Didn't this conversation come up because Netflix clearly stated their rules?

Sending a SIM card back and forth to your kid in college or your granny when they want to make a call seems a rather laborious way to avoid a second plan...

And now it's 4 screens in the same household.
*Updated rules when things aren't going in Netflix's favor now, but guess what it wasn't an issue for how how many years now?

You didn't ask for easy, you tried to make it a point that you can't share phone plans and I simply stated yes you can with an example. Whether or not it is feasible or not is up the the (in this case) two people involved.

*again show me proof that it was always this way. #loveissharingapassword *cough 2017*
#1 No one in Florida drives the speed limit. #2 I was replying to your comment cause it made no sense...Sarcasm? Also, I have used Netflix when it was an alternative to DIVX in 1996 and then took over Blockbuster....They make up things as they go since the 90s and you know what....I do what I want, and they can with there's...not hard to set up proxies.
#1 doesn't matter what everyone does, I am proving to one person who states the legality of one thing in one post then mentions that they don't always follow the speed limit which is well the law.
#2 sure it isn't that hard to set up proxies and various other methods that will be used to circumvent the new updates TOS for Netflix. The problem is Netflix used password sharing in the past to help spread the word of Netflix and boast how many times something was watched/streamed. When netflix notices a dip in subscribers they blame the people using a password when it was/and isn't the issue because over the years until recent they had growing subscriber numbers. What did change however was quality of content which might possibly be the *ding ding ding* moment

The elimination of password-sharing is essentially a price hike for those who share their password...and a significant one.

For others, there is a misplaced sense of entitlement in that they believe that Netflix should perpetually allow sharing passwords.

They changed the terms and conditions. As Netflix customers we either accept the change or cancel our subscriptions.

I find it amusing that many of the people who complain about the change are the same ones who complain about Netflix having nothing worth watching and lack the courage of their conviction to simply cancel. Netflix knows this and that is why in spite of all the doomsayers forecasting the demise of Netflix, they're still around. They will eventually be correct one day... but that day isn't today.
I would cancel it if my daughter didn't use it at college. My 2,011 film AppleTV library is my streaming service.

The speed limit was to prove the point,.....a lot of stupid rules are out there and most people don't follow the dumb ones.

Whoah. Ok, I've missed something really important in this conversation... Was there a one time purchase for life option for Netflix that I missed?
You are correct there was not, but for a company to allow and encourage one thing so that they can build a larger base then try to milk it is the equivalent to market manipulation. As I stated before until recently Netflix subscribers were going up WITH password sharing happening and even encouraged it which is the equivalent of a high profile person talking good about a specific company then high tailing out when it is at your advantage so while their subscribers are still decently high trying to do a quick final squeeze.

it is a horrible example to prove a point because the speed limit is the actual law where sharing a Netflix password does not get you fines/possible jail/loss of a license equivalent which i guess would be blacklisted through ISP.

You've going to have to explain the relevance to me here... Netflix let people get away with sharing passwords, now they aren't.

You didn't ask for easy, you tried to make it a point that you can't share phone plans and I simply stated yes you can with an example. Whether or not it is feasible or not is up the the (in this case) two people involved.

And your kid can drive back and forth to your home to use one of your 4 streams. Doesn't have to be easy or even feasible, it's up to the two people involved.

Why would I have to prove that's it's always been this way. They have a monthly product that they promoted one way for a while, then stopped for years, then warned they were thinking about enforcing differently, then spent a year warning they would, then started rolling it out incrementally across the world and now they're saying in a month they're going to clamp down.

I'd hope your kids or whoever finished the season they were watching before this kicks in next month.

If a Netflix stream is good for 4 users, what's your problem with it?
My problem is I'm paying for 4 streams when I only need and can use 1 at a time. My problem is that my kid who's away at college cannot use 1 of the 3 unused streams I'm paying for.

Don't you have to arrive with your guest? I think Netflix will let your kid watch if they come to your house. Many memberships I've had ask for ID when I present my member card.
I may have to arrive with the guest(s). But I don't have to stay with them. I'm free to leave at any time (even after 5 minutes) and the guest(s) can stay as long as they want or until the museum closes for the day.

If I go visit my kid in college, I can enter my Netflix log-in to watch a movie with her. I'm free to leave at any time during the movie, but my kid technically, per Netflix's ToS, isn't allowed to keep watching the movie/using the service.

Got the email yesterday. I don't recall ever being told this before although I admittedly, like most people, do not read the fine print in agreements.

I'll probably just cancel it.
Posts like this prove Netflix was offering services at too deep a discount. Eventually there will be a settling of churn and we’ll see where we are.

Down here it is a very common point to use like J-walking...rules that aren't needed. Such as passwords for minors should be allowed. If this was an adult or friend....let them buy their own. I have problems when people do things that hurt my daughter!

Am I the only one wondering HOW they’ll do it? Sorry too many comments to read through if you did explain it.
They did it Canada, so can someone from Canada please explain how they set up the verification system? You’d do everyone a favor because I see so many comments here from people ASSUMING it’s going to be this way or that way or whatever way…

They said MAC IDs and IPs
