I might wait till then as well. But, it looks like the Prime will only be available on Verizon to start. I have AT&T and can't switch to Verizon for various reasons. I am not about to wait another 6 months for a phone even if it is a lot better than the iPhone 5 or GS2.

But iPhone 5 will only be available on Sprint, right?

Ha, yea I am not buying into that rumor. I can't possibly see Apple doing that. Like they need the money from Sprint that bad to alienate all the customers they have on Verizon and At&T.

Any ever notice that only the SGS II seems to be held up repeatedly as iPhone's main competitor available now. I guess Windows phones are not quite yet in the running... In any case who'd have thought that a phone - a communication device used for sending and receiving sounds - would be judged so much by its screen.

The Atrix is a great phone and can compete with any phone out today. When everything is stock it's smoother than my iPhone 4. After rooting and unlocking the bootloader it's amazing with CM7 and a 1.3GHz kernel. I'm going to check out the SGS II this week but I'll probably wait for the Nexus Prime before I get another phone.

See and the problem I have with apple is they are so far behind its unreal. The announce cut and paste and that is suppose to be revolutionary. Everyone cheers like that is a major break through.

Either you just like to flame, or you have no clue of what you are talking about.

So another problem with Android- the lack of good games. Seriously- this sucks. Sure, people with Android phones can spout off a dozen or so titles (maybe) but for millions of Android users, a dozen or so titles covers hardly anyone's gaming preferences. I game on my iPhone a lot. The content in the app store is so much better than in the marketplace. A ton of Android games look like ports of old 80's games. Seriously disappointing. So here I have this large, beautiful screen (albeit with lower resolution) and I can't even enjoy playing games on it! I sure as hell don't want to have to carry around my iP4 to game and my SGS2 for everything else. Again, Android users will probably list off some good games (few), but then they'll say something such as "I don't game very much" or"Well stay with iOs if you want games but Android has more this or that..." blah blah blah. But honestly, the extreme lack of good apps is weird- considering the size of the market place, the length of time it's been implemented, and the amount of users on it.

No sorry I don't game on my phone. Call, email, text, snap an occasional picture or video, check sports scores, browse the web, ect. Basically correspond, but no I'm not using it as a PSP. If your #1 priority with a phone is to game, then yes, by all means stick with the app store if their selection is better. It all comes down to what the individual is looking for out of their device. Apple likes to spoon feed, if that's what you like, god bless. Not saying the iPhone isn't a good phone, but I can call it what it is.

I called a couple AT&T stores in NYC about the GS2 and it was sold out at all of them. The Times Square store has a few display models. Going to go check it out after work. The tiny AT&T store near where I work didn't even have a display model.

Yeah I'm not saying necessarily wait a long time for it to be released. I just think it's worth a one week wait to see what info they give out. If they don't give a release date, or mention that it's a VZW exclusive (which I still do not believe), then yeah...it's a no go for sure.

For what I put in (), I guess it could be something like the GS2 and VZW is getting a carrier specific version...but I don't see the others being left out in the cold.

How are iOS users spoon fed? iOS has better apps and better control over those apps...

So I went and checked out the Galaxy S2.

I can't really say much, because playing I just played around with in the store.

That said though I actually liked it. Liked it enough to buy it? Maybe. I know for a fact if the iPhone introduced tomorrow is not a redesign I definitely won't be going with it.

This is a recurring thing I've heard on this thread. No problem with it. It's just like me- I was intrigued and when playing around with it, it seemed great. But wait until you get to buying apps for it- use the marketplace- try to deny apps certain functions like internet usage- you'll see that iOS allows more power to their users and better apps. The lack of games hurts.

You keep bringing up games. I would guess that gaming is not a top consideration for most people when buying a phone.

Actually, if something in iOS is happening in the background, you really don't even know it...no way to check and see what each app is doing. This is the first time I've ever heard anyone say iOS allows more power to their users

I'm not really into games on the phone so that's not a deal breaker for me. I'm more looking for Business / Admin apps and a few others. Most of which I've found so I seem to be pretty set in that respect.

Cut and paste, folders, multitask, and tomorrow NOTIFICATIONS!!! How long have other devices had notifications? Spoon fed, IJS. Listen, I'm not saying other phones don't have limitations, but to deny the iPhone has had or doesn't have any is short sighted.

you forgot about MMS

While the screen of the S2 is bigger, its resolution is actually less than the iPhone 4 and the DPI is far less than the iPhone. You can really see a big difference when using the browser. I am not willing to sacrifice screen quality for a small screen size increase.

Actually, if you check all background tasks running, you'll see A TON of services running in the background in Android. Problem is- you don't know what they do! Further more, you don't which apps are accessing which tasks. However, while you can't SEE what processes apps are using in iOS in a list, you do know if they have internet access, gps, and others. Therefore, if you want to cut location data off for an app, it lists the app and you can cut it off. Simple as that. On Android, even if you tell the app that it's not allowed to sync, Android will still allow it to. How screwed up is that?

Believe me, the screen is utter crap, I'm almost ashamed to admit I own it. ;)

I find it amusing that you bring these old things up. While cut and paste was needed, when it was implemented, it worked (and still does) great. People made a big deal about this because there weren't many other issues other than these, AND the relative dislike for Apple among many people.

Folders- in my opinion, still need work. They aren't done right.

Since apple has brought multitasking, it's still ahead of all competitors IMO.

Notifications- Apple's notification system is obtrusive and annoying, however, it's not like Apple is going to say "We're the first to bring you notifications!!"

I think you're drinking a little too much of the Kool-aid buddy...

You say spoon fed- I just don't really think you know what that means. How do you feel about not being able to control Android application processes? Do you think you should have to root your phone to tell an app it can or can't access certain core processes?

He's not arguing that iPhone has limitations. He's arguing against your usage of the word "spoonfed," which can be interpreted very differently from what you have seemed to intended there.

Very well said and 100% accurate. People need to face the facts. Is the iphone great? Yes! Are there better phones out RIGHT NOW? YES! Like I said before, they better bring it tomorrow!!

I bring it up because I can, sucks that it's the truth but it is. Not many will argue that apple isn't restrictive and often lags behind. Their products are great, but to deny they don't lag in the features department sometimes is nuts. It's clear that its YOU that doesn't know what spoon fed means.

How do you know if an app has internet access and "others" in iOS? And what's "others" anyway? The only setting I see is for location services. Then's there's push notifications as well, which would give certain apps permission to collect data pretty much all the time.

That is probably the issue with some of the apps on android? i.e. Facebook is set to send push notifications, and user "ends process" for FB in the app list. Well, that's conflicting. If it has push permission, it's going to go right back to collecting data. In iOS, even if you do turn off push, you really have no idea if an app is still using data.

So I finally went and played with the SG2 after work at the AT&T store and I have to say I was pretty impressed.

To my eyes the screen is just as nice as the iPhone4. The colors are very crisp. It was very fast and responsive. It seems to be sold out in NYC a day after it came out on AT&T. I called 3 stores, including the flagship store in Times Square and they were all sold out.

I will be disappointed if Apple doesn't release a redesigned iPhone but the SG2 will be more than fine for me.
