and greater PPI and $100 cheaper.
And smaller battery, smaller screen, and thus (possibly) slightly underclocked A7.

Ummmm, because there is a thing as too small?
They've sold millions of minis. The existence and success of the mini is beyond doubt.
And this would matter because...?![]()
Because some people would prefer the bigger screen and battery?![]()
?..Now the Air is lighter, much lighter to the point it's very close to Mini weight. All combined with bigger screen and battery makes it a very tough choice. The absolute win for the Mini is pixel density. Portability is good with both now.
I'm sure it's true that they are selling a lot, but also remember, they are trained on exactly what to say. It's like they're fed a script.
I just got the Air last week and my wife still wants a Retina Mini. Quite honestly, she wants it because it will fit in her purse easier than an Air.
I was at the Edina Minnesota Apple store this morning. It wasn't packed to the rafters but still pretty busy. I asked one of the sales associates if the iPad Air was selling well. Her eyes lit up and she said they were "flying off the shelves". She also said a lot of people coming in thinking they would want the Mini ended up getting an Air instead.![]()

Yes, Air is exactly size I need and no need of anything else besides iphone.
Haven't been to that Apple store. Normally I go to MOA or Roseville! Might get my Air from Target though, since I'm trading my mini![]()

It's just good business to make claims of high demand no matter what the truth is.
Those in my area, at work, friends, and my local Apple store where I spend lots of money on all things Apple...are waiting for the retina mini.
It's a much better product, I can't wait to dump my low res mini, for a retina mini.
you assume Apple was BS'ing me?
I work in a reseller and I have actually been surprised how little we have sold! I thought because or the new form factor it would have flown off our shelves but we still have so much stock. Maybe people are neglecting the resellers cause everyone knows that stock is readily available everywhere.

I think the Air is nice with the improvements, but it's still just a giant iPod Touch. Mine's been collecting dust for a while. Now the MS Surface 2? That's some innovation.
