Hi guys, the update with a lot of stability fixes is available on the AppStore :)
[/QUOTE

Nice work. SMB shares are working for me now.

One issue-
When I initially try to log into my NAS via SMB I get an error saying unable to read files on the server. If I then attempt to log onto "available servers" and then go back to my saved SMB server, it will discover all my media for the initial connection.

I have to do this each time I access an SMB share. Strange behaviour, any ideas?

Could you tell me what server you are trying to connect to ?
If I understand well, if you save a SMB/CIFS server and try to connect to it, it's telling you that there is a problem, but once you connect to the server using the "discovered" servers it's working well and also allowing you to connect well using your saved server after that ?

AC3/DTS is not available for people in USA until I manage to find an agreement with Dolby ...

Read this on another forum regarding AC3 only (NOT DTS) "As for AC3/AC3-HD, the ATV4/TVOS carries the license for that. iOS devices do not. This has already been discussed on the Apple Developer Forums and 'blessed' by Apple." Can you verify?

Hi Sylver

First of all, thanks for making such a great app! I bought my new Apple TV 4 earlier this week and yours was the first app that I purchased for it. I've been keeping an eye on the range of DLNA-compatible video players available on the Apple TV and yours is definitely the best so far - just about every video file I've thrown at it so far has played with no problems.

Couple of things I'd love to see added to make it even better!

- A playback 'resume' option. If I stop playing a video mid way through for some reason, I'd love it to give me the option of resuming playback from the point the last playback position.

- A better UI. My DLNA movie library contains literally hundreds of movies and scrolling through the list with your app is a pain. How about giving an option of viewing the list either as a grid (thumbnail grabbed from video file) or as a two column list. Most people use these things on TVs bigger than 42" so plenty of scope for improving the UI.

- DTS / AC3 passthru. I appreciate the licensing issues but it's something you simply have to offer for your app to be taken seriously. I'm sure we'd all be happy for this to be offered as an in-app purchase.

- Favourites. Instant access to favourite folders.

Hope this helps - and carry on the great work on this superb app!

Just purchased NAStify while waiting for Infuse to release.

It won't play audio on any of the MKV files I've tested so far (video is fine). AVI and MP4 audio (and video) is fine. Unfortunately, 90% of my library is MKV. Anything I can do to help you diagnose this, or some setting I can change? I'd hate to have to "pre-transcode for NAStify" (or recode) my whole library.

@JBRDiver : I've almost finished the "grid" view of the files :) Other points are in my todo list !

@fhall1 : send me an email at codeisalie<>gmail.com and I'll give you access to the next beta version (which will be available in 1 or 2 days) which is enabling AC3 audio decoding for everyone :)

Awesome!!!!! Really looking forward to the improved UI and AC3 support :)

Btw - another feature idea. Instead of listing video files using the title embedded as metadata, it would be awesome if there was a toggle to list by filename instead. Sometimes the metadata title is less than helpful ;-)

Also, how about adding a better fast forward / rewind function? Whilst it works superbly with MP4 files, skipping through an MKV file is a slow and painful process. How about adding a x2, x4, x8 and x16 ff/rewind function?

Thanks again for the great work!

I'd love to try the next beta as well....waiting on that AC3 audio.

Thanks for spending all this time on this app.

@JBRDiver : The video player interface has been totally reworked, ff/rw will not be an issue for you anymore :) But I don't understand the point about metadata as I'm not using them (I'm only using file names ...)
@lopexo : send me an email ;)

Will the new update fix the issue playing files from a Symology with a self-signed https certificate over WebDAV?

Issue with self-signed https certificates is solved on my side, will be in next update :)

Any other beta tester having issues installing update from TestFlight?

I've just tried and I also have an error at the end of the install process ! There must be an issue on the AppStore ATM, try again later ...

I was able to install beta 1.2 with no problem.

On the positive side - I now get audio from my MKV files. But I am having major functionality issues with playback in general on all types of files. As long as you let a file play it may be OK (I did have the audio stutter and go out and not come back at the 1 min 20 sec point of one MKV file), but if you try to pause and play, or try to ffwd in any type of video file, it hangs the playback requiring a restart of the ATV.

What is the best email address to send you more detailed findings of my testing - the codeisalie address or another?

I think that my code to enable Dolby 5.1 is the cause of this ... In AppleTv's settings, could you try to force Audio to stereo and try again ?
BTW you don't have to reset the AppleTV to kill my app : you can double tap the home button and swipe up to kill apps !
Could you also tell me if Dolby 5.1 audio is working ?

I have to run out for a while so I will test the audio setting when I get back.

I know about the home button double-tap to kill apps. Unfortunately, killing NAStify and re-starting it doesn't allow video to play. It sits at the screen with the spinning spokes and progress bar and never starts playing the file. Only after a restart of the ATV will a file play again....and then it's very easy for me to hang the playback by simply hitting the pause button, then hitting play, it never starts to play again. I notice no matter where I was in a file that was playing, when I hit pause - the progress bar at the bottom of the screen always shows 0:02 (2 seconds into file even though it was really over a minute in).

Even if you navigate to another video file (MKV or AVI have been tried) it will not play. It acts like it's trying to load it, but the progress bar sits at the 2 second mark. So - the app doesn't totally hang since you can navigate the server folder structure and go to another server via the initial menu. Just playback of files is "hung" necessitating a restart of the ATV.

I remember that I had these problems when playing with Dolby 5.1 audio settings in my app ... I switched audio mode to forced stereo (or auto I can't remember) and it was working normally after that ! One of the goal of this beta was to allow some people with 5.1 install to test if it's changing something so I let my audio code ... I'll wait some feedback regarding 5.1 and I'll switch back to previous "stereo only" code ! I've also ordered some 5.1 hardware to make some tests on my side, so once I'll get it, I'll make some tests on my side without disturbing beta version ;)

Unfortunately I won't be able to test 5.1 audio until I move the ATV to its final spot in my home theater.

Right now the home theater is using a Western Digital TV Live SMP to stream video from my NAS (ATV never supported this until this new version).

So for the time being the ATV is hooked up to a Vizio big screen TV in another room and just using the TV speakers for audio.

All that said - forcing the ATV surround sound setting to "Stereo" seems to have fixed the issue I was having when trying to pause/ffw/play files!

I have noticed a couple other things:
1. Seems like wherever you are in a video file, the first time you hit pause the progress bar always shows 0:02 (seconds) - when you hit play, it jumps to the actual time, then starts playing again.
2. If you're playing a file - pause it - then hit the menu button - it brings you into the folder where your video file is, but it seems to randomly pick which file is highlighted - it doesn't go to the one you were just playing, nor the first one in the folder, or last, just seems to highlight one at random.
3. An AVI file I was testing had the audio and video out of sync by a hair - you could tell when people were speaking. The 3 or 4 MKV files I tried all seemed to sync up fine. I'll need to look at this with more files, but wondered if anyone else has seen this.

Beta 1.2 (12)

o It no longer shows the name of the app on the home screen
o when FF clicking to fast will cause the video to freeze
o Not quite sure how I feel about the new UI. Not sure why you can't just bring the old one in a little bit. The new way is cumbersome with large dirs.
