I just used my cellphone number (no dashes or parenthesis) in the reference number field.
My iPhone is in Anchorage, but the apple store status is still prepared for shipment.
My iPhone 4S has shipped!!

I didn't get my update that it left anchorage yesterday till mid-flight.

May be a bit off topic but I just spoke with a senior apple rep about my 64gb white phone and he assured me that even though the apple webpage is not updating there are a ton of phones they they shipped to the states early and my phone will be leaving from that batch. So if you did order real early and you have no idea where your phone is then this is probably the case with yours as well.

When mine landed in Anchorage it updated right away...

Man, I remember tracking my iPad 2 here on MacRumors and how crazy fun it was. Now it's the stalking of my iPhone 4S.
I ordered my husband's first, then my own within minutes of his the morning of Oct. 7th on Apple.com. His package has hit Alaska but my order is still Preparing for Shipment! Figured we'd ship out at the same time since our orders were right on top of each other. He's getting the evil eye right now.
Edit: I have used the Track by Reference but no dice. Giving him daggers now. LOL!!

Using this method displays shipping information.
However, the destination is Venice, CA.
I live in San Diego.
I don't think this is my phone.
No worries though, Apple has never let me down!

Did you order through verizon or apple.com. also what did you put in for reference number on fedex site?
Also on the 1140pm train out of Shenzhen, ordered around 7am, this is my phone 32GB black, wife's 32GB white is still preparing for shipment. Was able to pull my tracking info from UPS this morning, but did not get the email from Apple till this afternoon. Unsure what is up with my wife's phone, but imagine it will be shipping tomorrow morning at the latest.

thats because there are multiple ref numbers, if you also put in your zip code then you'll only see your package.

You mean lots of phones left china earlier than the ones that are leaving now and that those phones are being shipped to customers from here in the US? I guess that makes sense because I bet it would be hard for the workers in China to get 1 million + phones out in one week. Is that what you are saying?

I did, but only one package shows up! The bumper and phone are coming. I don't have two tracking numbers to split the two up. I highly doubt they are both in the same package.
how do you put in your phone number to find tracking info? Is it ***-***-****or are there no dashes or what? Im not getting anywhere with it
When I used UPS, it was phone number without dashes.

After you ordered ATT should have sent you an order confirmation with an order number. Go here: https://www.wireless.att.com/order_status/ fill in the info and it will tell you everything.

BUT i hit "get status updates" and set it up to get up dates to my phone. less than a minute later i get a text

i'm soooo happy!!!
