Try these steps:
* If you had the previous (non-native) version of the App installed on the Watch, remove it on the watch using press-and-hold on the launcher. Do NOT use the Watch App on the iPhone to uninstall.
* Reboot watch & iPhone
* Install fresh

This worked for me.

Just tried. Didn't work for me. Sigh.....

Nothing written here helped me either...Tried everything from totally wiping my watch, setting it up as new or with a backup, turning location services on and off, rebooting the watch several times...

Wish I never downloaded watchOS 2. At first I was really excited, but now i can't even use my favorite apps

same issue here, I tried every methods mentioned before (even disable and re-enable location services) ,and none of them works! The Omnifocus just keeps crashing! Really driving me mad...

only have the 2 native apps here but I found the new native app was not installed by default and the original wouldn't work, would just keep spinning then presumably crash.

I had to remove the apps from the watch, count to 10 ( optional :) ) then add them back again in order get the new native app. For Dark Sky, I was then getting the unable to determine location error so went into Location Services for Dark Sky set it to Never, another count of 10 then put it back to Always.

Both Citymapper and Dark Sky now work ok.

Same here. And I don't want to send in the Apple Watch, just can't bare to be 'naked'.

Has anyone successfully launched a native app? I have loaded 2 and they just sit and spin before crashing.

Was this not the bug that caused the update to be delayed?

I have the same problem. Native apps do not load (Citymapper, The Weather, and all native apps). I tried:
- unpar and pair (using a watch backup)
- install watch as a new watch
- reset iphone and/or watch
- reset iphone network settings
- reset iphone location settings
- disable and enable location settings for the specific app
- delete watch app from watch and reinstall
- delete watch app from iphone and reinstall
- delete iphone app and reinstall
- I also tried doing a force quit of application with side button

I don't want to do a clean ios9 installation because I don't want to lose my activity and health data.

I have never used jailbreak or installed a beta or GM version.

Epic watch disaster. Does anyone have any idea?

Thanksssss :)

I was able to load all the Apple apps, and Citymapper with no problem. Citymapper is not that fast, but it loads fine for me. No need to reset/repair anything. I was on iOS9 official release, and just updated to OS2 today.

I don't like to read yout post! It means is not a general problem, and it means the only solution would be to do a clean ios9 installation. I dont want to do it! :(

I don't see the point of resetting iOS? It clearly seems to be a watchOS problem?

I said that because it's the only thing I didn't try. I did all combinations (resetting, unpairing, pairing and combinations of changes in the ios location config) with the same result: all native apps crashing.

If it's just a watchOS2 problem, I hope a 2.0.1 release appears as soon as possible (like this week).

On my Watch I can replicate the problem and I can also replicate how to get a native and non-native app to successfully install, but it may not work for everyone, so here's what I've found in case it helps anyone else:

In the iPhone's Watch app, the text "Installing..." appears when you start to install an app on the watch. If this text doesn't disappear by itself before you try to launch the app on the Watch, then the installation has actually failed and the app will hang when you try to launch it (even if it appeared to complete on the Watch).

So here's how I can get a native app to install correctly:
  1. Open the home screen on the Watch so you can see what's going on.
  2. Now from iPhone's Watch app, select "Show App on Apple Watch" for the native app you want to install. The text "Installing..." now appears under that switch and the installation begins, with the app icon appearing on the Watch home screen with the "pie chart" installation progress on the icon.
  3. The "pie chart" completes and the installation looks like it finished, but in the iPhone's Watch app it will still say "Installing...", indicating that the installation hasn't actually completed properly.
  4. At this point if you try to launch the app on the Watch it'll hang and the installation will be broken, so don't do that (incidentally, if you do, the "Installing..." text will disappear in the iPhone's Watch app, but the app will be broken none-the-less).
  5. Instead, launch the Settings app from the Watch home screen. Look at the iPhone's Watch app and you'll now see that the "Installing..." text disappears. The installation has now completed successfully. Press the digital crown to exit the Settings app and go back to the Watch home screen, then tap the native app you just installed. It should now launch successfully.
The process is a bit different for a non-native app. Do the first 4 steps, then instead of step 5 above, do the following:
  1. After steps 1-4 above, on the Watch, press the digital crown to go back to the clock face. The "Installing..." text in the iPhone's Watch app will now disappear.
  2. Press the digital crown again to go back to the home screen and delete the app from the Watch by tapping and holding on the icon and using the small x.
  3. From the iPhone's Watch app, select "Show App on Apple Watch" again to start the installation again.
  4. On the Watch, the app icon appears again on the home screen with the progress "pie chart" and the installation appears to finish, however looking in the iPhone's Watch app it still says "Installing...". If you leave both devices now, after about 20-30 seconds the "Installing..." text will eventually disappear from the iPhone's Watch app and now the installation is really finished and you can launch the app successfully on the Watch.

At least, that's what's happening on my Watch and I can replicate the failure/success again and again, but it may not work for you. I hope it does!

I was about to post the same thing: If you launch an App on the Watch while it still says "Installing" on the iPhone, it will break.

Good find about opening the "Settings" App on the watch to "finish" the installation. I was able to reproduce this installing two native Apps just now. Thank you!

Excellent! I'm glad to know it works for other people! Hopefully this trick might work for everyone! Fingers crossed. Clearly this is a significant bug.

Sadly it doesn't work for me though... If I look at my watch app while installing, the "Installing..."-text actually disappears right in that moment, when the pie chart is completed...

None of my third party apps are working it is it tells me to unlock my iPhone and then nothing happens.

I'll throw my hat in the ring for native app not working. I was running the GM os2 and the weather network app would say could not find location. Updated to watchos2 last night, and now i just get a spin, and crash. tried all the above to get to work, no dice :(

Spoke to the German Apple Support now for almost an hour... They had no idea at all and weren't even familiar with OS2.... They took all my information about all the apps that aren't working and they'll test that. The guy told me he'll tell me what they found out next Monday. Man, I can't wait that long, I use apps like Citymapper almost daily and now they simply do not work.

i doubt we will see a watchOS 2.0.1 update soon. its probably at least a few weeks away at the earliest if that is what is needed to fix this issue..

I think that is a really significant bug and I hope it will be solved in a short time. Is not an usual situation, we are not waiting for a new feature, or more battery life. We are waiting for USING the product we bought. I would say it's a critical situation.
