Matte skin w/ screen protector installed by the guys right outside the Apple store in the mall. You can't even tell that I have a skin on it! Love it. :)

I resold my mint condition iPad and iPad 2, neither of which was EVER put in a case or had a screen protector or even a smart cover, and I used them both for hours every day for a year.

Well, I don't exactly use mine in a controlled environment. I have kids. :D

Can you confirm that this back clear case works with the new iPad? Does it fit?

Thanks for your time!

It fits perfectly, I really like it. The only drwback is that it offers protection, but not heavy protections from scratches and scrapes yes, but from drops and such, not so much, only the for corners are snap-on onto the iPad while the cut-outs are just plastic that surround the ports. I will take a few pics and show you what I mean in a bit.

Versus the Leather one I own, paid about $3 for a while back I believe, some special price on it.

As well, I have a clear screen protector on it, cannot even tell unless you look for the outline of it. The screen protector does not affect visibility at all. On that clear pic, with the smudges, those are condensation marks which were exposed from the camera's flash.

I wish apple would start thinking about making there products more rugged what's the point of making sleek beautiful products if you have to cover it with some cheap crappy plastic or rubber case? Just pushing a iPad across a desk is enough if to give it a nice scratch or two.

I remember when I got my first iPod (clickwheel) I put it in my pocket all day long, when I took it out that night it looked like it was 5 years old with scratches and dings all over it. Wtf?

Everyone I know keeps there iPhones in big crappy looking cases. So apple is essentially making big ugly rubber products because they are so dainty, fragile, and scratch prone that 90% of owners keep them in big rubber ugly cases.

Apple needs to make the products so they survive a nice good waist high drop, and normal wear and tear without scratching all up .

I used my iPad 2 the whole year with the smart cover for when traveling outside the house and naked inside. I was careful of course but no problems and no scratches in that year. I intend to do the same with iPad 3.

Just because people put cases on them, doesn't mean they are fragile. They really can take some serious punishment. Much more than your old clickwheel iPod (it had a HDD! extremely very fragile, that's how mine died).

You have to drop an iPhone or iPad *exactly* right for the glass to shatter when it lands, I've dropped mine plenty of times and it hasn't broken. And the glass is hard enough it doesn't scratch easily (the camera lens does though!). My iPhone 4's glass is *significantly* less scratched than the plastic of the 3G I had before (actually, the 3G's back case had several cracks by the time I replaced it), and the metal back on many iPods also scratches easier than good quality glass. They can handle a lot of moisture too, even full submersion so long as it's brief.

And if you do break it... the repair costs are pretty reasonable. Or you can get insurance to cover times when it's not.

Your iPad gets scratched from pushing it across the desk? I've done than thousands and thousands of times with my iPad, and it only has 10 or 15 scratches. Pretty sure they're all from being in my backpack with keys, scissors, screw drivers, etc. Not from sliding across a table.

I only use the smart cover on my 3rd gen iPad. I find that it works great for me. As long as you're somewhat careful, the back won't easily scratch. I also have a small carrying case for when I go on trips... Just a place to stash my iPad when I need to put it in a bag or something.

So far I only have a smart cover and a sleeve. I'm considering a skin for the back, but my interest in getting a case of any kind is becoming slimmer and slimmer.

Me too, bought the Cristal Clear just last week, before that I used just the grey smart cover and naked on the back, but I was always "paranoid" careful about using my iPad 2 outside.

Now my mind is somewhat at ease, the cover doesn't "hide" the iPad and feels like it's a part of the overall design.

I'm very happy with it.

100% naked.

Because I only use it at home. Were I to carry it anywhere else, I'd put it in a pouch or carrying-bag, but would still use it naked. Like I do with my iPhone.

I love the feeling of that robust aluminum (or glass in the case of the iPhone) in my hands :).

For my 1st gen iPad I had a case that was nice and think yet protective, and it could flip round to prop up the iPad at angles. But if I was sitting around browsing the web and doing most things, I'd take it out and use it with no case. After a while, I started only using the case for protection during travel.

I skipped the 2nd gen iPad. I've just ordered the 3rd gen and I've went with a Smart Cover. I can rip it off as easily as anything when I want to use it "naked" as I will do most of the time, but it's a little extra protection just incase when required.

iCarbon back skin , nice with black smart cover :D

I'm not naked at the moment but when I am I am happy that the iPad warms my lady bits. :D

iPad 2 with a back case and smart cover.

bl for me. Dropped it once in my bag with the back case and smart cover, smashed the corner and screen. Only difference that day was I forgot to put it in its sleeve.

iCarbon back skin , nice with black smart cover :D

Similar setup. Same iCarbon back skin. Used the red apple logo though and currently have a dark grey smart cover. Going to pickup red one probably today.

Fiancè dropped and broke my naked 3rd gen. w/ Smart Cover (Sarah Jessica) last night... She didn't suffer, it was over quickly, but I still won't be case protecting my new one either!

RIP Sarah Jessica... Long live Sarah Michelle!

I love the names. +1000

I've been using a smart cover and front and back invisible shields. I definitely like using the iPad without even the smart cover because I do agree, it adds enough bulk to be somewhat annoying. I still like having it for typing, though.
