Thanks for sharing your observations. Will you be going with the 38mm?
Yes, and I am going with the SS. Although the Sports looks just as nice as the SS with a Sports band, the SS looks better with the Milanese.

I'm still at Doncaster so went back, I'm undecided over 38 or 42 despite 145mm smallish wrists. Here's a pic side by side
145mm![]()
I think that 42 looks very good
Is the sport band(42mm) more "bulkier" then leather strap(42)

OMG! they both look AWESOME!
Thank you for the review, I will take the SS link bracelet !I was just at the Doncaster store in Melbourne and got to try one a few apple watches.
Here are some things you might want to know if you won't get a chance to try one on before you purchase:
Size:
The 38mm is VERY SMALL. Now I myself have a very small wrist so I decided to try on the 38 first and while its a nice size, i feel that it looks like it was made for a woman's wrist than a male's.
The 42mm is just perfect. I don't know what it is about seeing it online but they seem huge in photos. It's definitely not as big as it looks on some sites.
Bands:
I was torn between the Milanese loop and SS Link bracelet. Both of these look just AMAZING in person. The deciding factor for me is the price and comfort of these bands. The Milanese loop is the most comfortable watchband i have ever worn. Someone should make underwear out of this stuffIt just fits perfectly around your wrist no matter the shape or size and it looks classy as hell.
In a perfect world, i would own both but $1049 versus $1479 is a no brainer for me.
Quality:
I cannot stress how good the quality of this watch feels, from the sports model to the stainless steel. It just feels like you are wearing a watch. Not a smartwatch. Even the weight of the stainless steel feels like my breightling. I didn't even bother asking to see the Edition watch for obvious reasons but it did look pretty nice. Not $14000 nice. But nice.
So for me it's the 42mm stainless with the milanese loop (Even with my girly wrists)
For those who have been asking: My wrist is around 175mm in circumference and around 65mm from the top of my wrist to the bottom ( where the watch actually sits).
I'm 155mm and was thinking the 38mm until I saw your post ... now having second thoughts lol
Golden ratio can be a useful guide for not having too big or too small a watch. Take your wrist width * 0.618. That'd be ideal "height" and you can go from there. If it was me, if I had anything over 38, I'd go with the 42, otherwise seriously consider the 38. For 60 it's kind of gray, but for 65? Pretty clearly indicates 42mm if you prefer to lean large.
There's no accounting for taste though, not really, and ultimately you won't REALLY know without trying them on.
I'm 155mm, believe me the 42 inch seemed awkward (38 in white). i dont think we can compare wrist sizes to how the watch will look on your build. As much as I want to keep my 42 I'm gonna stick with a 38
Oh wow! Yes, the 38mm is without a doubt right for you. I was getting a little worried that maybe I should have ordered the 42mm. After seeing these pics I am happy with my order.
Thanks much!
This is seriously the most confusing thread around. People with 145mm in which 42mm fits nicely, people with 165 saying 42 fits bad...
I'm 165mm/50mm but I think I'll still get the 42mm one. Hope it's not too big. I have a 41mm watch and it fits nicely.
Just remember, the only part of your wrist that matters is the actual width, not the entire circumference. The flat part of your wrist where the watch sits is what determines how good it will look.

i think it looks bigger because the band isn't done up so it looks a bit dumb.
Please refrain from claiming to have a small wrist. A small wrist is considered 150mm and lower. Your wrist looks nowhere near 150mm.Now I myself have a very small wrist...
Haha! I too was just at Doncaster. I have now downgraded my choice to sports watch as I felt there wasn't a lot in the overall finish. We played with the modern band with the aluminum and it looked ok with the exception of the SS buckle standing out against the aluminum (but as they are not against each other, it's no biggy). I agree that the 38mm is small on, however the 42mm looks a bit too big on me (I have 145mm wrists). Was great to have a play, couldn't beleive I just walked in and got to try straight away!

Are the straps tied to your size or are they loose?
The straps are loose (more so the 42) but the watch itself is against my wrist.
