I don't know how close they were, but if I knew a good friend and colleague of mine was very ill and had taken a turn for the worse, I wouldn't be at the top of my game either. I'm sure Tim will get the hang of things as time goes on

This.

Give Tim a chance, everyone's going to look sub-standard when following in SJ's footsteps. He pretty much perfected the keynote.

Welcome to reality fanbois.

Can't handle it? Time for you to leave.

Tim Cook is the consummate professional.

He was boring an uninspiring... they were congratulating themselves for having the same data transfers than the competition I couldn't believe it! This is not apple! They don't draw themselves based on the competition but rather the competition is based on them.

Was very disappointed, not just with the lame 4S, but mostly on the boring and uninspiring attitude.

Welcome go the new Apple. Cook was Jobs idea.

There's no Jobs clones available.

To be fair, he probably knew his friend was about to lose his life.

Agreed. They said Steve knew 2 weeks before that he was very close to the end.. once you watch the keynote after knowing the employees knew he was close.. you understand why some of the key note isn't upbeat as it could have been.

i kind of just skimmed thru most of the replies on here so i may have missed if someone else said this, i haven't watched all of the keynote, but i think some of the lack of emotion may have been that Tim and Phil both knew that Steve might not make it thru the night and they were saddened by this.

Maybe he knew Steve only had a few hours to live. Steve MADE Tim. And those pictures are terrifying, could you imagine seeing him in real life?

Tim Cook apparently knew that Steve Jobs wasn't doing very good... I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be very excited if I found out my best friend was on his death bed moments before I had to make a huge speech! :p
