Well, ill actually be going from a dual 2.4ghz to a dual 2.9ghz with 3mb of L2 cache. And 2GB of 667mhz DDR2 ram to 4gb 1333mhz DDR3 ram. And my crappy 256mb GPU to 1GB PCI Expresss.

I will also be able to easily overclock. So id say thats a pretty substantial upgrade and your substantially crazy for thinking otherwise.
Your money and your plans, I just think you can do better with just a little more money. You're spending 500 dollars on a C2D machine that will only be marginally faster then what you have now. I don't think it will be substantial but hey like I said its your money.

Good luck

eh well what do you know?? lol

I'd spend an extra 40 bucks to get the 5670. It'll give you a slightly faster clock core, but most importantly will give you GDDR5 memory-- which will give you double the memory bandwidth on your gpu, a drastic difference.

As it stands, that 5570 probably doesn't even have the necessary bandwidth to take advantage of 1gb of memory, it's all just a marketing ploy.

How about I just leave it how it is now and maybe ill crossfire it with another of the same card eventually? Will that performance increase be pretty substantial?

OP, that build makes me sad... You can get an AMD build that will perform better and cost less.

Try the Phenom II X2... that gives you bang for buck. Also, try getting the 5670... you get much more performance out of that. If not, try the 5750.

That Sunbeam PSU is a ticking time bomb that will create fantastic fireworks out of your components. Do not skim on the PSU.

Its really quite a bit more than I wanted to spend... anyone see any places to cut some money that wont hurt my gaming experience too bad and I can easily upgrade in the future?

You could definitely save on the case and potentially the mb (i dont think you need ddr3 for a gaming rig....ddr2 works fine and is cheaper in ram too)

what does he know lol

hahaha... ughhh why is everyone so pro AMD. It really isnt that much cheaper. Like $20 maybe. Especially with how I have the combo deals setup. And dont you guys think that Intel is going to be better for the long run.. like future upgrades and yada yada.

If you aren't going to accept our advice than why even ask? Why? You are lucky this thread is even open since you seem to be most likely pirating your Windows OS.

Why all the hate? I like getting everyones advice. Thats why im posting here. Im just asking questions.

And I never said im pirating Windows.

Well you hinted at it.
So how are you getting your copy of windows?

You are getting a Core2 Duo. The chip and the socket are approaching end of life so that argument about future upgrades is rather worthless.

In the low end market AMD are much better bang for your buck.

Ok, I think this one will make everyone happy!!! Check it out. Im pretty pumped. Thanks for all the awesome advice. Hopefully you all think its perfect.

That looks good, but now that Ive added that it says that gpu has a "Minimum 450 Watt Power Supply Requirement"... so do I need a bigger psu than the 400 corsair that I have selected?
I had my Earthwatts 380 running much more than that. The 400CX Corsair is more than enough.
