The pirate sites/apps still don't match the streaming services in terms of UX and speed, though. The streamers earn their monthly fees in convenience and overall experience. Pirates need to up their game!
Idk about speed! An entire season in 4K can be downloaded/streamed rather quickly actually. Just as long as you have the *right connections* ;)

Btw, this is what my pirate buddy said ;)

You get way more with the new plans than they would cost if you got the services separately. And Netflix was included at a certain point and my price didn't change at all on the old plan.
LOL! It literally says on the T-Mobile site, when you compare plans, that when compared to Essentials plan, that with Magenta " Enjoy all our unlimited phone plan benefits, plus more great stuff, like added entertainment and travel perks.", for $30 more. Nothing is free.

They could have at least bumped normal basic up to 1080p, us single folk exist ya know and don't need 4 streams. Until they sort themselves out I won't be re-subscribing.
Exactly my reason for quitting. Force people into 4-stream package just to get 1080p and then complain that we're letting others use the 3-other streams we're already paying for?

Imagine paying for a streaming service and still getting ads 😂🤡

Tens of millions have been doing it with streaming services like Hulu, HBO Max, Paramount+, etc. and even at prices higher than Netflix's $6.99/month. Many more will be doing it in the future as streaming services like Netflix, Disney+ and perhaps even Apple TV+ roll out their own ad-supported plans.

I'm not even talking about any new plans. The old plan I was on added Netflix and the pricing never changed. It was free.

I like Netflix and I have their top tier subscription. Watched ton of content and it is not even 1% of what they have. I am OK with this plan, going to use top one anyway.
I really like Netflix and am happy to pay for their top tier. I can always find something enjoyable to watch. Movie, series, documentary, etc. I simply don't understand those who say there is nothing good on Netflix.

I dunno man, with the speeds I get now I can get a 1080p film in about 5mins. Or I can download an entire series in 4k in 5 hours; real 4k, not the Netflix 4k which isn't really 4k.

It's like 3 clicks to a magnet link, it's just far too easy not to do. I do see your point though, as most people probably don't really understand how to do it/it's not user-friendly.

Imagine paying for cable TV and still seeing ads! Oh wait...

You're paying LESS to see the same movies/shows as others but with ads. Trade-off.
You're not wrong. Cable TV has always been a scam in regards to the amount of ads you get shoved vs the content you receive. I think we've just grown to live with it. I just find it funny, that the entire point of paying for a modern premium streaming service, is to get rid of ads and just pay out of pocket for an ad free experience to offset the difference in ad revenue... but instead (in regards to Netflix), you still pay a monthly due, you still get shoved with ads, and (basic with ads plan) you get inferior quality, as the cherry on top.

These large entities like Netflix, Hulu, etc have slowly eased the masses to just accept living with ads but also paying, to the point where it's just the norm. Which IMO, is greedy and ridiculous.

Paying for a premium ad free streaming service with the best quality will soon be a thing of the past.

Cable Ads actually weren't so bad at first. I believe DVR made it worse for the non DVR people. They knew people were zapping past, so they made 3x or worse ads in a commercial break. You used to have to book it to get a snack and use the bathroom before the show returned

Netflix should just come out with a FREE plan. Ads before every video. I'm perfectly fine with it, as long as it's FREE.

Doubtful this $6.99 plan will help Netflix attract customers. It’s a hope and a prayer for Netflix with all the streaming competition

Remember when we had to pay for cable and still had to watch ads 30% of an hour? 😂😂
Cable has nothing to do with it. The channels are playing the commercials. Sign up for any "Live" streaming service and you see ads.
I have nothing against ads on TV shows. It's how they are designed. Some companies don't put ads where they belong.
I don't care for ads in a movie, but that's how it use to be when movies on TV was all we had.
The ads here are annoying but I can get rid and them for $50/year.

Netflix wins if users pay more for ad-free, and they win with the ad tier that's barely cheaper. They just want more users overall.

This article point out that this new low end service needs to be better then simply use any old ads, they need to not alienate viewers with what ads are utilized.
==============
The analyst also sees the appeal for marketers. “Netflix’s growing subscriber base of more than 200 million will be an attractive shop window for advertisers and brands,” he said. But there could also be jitters ahead. “All key stakeholders will need to work more closely to ensure users are not bombarded with spam,” Pescatore said. “Also, consumers will need to brace themselves for putting up with ads on a service that has been ad-free; this will be a cultural shock.”

His advice to the streamer: “Managing expectations will be important by ensuring the right ads are served, otherwise users will cancel.”

This is the idea, introduce another plan that's outrageous in pricing compared to feature set (or lack thereof) to add more justification to more expensive plans. It's a decoy effect, like when I bought my Ultra I noticed that it has a more than a stainless series 8 I would've bought instead, for only $50 more. Apple wins either way, I get the stainless that's overpriced, or I spend more on an Ultra. But even ignoring the series 8 I really enjoy my Ultra, the price difference isn't the sole reason I bought it.

Just speaking for me personally, paying $20/mo to be able to watch tons of content on-demand doesn't feel "outrageous" to me. I guess you always have the option of not subscribing to Netflix or buying an Apple Watch Ultra if you feel that way.

You're looking in the wrong direction, I meant that the $7 tier is outrageous when compared to the $10, with my good friend Mr. Hyperbole. The $7 tier makes the $10 tier look more reasonable (it's only three more dollars!) even though the $10 tier is rather limited in reality.
