Frack Texas and their horrible fracking free throw shooting. Holy crap. The players should have to walk home from New Orleans. :(

I know! Could they buy a damn free throw?

Well there is a reason they are one of only four teams to ever be ranked #1 then subsequently fall from the Top 25.

Plus, they kept me from going 13-3

The teams in this field might not be the best ever, but it could make for one of the greatest Tourney's ever. Just about every game yesterday was exciting. 3 OTs? Tons of upsets? Multiple buzzer beaters? Madness, I tell you, madness.

My sweet sixteen is down to thirteen already! :( And round 1 is only halfway done!

Thanks to Georgetown, Vandy, and Marquette. (Well... Ohio, Murray State, and Washington!)

ESPN had a great summary of yesterday's historic action.

Like upsets? Thursday's action provided seven games won by lower seeds:

• No. 14 seed Ohio stunned No. 3 seed Georgetown 97-83 in a rout that wasn't even that close.

• No. 13 seed Murray State upset No. 4 seed Vanderbilt 66-65 on a shot as time expired.

• No. 11 seed Washington beat No. 6 seed Marquette 80-78 on a shot with 1.7 seconds left.

• No. 11 seed Old Dominion upset No. 6 seed Notre Dame 51-50 in a game that was as slow as the score indicates.

• No. 10 seed Saint Mary's knocked off No. 7 seed (and trendy sleeper) Richmond 80-71, winning its first NCAA tournament game since 1959.

• No. 9 seed Northern Iowa defeated No. 8 seed UNLV 69-66 on a 3-pointer with 4.9 seconds to play.

• No. 9 seed Wake Forest ralllied from eight down in OT to beat No. 8 seed Texas 81-80 on a 14-foot jumper with 1.3 seconds left.

There seems to be one person that didn't make any picks.

I was just about to post about that. gauchogolfer sent me a PM saying he had created a CBS bracket, but didn't see this thread until after the first game tipped off yesterday. So I had him send me the PDF of his CBS bracket, (which showed that he did indeed make all picks before the deadline), and used my superhuman abilities to manually enter his picks after the fact.

What you saw was his entry before I manually made the picks for him.

Right on..

Dangling chads. gotcha!! ;) :p

OMG, Cal is up over the legendary Louisville...32-24

EDIT: Cal wins but now have to face #1 Duke. Not good.

After watching two days of the tournament, I have to officially say this: there is just too much emphasis on the teams in the Big East.

During the later half of this college basketball season, it felt like everyone was talking about the better teams in the Big East to the ignorance of everyone else. It's almost like saying, "Yes, we know Kansas and Kentucky are great teams, but let's get back to talking about the Big East."

I wish Stanford or Cal were in the same sentence (basketball wise, mens) as Kansas or Kentucky. I looked up Big East and those teams have a pretty impressive record for quite a few years. But I know Obama picked Kansas and had a high pick for Kansas State. :)

The SF area sports radio announcers are very excited about Cal, comparing them to the 1959 and 1960 team, but they are still a very long shot this year. Like I said, making sweet 16 would be great, especially if beating Duke was in the cards.

Thanks for showing up Nova.

Scottie Reynolds shouldn't have even made the trip this weekend. He was pretty absent.

Does anyone else think Matthew Dellavedova of St. Mary's look 12 years old and his mouth piece is out of control?

We've also got Saint Mary's! Glad to see them finally break through to the Sweet Sixteen.

With Cal, it's one Sophie's choice after another: root for the Bears, or root for a Rick Pitino team? Root for the Bears, or root for Duke? Guess I wouldn't mind seeing a 1993 redux, though I'll have to live with the arrogant gloating of Cal fans for a while if that does come to pass. Then again, I could always tell them that it took nothing less than a Stanford man to fix their basketball program!

I hope Kansas loses. Bill Self can go **** himself for leaving Illinois. I don't care if we got a good coach to replace him.
