The iPhone 4s and 5s do both have a great size. I don't have big hands and I've had a Samsung Galaxy Nexus (4.7inch) at one point and it was simply too big. Also puttting such a phone in my pocket of a jeans didn't work. It was simply too big. I now use a iPhone 5s and don't have any such problems. I love it when the iPhone 5se would come out in March if the rumors are true.

looks like those who screamed for a bigger screen and/or diss apple for having smaller screens as compared with the android phablets are a noisy minority. because after apple have given the market a 5.5" iphone, only 13% are on the PLUS models while the rest seem to have found joy sitting between 4" and 4.7". i myself like my android phone for its 5" screen and have been debating long and hard if i should upgrade to a PLUS.

I still use my iPhone 5 as well. My wife uses an iPhone 4S. They do all we need. Not sure what I could do with an iPhone 6? Force Touch it? Not worth the cost...
Same arrangement here. 5 for me and 4s for the wife. I'm upgrading us both to the new 4" iPhone as soon as it comes out.

You're not alone; I'd take the 3.5" 'perfect' size screen if they made it and those UI elements that have become so oversized were remedied to return the usable real estate.
The 5(s) may be a great design, but the long screen was always acknowledged to be something of a compromise.
Still; 4" isn't a phablet, so if that's the best offered, I'll get it.

Sorry , but 3,5 inch is not going to happen anymore. 4 inch is the smallest .

But why 3,5 inch? Why are people so hung up on that size. 4 inch in 16:9 instead of 3,5 inch in 3:2 is not massive .

And the 4/s is the greatest design of course.
It was! When the 4 was introduced, but it really isn't anymore. Stop being so nostalgic.
We want the 30 pin connector back too, instead of lightning.
And while we are talking, please release iOS 5 or 6 again! Love the filt gamecenter icon! Back in those days, there were no bugs in IOS. Now, it is full of bugs in iOS 9!
Everything ends and something new begins, and , if you allow it, new trends and designs will grow on you.
I loved the iPhone 5 design, hated the 6 design. But grown to like the 6 design, and..
I currently don' t like the design of the 5 anymore. The unibody with the chamfered edge is great! But the front of the 5. with the hughe bezels/chins looks, just like the 4/s, dated now.

Stop living in the past...

But of course the design concept of the 4 was great. Would love a new design based on the design of the 4s. Just thinner, lighter, With a bigger 16:9 screen, without the ugly proximity sensor, liquidmetal frame instead of steel and a sapphire glass back(laminated , so it will also be shatterproof .

I like my 5s. The only feature I wish it had is ApplePay. The wife has a 6s and I don't like it.

I am kind of an old-fashioned guy. When i want to do internet or movies I have a large screen on my ipad. When I want to take pictures, I have a camera that is much better than any phone camera made. The phone to me is a communication device first ... phone and messaging. The internet, email, camera, etc on the phone are just convenience items that I rarely ever use.

If the Apple watch could make calls and do messages without needing a phone I would buy one, and carry it in my pocket. So count me in the smaller is better phone category.

You should be fine with the iPhone 5s for the next 4 years or longer.

New 4" iPhone is likely to be a huge hit. I think if Apple dedicated itself to making the physical device smaller for the 4.7" and 5.5" sizes more people would have adopted them.

some customers still feel these smartphones have the best screen size for pocketability and one-handed usage.
Actually I think the 3.5" was best, but the 4" is bearable because it only increased the length and not the width. So I'll upgrade some phones in the family if they stay on the 4" form factor but otherwise I'll replace dead phones with 5S-es as long as they're available.

33% of Apple's users prefer not to get a phone with a decent sized screen on it.

Apple really does have the largest share of people who don't care and know nothing about technology. Not only that, but they're stubborn and resistant to change, which is a huge pet peeve for me in society.

Sounds to me like you got the larger phone because it was the newest, not because it solved any problem for you.
I'd rephrase your post as '33% of Apple's users prefer to get what they want instead of what they're offered...'.
Also, a larger screen is not technological innovation. It's just a larger screen.

That doesn't even make sense. The newest phone came in TWO sizes.

I bought a larger phone because I wanted one before Apple even started manufacturing them.

Please name one flagship phone that is smaller than 4.7".

I'm waiting...

My pet peeve is idiots who think everyone who doesn't like what they like is somehow stubborn or a luddite. I don't have to impress anyone but myself.

Yes, so when you're writing a check at the grocery store and everyone else is using Apple Pay or their chipped credit card, I'm sure you say the same thing.

Also, reported for calling me an idiot.

Have a nice day sir/ma'am.

Yeah, too large and way too large.

The people holding for another 4 inch phone (me included) don't give a **** about it being a flagship or not if something (in this case the size) makes it inconvenient to use for them.
If you MUST have the flagship, good for you. I don't, unless the 'flagship' can be used one handed. The problem is you try to lecture 33% of the Apple customers that they should want the same thing as you. And your 'flaghsip' justification is shallow.

I rarely write checks any more. I pay people to do that for me.

(1)Yeah, too large and way too large.

(1) 6.6/10 iPhone users disagree with you.
(2) I've seen a lot of complaining about the 4" not being a flagship with top specs.

Write a check at a grocery store... im sorry but who does that? I have literally never seen anyone do that.

I don't have to pay anyone to write my checks. I get it done for free, and that's only twice a month, and never at a merchant.

I've seen it, and it's quite annoying.

I sold my iPhone 6s plus and getting a smaller size, its just too big and more prone to falling.

In the company's latest earnings call, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that 60 percent of older-generation iPhone users have yet to upgrade to the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, or iPhone 6s Plus.

Yep, and why would I upgrade? My 5s runs iOS 9 perfectly. Although I would like to upgrade, I feel no pressing need. At this time, I'm waiting until the iPhone 7 Plus comes out. :)

iOS 7, 8, and 9 have just been that good, performance-wise, to iPhone 5 and 5s owners. Truly remarkable if you ask me.

I don't HAVE to pay people to write checks for me, but I can, and doing that gives me more time to do the things I really want to do. I pay lots of people to do things for me.

I'm waiting for a iPhone 5s size with the touchId integrated into the screen so I can have a iPhone6 size screen while I can still use it one-handed.
