the pinky shelf. I had to switch to my left pinky shelf. Even with my 3 fingers behind the phone for support I can feel the top heaviness.

The only reason I got the pro was because of the excellent trade in deal with AT&T. It’s only going to cost like $6.67 a month with my SE2020 trade in.

My wife has an 8 which will be eligible for the same credit trade in. I thought that I would want the mini but I’m loving this battery life and screen since I stream lots of video and other content. I’m getting used to the size which at first I didn’t like but slowly really really liking it.

So it looks like I’ll be giving this 12 pro to my wife and getting the 12. She uses phone with 2 hands anyway.

Well I’ve had a Loopy case on preorder since before I ordered the phone, but it is just now shipping. In the meantime, I made myself a “loopy” case with a cheap silicone case and extra loop I had in the drawer, so I guess basically a Loopy case. ;-p

I’ve had Loopy cases since my 8+ for sure (if not my 7+), and now I can’t imagine using a phone regularly without one.

Which Loopy did you order? I’m going to try one since the cheap attachment thing I got off Amazon awhile back probably isn’t a fair approximation of the design after all. I wish Loopy had a clear case but I’m thinking tropical hibiscus will look nice framing my red camera. But I’ll probably get Blush to honor my mom as a breast cancer survivor. I wish I could buy several! Lol but I promised myself I’d stop buying so many cases. It’s always sad when I trade a phone in and see all the cases I’m left with. I donate them or give them to friends and family, but still... I need to tone it down a little. 😳

I ordered the midnight leopard - thought it would look sleek on my black phone, but I realized it also would’ve looked really sharp with the red!

Yeah that’s nice one for the black phone and for the red as well. Decisions decisions! :D

I think I’m going to try their screen protector, too. The one I have doesn’t extend far enough to the edges and is picking up dust along the edges.

Ok finally got the 12 and gave the 12 Pro to my wife because she’s uses her phone 2 handed most of the time.

WOW what a difference in weight vs the Pro. Feels so much better in the hand. Not too heavy. Just the right amount of weight!!!

So to you who know Loopy, I'm intrigued...

What's the material of the case like? How is it compared to the Apple silicone cases--they're my favorite. Not a big fan of hard, slick plastic. Curious what these feel like? Can you find them anywhere in a store to get a feel for them? Or do they just sell them on their website?

I’ve yet to see one in person. I ended up not going through with my order. Lol I’m afraid I got a bit of sticker shock as I saw the total for the screen protector and the case together. Having just bought Apple silicone cases and clear cases and MagSafe chargers, I’m going to just step back and wait for sales of after the holidays.

A question for @ssledoux, @GrumpyMom and others finding OLED screens difficult for their eyes. Has it changed with iPhones 12 or do you still feel some discomfort?
I’m still trying to figure that out.

I started feeling an odd pressure build behind my eyes watching a YouTube review and when I took my glasses off I was immediately fine. My glasses have polarized lenses to reduce glare when driving, and another forum member mentioned that as an issue for them. I’m overdue for new glasses as mine are falling apart, but pandemic means I can’t go in to try frames on... But when I get new ones the polarization is going to be omitted.

I haven’t had the headaches and dizziness I usually find with OLED incompatibility. I’ll definitely let you all know if I find I need to return it if that develops.

Right now I’m just working out the quirks, like that weird issue with my glasses. I can read text fine with my glasses on. For some reason watching motion on the display with them on was very uncomfortable.

Definitely harder plastic than silicone, but still a somewhat flexible plastic. It’s a decent thickness, and a little slick I guess, but never difficult to grip or anything because of the loop.

They only sell them on their website, but they do offer a 30 day return policy.

I never order the screen protectors from there. I buy the case, and pick up an extra loop ($5) to get free shipping. I figure it never hurts to have a spare loop (having one to do a makeshift loopy til my case arrived has been a lifesaver since they were shipping so much later than the new phones).

I’m obsessed, and I’ve never known anyone to buy one and not like it. I’ve gotten most of my family and some friends hooked on them.

I’ve never really seen the Loopy cases go on sale. That said, I never buy their screen protectors - there are too many inexpensive ones to be had on Amazon.

I’m not having issues this time, and I was really sensitive with the XS Max - so much so that I didn’t really want to even try another phone with OLED.

After some people on here mentioned adjusting the white point in the accessibility settings, I keep that to 50% for sure, and when reading in the dark, I keep my screen fairly dim as well. No problems so far.

Isn’t it crazy how much of a difference? It’s only a dang ounce for crying out loud, but it feels noticeably different. I’m really pleased with the weight, especially considering the size.

Hey I think they’re worth a try. It really makes using the bigger phones with one hand much easier. When people compare to something like a pop socket, I tell them there’s really no comparison. There’s something about being able to have your finger in the loop that gives you a more secure grip, and because you only have to put a single finger in the loop, you can spread your hand out to support the phone and balance out the weight of the phone so much better, all while being able to stretch and reach with your thumb.

I know that’s probably a lot more detailed crap than you care to know about a phone case, but I’m serious - they’re pretty awesome.

So this is just my makeshift loopy I’m using til my new one arrives Monday (cannot WAIT), and I know this is probably a bit over the top, but pics to show what I mean.

In the first you can see what I mean by being able to balance out the phone’s weight with your hand.

In the second, you can see I’m able to reach that top left corner of my 12. And that’s with my arm reaching around in front of my iPP to take the pic.

FYI, I’m 5’3, and though the pics make my hand look like a giant’s, they are pretty small. ;-p

Actually, I genuinely appreciate all the detail. I work that way, too. :)

I’m 5’4” so it’s like seeing my hand reaching around—looks very ergonomically-friendly.

Yea an dang ounce really does make a noticeable difference. My brother who has a 12 Pro was playing with his sons 12. He said he felt the weight difference initially but after playing with it didn’t notice it.

I was playing with my now wife’s 12 Pro this morning and to me it’s was noticeable and after an hour playing with it it still was heavy.

I rest my phone on my pink mostly and the weight of the 12 doesn’t make my pinky ache, the 12 Pro definitely does.

I love it, and can’t really imagine using a phone without one now. I’ve been using them since the 8+.
I feel the same way about the Apple silicone case :) and I’ve been using those since 6, I think. It’s nice to find what works for you, but it seems healthy, generally, to experiment.
