Without a doubt the Tomtom app is the clear winner there.
I have navigon and cannot enter my home address or any address, (says no match)?
I can poi and google search navigate, but I can enter addys?
Anyone know why, or have a link to a tutorial vid?
I would guess you're entering the address wrong. When it ask for street, put the name of the street only. Not the number or ST, LN, PL, circle or any other suffix.
That was it, thanks!
In all my years, whenever I have entered my addy, I have always started with the house number, (I didn't even notice it was asking for street only)![]()
No problem, glad it worked, makes the app more useful I bet.
Sure no problem!
I've had both installed on my phone for a good while now and it's pretty neck and neck as far as traffic service. The one main gripe would be the Tomtom's inability to report traffic on the Northern state pkwy here in Long Island. I'm not a fan of Navigon's user interface so Tomtom is my go to choice.
Either one you choose i'm confident you'll be satisfied

everyone should check out Waze for the free real-time traffic. i've been thinking about one of the paid apps for a few years but never got around to buying them and with the paid real time traffic it's too much $$$.
Waze real time traffic is pretty good and worked for me. people run the app and it monitors your speed. if you're going too slow for the road then it has a traffic alert on the route.
Navigon. And I personally like the fact I can limit states now. Saves a ton of space
you should have included iGO Primo also.... it's the best for Eastern Europe. The other apps don't have complete maps for this area.
Did I miss someone reporting the MOST important thing about iPhone navigation? As far as I know, at the present time, only TomTom has the mount with the supplementary Sirf3 chip in it. That makes a world of difference in Sat reception, over and above the inboard iPhone gps chip. Frankly, I prefer garmin, as thats what I am used to, but when I am using my nav on the iPhone, I insist on using the TomTom car mount, with the additional chip, over my Garmin on board system. In GPS receiving reliability, The tom-tom with car mount, is a close second to my Nuvi, in GPS reception. I compared systems on a 3700 mile trip up to maine this last year, and in the Poconos especially, the iPhone lost signal with Garmin and with TomTom alone. TomTom with car mount, rarely lost signal, and my Garmin Nuvi NEVER lost signal. In phone GPS chips have a long way to go, to equal the stand alone's sensitivity. TomTom seems to have found a good compromise at present. After all, it doesn't matter how good the maps are, if you are in an area where you can't get a decent signal.
