If I don't have it within 3 days of launch because I waited ONE day to preorder it, I'm going to be very pissed and probably go Droid.

You knew there was huge buzz around the release of this phone, you knew there were a ton of people waiting up to order one at 3am eastern, but if you don't get a phone on release day because *you* decided to wait a day to pre-order it you're going to be pissed? And somehow every carrier and the manufacturer running out of stock is a personal slight to you? And, apparently, your decision to move to a different cell phone manufacturer will cause Apple, and the carriers to think twice about letting you wait an extra day next time.

Sure.

As far as I know, any iPhone 4S'S (Is that grammatically correct?) that were pre-ordered in the store would take 14-21 days. It's possible that also goes for Premier customers as well?

Which is fairly annoying since we all came into work on Friday at 7 A.M to work a 12 hour shift and then were told by management that they didn't want us to take Direct Fulfillment orders for customers unless they absolutely insisted that they wanted to. Apparently they are anticipating getting so much stock in the stores for launch weekend that they want customer's to come get them that way. I assume they think they can make accessory sales if they do that.

My conspiracy theory is that it's all a PR move on the company's part. That if there are massive lines at the launch, it looks like people are choosing AT&T for their provider over the other two "newcomers" to the iPhone game. Haven't reached out to my friends working at other carriers but I expect the same thing is going down over there based on the reports of customers getting told that their order would take 14-21 days there too.

That does not mean you are screwed, there have been other discussions on this and the same thing happened last year. Everyone got their phone on launch day.

Even if it were the case there is nothing that the reps can do.

You knew when the preorders began, you chose to wait - you chose to gamble and no one feels bad for you, especially those of us that stayed up or got up early to preorder.

It wasn't as simple as me "deciding" to not preorder the second they were available. I didn't go into detail as I had no reason to. I needed the extra day to get enough money together to buy the damn thing as I didn't know when the money would be taken out. It's kind of hard to put $350+ together when you work less than 20 hours a week for $8.50 an hour and have other things to pay for.

But yes, it is the manufacturer's fault if they run out. Apple's been doing this for quite a while now.

Yeah it's probably just me being my pessimistic (among other things) self. What are the chances of people receiving them on Thursday? Like, how does that work?

I don't think there is a method to it really. Last year I got my 4 a day early, so did a lot of other people. And I live near Philly all the way on the east coast. People that live on the west coast got theirs after me and that makes no sense to me. From China to Alaska to Philly in less time than China>Alaska>California? Oh well, I wasn't complaining.

As I stated in another thread I think it is smart to "allow" some phones to be delivered a day early because it will probably cut back greatly on the "activation traffic" on launch day. I remember more than one time when iTunes just couldn't handle all the activations and people had to wait hours to update/activate their phones. That being said I have no idea if Apple plans for early deliveries or if it is just a FedEx fluke. Considering FedEx is delivering hundreds of thousands of more packages than usual on ONE day, I doubt they care about what Apple wants and they just get the stuff out of their warehouses and trucks ASAP.

See above to know why you're wrong.

That's pretty sweet to hear, as I live in Delaware County :)

The truth still remains that it's no ones fault but your own that you did not preorder early enough to receive it on launch day.

I love seeing stuff like this. Gives me a sense of nostalgia. Years ago, when my daughter didn't get her way, she'd tell me "I will NOT be your friend anymore!"

Of course, she was about 5 at the time.

Pretty sure I don't control how many hours per week I work, how much gas and car insurance cost or how much I get paid. You were saying?

Oh, you're right then. The rest of us who saved up our money so that we would be ready when the phone was launched are just over-planners. I see that the universe was clearly conspiring against you. Perhaps the ghost of Steve Jobs should personally deliver a phone to you tomorrow for free to make up for his company's clearly egregious error in not releasing their new product when you had enough buffer in your bank account to purchase this luxury product.

*sigh*

Normal reps cannot access Premier acc orders and such. Premier CS only works on weekdays. If you want to talk to someone, call Premier CS tomorrow.

Oh if only you understood how complex life can really be.

" If a problem can be solved, no need to worry about it. If a problem cannot be solved, then worrying will do no good."

Chill.

That's right. I'm sure your life is much more complex than mine. Anyone working 20 hours per week making minimum wage must have a very stressful existence indeed.

The fact of the matter is, you not having the money for whatever reason you may give is no one's fault but your own. If you don't like your life circumstances, then change them. I was laid off at the height of the recession, did I get a job at Wendy's and scrape together my pennies to blow on a dumb cell phone? No, I went back to school, finished my degree, and started a new career. I made my situation better for myself and if there were things that I couldn't afford, I didn't come on the internet whining about how the world wasn't fair to me because I didn't have the money when I needed it because my life was so hard. If your life is so complicated, and money is so tough for you, you probably shouldn't be spending $350+ on a stupid phone in the first place. It's called priorities. Adults typically have them.

Once again, if only you could understand. But then again, how could you? You speak of priorities and yet yours were apparently messed up as you had to "finish" your degree. You think $8.50 is minimum wage, and refer to the iPhone as a dumb and stupid cell phone while trying to argue with me in the iPhone section of a forum. Life can't always be simply turned around. If you manage to swap bodies with me for a day, you can tell me how I should or shouldn't spend my money. Until then, keep it to yourself. I didn't ask for your opinions nor do I want them. Understand? I suppose I'll find out soon enough.

I don't understand what the fuss is all about. I ordered mine on Friday via the Premier Online Store. The email confirmation said that the iPhone "is expected to be delivered on Oct 14, 2011." If it is, great. If not, I'll wait.

Well, that's the mature perspective. Its no fun! :D

If you don't think your job and income are anyone else's business, then don't make it so by posting details about it on a public forum. If you do, you're asking for the opinions you get.

This will be the first smart phone I could buy new, while it was still new and while I'm very excited and happy about it, a delay in shipping is not the end of the world.

I think they are saying that you probably shouldn't be ordering a phone for $350 if you only work less than 20 hours a week. You do control that, don't you?

"If only you could understand"!!! "... how could you?"??? Oh the drama. My messed up priorities and hard fought college education mean that I can't imagine making anywhere close to minimum wage, so you're right, I was off by a big $1.25. I guess that means you've won this moral argument. You sure did put me in my place.

You want to argue priorities with me? I'll tell you what, trying to make sense to a nonsensical child is not a priority for me. So let's say you've won, congratulations. Hope you get your phone tomorrow from the ghost of Steve, you clearly deserve it. I, for one, am bored with you.

I have an idea that customer service reps are so tired of being yelled at by impatient customers, they purposely say whatever comes to mind to frustrate the whining callers.

Can't say I blame them. Someones got to do there job, why make them out to be stupid?

Not getting your way? Welcome to the big boys club :)

if you were to preorder right now, it would ship out in 14-21 days. thats probably what she meant
