I turned off and back on the location services for both apps and both Dark Sky and City Mapper now work. Actually for some reason City Mapper had to be re-installed on the watch where as Dark Sky didn't.

Ok. Hmm anything special you might have done? Set up the watch as new? Ran a beta? Made a deal with the devil?

Sadly nothing out of the norm. Just a regular guy with no beta or anything fancy. I did have issues with it loading the location for a bit but I did a hard reset and it's been fine since

Yes I have. Also not trying to use an app that needs location services.

Hmmm... Don't know then. You might have to wait until those apps are updated again. Maybe there is an issue with the updated versions not working properly as native apps.

Yeah, I'm having issues with native apps too. I've tried just about everything I can think of..re-pairing the watch, reinstalling the apps on both the watch and phone, restarting the phone and watch...nothing seems to work.

Same here. Overall not impressed with the native apps because they aren't working for me. The spinning wheel, it still haunts me :(

There is a new category in the App Store that has watchos2 apps so you know they are all native apps
I mean, what says it isn't working? Too slow? Dark Sky kept crashing for me and then it was slow and only showed the raindrop icon but after that, it was fast and updated to show the temperature. Night Sky was the same way before it started going faster.

My apologies for not reading from the beginning if this was already stated.

For me, the apps show the loading icon and then crash. It varies for how long it is before crashing. I've tried 4 apps so far and have had no luck..Dark Sky, Transit, City Mapper and PCalc.

For me they don't load. Just spin or instantly crash.

Yea - that was what Dark Sky did for me... I kept clicking on it after it crashed and then it worked and has been flawless since then... don't know why. I can believe some apps are just bad developers. Try The Weather Channel since it is free... or Pcalc lite...

Hopefully it isn't for all your apps if you have these above.

Unfortunately I've tried all those. I've tried almost all the free ones, just to see if I could get anything to load.

The apps don't start at all, just a spinning wheel and then app crashes out back to the app honeycomb

Not to mention battery drain! I am not happy.
Battery drain is almost certain to require you to unpair and repair. I had to do that and now I have fantastic battery life again. Do an encrypted backup in Itunes so you have everything including your health data / rings.

I was having the same problem with Dark Sky and City Mapper. I tried everything mentioned here including turning off (and then back on) Location Services globally but it didn't work until I turned off Location Services under Settings in each app as seen below.

After doing this, both apps are working ok. Not a great experience though.
