Thanks for your support :) iOS version is lacking SMB support for now, but once AppleTV will be ok, I'll add it to iOS version !
I didn't use your clock code at the end, it was not handling localised dates ;)

Looks great!

I have a UPNP Server that works well. But I have to click on it then Videos then Album. Would be nice to have a Favorite of Album to skip two steps. I think the wife would really like that :)

Also, looking forward to the DELETE. Would that also delete or not show the album if it is empty? I am using this to show DVR recordings. So once you watch an episode you would normally delete it. Would not want to see an empty album.

I've just sent a new beta version (1.2.1 build 3) which is solving this problem when playing videos using SMB/CIFS !
I purchased Apple TV App and it works well. I just got the iOS Version and purchased the remove Ads option. Would it be possible to be added to the tvOS Beta? I assume I would need an invite code for TestFight. Also, I have a WDMyCloud NAS that I am using. I have both with SMB and with UPnP. I am thinking the uPnP "may" be better. But does the file/folder delete work for both the SMB and UPnP? Also, are you planning to add delete option to the iOS Version? And like on the tvOS version would be nice to have a Favorite Folder or a Bookmark option to reduce clicks. Very nice App. Lastly, still testing but seems the iOS Version is faster at starting the video (almost instant). The tvOS version seems to take a few seconds to start.

@d21mike : please send me your email to codeisalie <at> gmail.com so I can add you to the test flight group !
UPnP is better for current App Store version, for test flight version it should be the same now ;)
The beta version with delete will be soon available, I've just finished implementing SMB/CIFS file/folder delete ! I now have to add a server setting to enable/disable delete feature to prevent children from deleting your videos :p
iOS version can already delete files, it's a full featured file management app (it can rename/move/delete/copy/... files).
Maybe there are some differences at video playback lever as they are not using the same version of the video decoding & playback library !

Ya I noticed that when i got home from vacation to try it out. I have no need for the app without that support but I am glad to support the dev with $$. Looking forward to SMB in it someday. :)

Great that you like it :)
Be careful while playing with file deletion ;) It shall be quite stable as file delete is existing since a while on iOS version, but the SMB/CIFS part is quite new as I finished coding protocol part today (it was quite simple anyway so it should be quite stable).
I did a double protection : it needs to be enable in settings part (default is off) and you have to long press for 2 seconds on a file to see the delete menu ! The default choice is also "cancel" to prevent at maximum accidental delete ...

The time is cut off on my crappy overscan tv :(

May I suggest moving it down just a touch and maybe putting it in the center ?

@Sylver78

Any chance of getting NAStify to work with the HDHomeRun via UPNP/DLNA? The HDHomeRun Extend (Plus) I have shows up in the list of servers, but when I try to connect, I get the message "Browse No file in this folder".

Thanks.

It's great to have your feeback about your crappy tv ;)
I'll move it down no problems, but I won't put it in the center, stacking text lines (with the "Swipe down for settings") is making things no clear !

I've ordered one HDHomeRun (HDHR4) to be able to correct this ! As I had to order it in a foreign country (it's not very popular in France), I'm still waiting for it, but it should arrive by the end of this week !
Send me an email to codeisalie <at> gmail.com so I can add you to the beta test program ! This way you'll be able to test the latest version when i'll correct issues preventing HDHomeRun from working correctly !

Feature request:

- Could you use a smaller font for the file name ? It still looks blown up. Perhaps printing the file name left aligned (to the TV screen) taking overscan limits into account, with dots on the right side if the name is too long, is better. Then scroll after e.g. 5 secs to the left until you print the last char on the right side. Wait again 10 secs, then print again left aligned with dots.

- Things look much improved, like the folder browsing. However, in list mode you could still opt for a smaller font and also print time and/or size right next to it.

- Do you have any plans to do meta data, like Infuse ? E.g. album art.

Just loaded and took a quick look at the latest build (5) - looks really good - nice work. YAY - you fixed the progress bar stuck at 0 (or last pause point time) - it now shows the proper point in the file!

I haven't played with file deletion yet - since I keep my library pretty up to date and need to watch another show before I have something to delete.

I agree with loekf above - a slightly smaller font for the filename when paused would be great since a lot of mine run off the screen and the current font seems big enough to be seen from about 40 feet away (i.e. way larger than necessary).

Playback looks really smooth and it handles MKVs that my WD TV Live SMP barfs on.

One question about subtitles....I tested a file from "The Wire" and the default was to show subtitles. Is there a way to globally turn that off, so I have to choose to put them on if I want them? When I put the ATV in my HT setup I will be using a Logitech Harmony remote which (I assume - not tested yet) will not have an equivalent to the "swipe down" feature of the Apple remote. Which means I'll have to keep the Apple remote out every time I watch an episode just to turn off the subtitles.

Once I get the ATV4 paired with my Logitech Harmony remote on my test setup, this app should allow me to remove the WD from my main HT and put the ATV in its place for good.

I agree with others about smaller filename font. Of course nice to have the correct filename now. I mentioned before my main problem is restart point when I leave and come back. You said you do not save the restart point but when I restart it appears for a second and jumps back to 0. I am using UPNP. Also, when you FF I would like to see the time bump as you go so I can estimate end of commercial. I only see new time when I hit select. Also, I need to test this more but I lost the audio at one point when doing REW and FF. Not sure why. I exited and came back in and was good. UPNP still works fast and pretty solid. SMB is not as solid and slower. I may just stay with UPNP. would be nice to save a folder as a favorite or bookmark.

Hey, thank you so much for being so responsive and receptive to my request. I'll e-mail you about getting on the beta list, and look forward to your update. BTW... great job so far with NAStify.

- I'll change the way the name is shown and use a smaller font for name in player, no problems ;)
- I don't wish to change the way it's displayed in list view, first line is for name and second line is for others info (size/date and any other future info I could add like resolution/fps/...)
- I've planned a lot of things, covers/albums arts are part of them ;)

Normaly the behavior is to show subtitles if they are in a separate file ! I assume that if there is a subtitle file then it means that you want subtitles to be shown (elseway delete the file), if the subtitles are embedded in the file itself, they are not shown by default (or at least they shouldn't).

Does this player handle mkv's at 23.976 frames/sec ?

Thanks
It should yes, do you have a link to a file so I can check that it'll work as expected with the files you plan to play ?

The position of the previous video that is shown is because I'm reusing the previous view to play the new video and I'm not reseting all info, so the last position is shown until the new playback is starting ! It's not related to any position memorisation ... I'll reset everything to 0 so it won't disturb you ;)

I like the font size. Why not just set the minimum scale to like .5 or something. Then it will adjust as needed :)

Just bought and downloaded this app. I use Playon as my media server. NAStify sees the server fine, and all of the files. It will play recordings made from Playon, but won't play streams.

The filenames for the streams are shown as *.m3u8. I'm guessing that is why NAStify won't play them. So far, only LocalCast has been able to.

Sigh.... ;(

This is exactly what I've done ;)

And it was working with previous beta ?

For others, I've solved the audio delay issue when selected output is AirPlay ;) It will be available soon !

That is great news re: audio.

FYI: Delete from SMB share. Just deleted a variety of files (MP4,MOV,MPG) on WD MyCloud NAS and TC.
All deleted with no problems.
