Any chance everyone here was running the GM from last week? I'm having the same issue here and none of the fixes posted thus far have worked. Had this issue last week with the Weather Channel native app while running the GM. Didn't think much of it, and even wondered if this was "the bug" Apple was fixing.

Really don't want to restore the Watch and I'm holding out for other ideas. All of my non-native apps work fine.

Just tried that, didn't work

I was having the same problem with Dark Sky and City Mapper. I tried everything mentioned here including turning off (and then back on) Location Services globally but it didn't work until I turned off Location Services under Settings in each app as seen below.

After doing this, both apps are working ok. Not a great experience though.

Tried all the methods above. No luck at all. :(
Yeah same, I tried re-pairing, location services, etc. A simple app to test with is Sleep++ (a sleep tracker I would love to be able to use). No location serivces is needed, just a simple app, but still won't work! This is so so odd.

So are you saying that only us that upgraded from the Gm are experiencing the problem?

I was using 1.0.1 before upgrading today.

Yeah, just a potential theory. Wanted to see if someone who was NOT on the GM from earlier this month is experiencing the same problem. If not, that would give me more reason to do a complete restore of the Watch.

That worked for me as well. Agree that the upgrade hasn't been a good experience. It took longer than expected and it wasn't clear what was going on. It's also hard to tell the status of apps on the watch - what's native, what's not. There needs to be a place in the iPhone app that clearly differentiates native from non-native apps.

For everyone that is having issues with the apps not opening at all, I had to manually delete them off the watch by hold the icons until they wiggle then click the X to delete them, then when I reinstalled them they worked. I hope this helps!

I was excited for it to work but, alas, still no go.

You may need to install the new watchOS2 apps. On iPhone, open Watch > My Watch > "Some App" and tap Show App on Apple Watch. watchOS does not automatically update the watch apps to the new versions if you have turned off "Automatic App Install".

Share and learn :)

Umm no that's not the problem.

Thanks. So hopefully we can eliminate the old GM as part of the problem.
You can eliminate that for sure. I didnt had the GM build.

Crap I thought I was the only one having the issue. Tried everything here...still native apps are essentially broken. Anyone called Apple yet?

Probably what's happening is:
Native apps were developed with the Beta version of Watch OS, and tested against the GM Seed. Apple pulled the GM Seed, made some undocumented changes due to a bug that's yet to be explained/documented. Developers never had a chance to test against the 'new' version of Watch OS and Apple had to get this out the door.
Their hardware continues to amaze, but their software is in some serious need of quality control. I can't see an average person (i.e. someone who doesn't read MR and isn't obsessive about getting things to work... i.e. most people) making it through this experience without giving up and putting their Watch away.

I ended up having to re-pair my watch and now the native apps are working again. I did have the GM and I had an app that I was using via TestFlight that was native and DID work. It was the only native app that did. After the re-pair everything is working now. Sleep++, OmniFocus (the test flight app), Drafts, and Lose It! Oh and Trivia Crack is working now too. All native. The re-pair was a pain but I did do the encrypted back up and all I lost or rather needed to do again was re-input my ApplePay credit cards back in.

I wish the re-pair fixed it for me :/

One thing that I found interesting when installing a native app today ("ETA", which worked, by the way, including its complication) was that the icon for the app appeared on the watch's home screen long before the iPhone Watch app stopped saying "Installing...". This made it look on the watch like the app was fully installed, when in fact the installation process was still going on.

I didn't attempt to tap the app on the watch until I saw "Installing..." disappear from within the iPhone Watch app.

Citymapper native version is working fine for me. I have re-paired once since installing watchOS 2, since I was having trouble getting photos to sync.

Anyone try Apple Support yet? I'm getting to be almost that desperate, but I'm pretty sure they'll have me do what I've already done then ask me to send in the watch...

Try these steps:
* If you had the previous (non-native) version of the App installed on the Watch, remove it on the watch using press-and-hold on the launcher. Do NOT use the Watch App on the iPhone to uninstall.
* Reboot watch & iPhone
* Install fresh

This worked for me.

Nope :/ thanks though. I'll try anything short of wiping my watch and setting up as new.
