NEC monitor issue with M1 MacBook

I have the NEC PA272W and recently hooked it up to my new MacBook with M1 chip. It is cabled HDMI to HDMI and USB-B (monitor) to USB-A (Mac). Every so often the monitor goes dark and then a reddish screen with jumping white lines appears. If I shut off the monitor and then turn it back on, it will work OK for awhile and then this will occur again. Can anyone tell me what is occurring and how I might resolve this?

Some users on some models over time reported if they went into the monitors settings and turned off Active Sync to fix the problem your describing!
