I have taken one apart and put it back together/upgraded a bunch of things. But yes this is my first build from scratch. Why?

(I await the condescending remarks)

Nothing condescending about it. Your questions and uncertainty on a lot of things line up when I built my first computer. I had a lot of questions like yours. Also a friend of mine when he built his first one he had a lot of question like yours. He had taken apart and even upgraded more than one computer before hand but building one from scratch is kind of a bit different.

Heck my friend went fan crazy on his first one. The thing sounded like an plane taking off it had so many fans.

It is all those extra choices in selecting all the components that makes it harder. The extra choices makes it very overwhelming.

So the question was more to confirm a suspension than anything else.

OP, here is a build I put together for a customer a while ago. He was also budget limited and demanded good graphics. Use this build as a basis for yours.

I don't know if the combos I am about to post are still active since this was 3 months away, but you can catch on idea if you know what I mean. Case and optical drive are small (sub $100) pieces that really don't factor much in. You can save up for 2 more weeks and get a better CPU.

Stick to AMD. No it's not AMD love here, it's just a C2D is not recommended in 2010. LGA 775 is near its death.

Also, might I point out that those prices go lower if you factor in the Mail in Rebate that accompanies those parts.

Cool, thanks for the tips. How does this look? Let me know if you see anywhere that I can shave some cash off. (but not the case or hd. I want that case)

400W is a bit tight, try getting 450W or 500W that will give you more headroom if need be if you decide to overclock that 5770.

However, here is a nice 700W PSU that after all rebates comes in at the exact price of your Corsair unit $49.99, oh and free shipping.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341019

It's an OCZ PSU, so it's quality. That PSU should last you and give you all the headroom you need if you ever upgrade or add more stuff.

Do you just search with Bing to get this cashback? How does that work? I am kinda curious!
http://www.bing.com/cashback

You can select NewEgg (it's usually on the Page 1 list) or search for it. Once you use the link you just do the captcha and provide your e-mail. All your purchases will be tracked after that and you'll get notification via e-mail.

I've had a Hotmail account for an eternity. Once my cashback hits $5 or more I send it to my PayPal and store it there to spend or send it to my bank account.

It's 10-25% off at HP!
