i just dont like how playlists are sorted on AM. Spotify has all those great categories with sbcategories to find exactly what you are looking for instead of some endless list thats randomly thrown into the "for you" section on AM

another reason why AM sucks is shown in the attached screenshot. "make available offline" button even though it is alteady available offline TWICE???

Pricing is fine. If you use the Family Plan, it can be as cheap (or cheaper) than Spotify's student plan. Also Spotify's student pricing is US-only whereas Apple's Family Plan pricing is international. As a Canadian student currently on a 2-person Family Plan, Apple Music is cheaper than Spotify's cheapest plan ($7.50 vs $10), so that alone gives it an edge over Spotify for me.

Really it's the UI and bugs they should fix. If they can get those right, I don't see any reason to go towards Spotify. Apple Music has better iOS integration, better exclusive content, Beats 1, better playlists, and uses less data.

I don't like the curated playlists, at only 10 tracks or so they are far too short. And I agree with everyone that the UI is a complete mess. I particularly hate how the intro to.. and deep cut playlists are not on the artist page, so when looking for them again I have to hunt through the "for you" page, and I'd imagine once they disappear from there it won't be possible to find them again.

Am I one of a short list that haven't really had any issues with the interface or the experience? I feel like with all that it has to offer it's handled pretty well. I don't really recall a time where I was confused or completely lost and couldn't find my way.

I was bothered they didn't have a shuffle button on "My Music", but they brought that back so now I'm good on that front. But other than that, I've enjoyed Beats1 Radio as well as some of the playlists they have suggested for me. I don't spend much time on Connect, but I have noticed some Apple Music exclusive mixes on there I have listened to.

I will continue my subscription and I don't really see any reason not to. It will improve, but I don't see it as being an experience that really needs too much improvement.

Whatever to the nahsayers. I like Apple Music. Even my girlfriend who didn't download music at all before, now hears a song, and immediately puts it into her library–cuz it's that easy.

I spend $10 or more already to "buy" music from iTunes. Now I have access to pretty much everything I personally like.

Apple Music is a fantastic service for real music fans. Apple Music is designed around discovery, which may appear as clutter but once you dig into it, you will find music from artists you would never have heard about otherwise. Beats 1 is also fantastic. Apple acquired the perfect DJs for Apple Music. This is the first time in a long time that I have been impressed by a new Apple service.

They should seriously consider student discount option.

And what do you propose that discount should be? Should it be $7 per month? $5 per month? Not sure how going from something like $10/month to say $7/month would make much of a difference in a student's budget. If it makes that big of a difference then perhaps your priorities are not where they should be...

It's infuriating how heavily apple are integrating this music service with my own music - trying to blur the line completely. It's fine now when I search by mistake on "apple music" rather than "my music" but in a few months time I'm going to by spammed with a sales pitch constantly. It's even worse than their previous stupid decision to place the "iTunes Store" button in the same place as the back button in the old iOS music app.

Right now, I only use apple music in the same way as the 30 second preview - to check what I want to BUY is the right thing.

Can't say I'm particularly surprised. There had been a ridiculous amount of hype from Apple about this. Typically the demonstrations and explanations were 'magical' and 'this industry needs to be shaped up'.

Yes, they're right that it does need to be shaped up.

But not how they've done it. The UI is considerably worse than Spotify, it's generally buggy and unintuitive, 'Beats 1', which is meant to be a radio station just for 'music', as other radio stations predominantly play just two or three genres – yeah, nice try, Iovine – is predominantly playing two or three genres. The pricing's not that different for one user and they've got 'exclusive' artists which really doesn't benefit anybody. The music app has suffered to the point where you can't easily play music that you own.

Just to top it off, they're $3 billion down in a deal that has only gained them crappy headphones and another few stuck-up, bullish managers who are completely out of touch with the real world and what the consumers want.

Not to play the 'Apple is doomed' card as they do a lot of good stuff, but boy was this a mess from start to finish.

Where's the shuffle for My Music? This is the only thing that I was bothered by. I read it's coming but not sure with what update.

spotify simply being free on mac and ipad is why apple music never had a chance.

i love listening to whatever and whenever on my mac and ipad it gives me a chance to make those 15 track playlist and i can shuffle those 15 songs for free on mobile without having to pay a damn dime

its 5$ instead of 10$ with student discount on Spotify and i love it that way :) i can basically get two months of Spotify for the price of one month on AM

I tried it for a couple of weeks and wasn't overly impressed with it. I immediately turned off the auto-renewal just in case I didn't care for it and forgot to do so by the end of the trial. After the initial couple of weeks, I went back to Spotify and have been there since.

As someone who has never had much experience with the other streaming music services; I must say I might stick with AM once my trial period ends. I don't have the other services to judge as a baseline and while clunky, I find I enjoy the myriad of suggestions AM provides. Granted, I have over 2000 CD's of various genres and over 500 vinyl LP's-so I have a wealth of music to begin with. I love physical media. But AM makes me realize that I will never be able to afford all the vast new (and old) music that I'm constantly hearing. AM is probably my best way to have an opportunity to get to listen to the vast sea of musical genres.

I still firmly believe that a great radio station does more to expose me to new music than any of the streaming services I have used in my life.

ive been to countless house partys where the music is playing on a laptop with spotify free....the music snobs and hipsters have already put major time into making there favorite playlist and they will not start all over for anything

The interface is TOO over the place... Its so freaking confusing at times.

I would love an add based service... It will be back to Spotify for me, as I use Spotify to discover an album, then I buy it.. I can't afford both a streaming service and the album cost.

So is everyone forgetting there are about 1 BILLION iOS users? With 11% of iOS users on Apple music thats 110million. 64% say they will pay....thats roughly 50million. Well above Spotifys 25 million paid users.

Why do you think anyone is forgetting anything? And just because 64 percent of people surveyed SAY they are going to do something doesn't mean they will.
