Netflix appears to have softened its stance on Apple TV integration, with some users in the US now reporting seeing prompts to connect their Netflix accounts directly to Apple's TV app.

FlatpanelsHD was first to spot the reports. The change means users can add Netflix Originals to their TV app watchlist. After accepting the integration prompt, these shows appear in the "Continue Watching" queue.

The integration currently seems restricted to Netflix Original content rather than the service's full catalog of licensed shows and movies. When users select content to watch, they are still directed to the Netflix app for playback.

Historically, Netflix has refused integration with Apple's TV app ecosystem. Before now, Netflix users had to use the company's standalone app exclusively.

The feature appears limited to the US at this time, as users with non-US Apple IDs are not seeing the integration option. It's worth noting that the functionality is limited to Apple TV set-top boxes, since there are no reports of the connect prompt appearing in the Apple TV app on iPhones, iPads, or third-party devices like smart TVs.

Neither Apple nor Netflix has made an official announcement about the integration, and it remains unclear whether this is part of a test or the beginning of a broader rollout. As always, watch this space.

Update: Netflix says that Netflix content appearing in the Apple TV was a bug, and it has since been addressed. Netflix is not adding Apple TV integration at this time.

Certainly worth a resubscribe as watching Monday Night Raw in the Vision Pro cinema environment would be very sick!

I think this is a win win for everyone (that uses the apple tv app) and the streaming services.

That's one of the reasons why I watch so little on Netflix, I just keep forgetting to check the separate Netflix app until I eventually remember. If the content is shown where all my other streaming content is shown and recomendations for new/similar stuff, I obviously watch more of it. Just stupid if you have a ton of separate streaming apps and they don't integrate. All the other streaming services I use (well most) are nicely integrated into the Apple TV app and I even get recommendations to watch new things on those streaming services. Welcome back Netflix to my streaming :)

How’s it different from using Netflix app on Apple TV ? 🤔
it will probably let you browse Netflix shows easier within the TV (app) hub. you might get TV notifications when new episodes launch/new season begins. It will probably take you to the Netflix app to watch, like most other streaming platforms (unless you subscribe to a "channel" via TV app). I do like going to one place to browse all the shows/movies to watch instead of inside each app.

WOW!!!!

AT...... L A S T !!!!!!

I have been wanting them to play nice for YEARS.

Netflix's refusal to integrate has always spoiled what is otherwise a fantastic experience in the Apple TV app - but right now im not believing it until I see it for myself.

But, I would be SO happy if this were happening.

(anyone in the UK seen this yet??)

Netflix knows how big Severance is right now, and is trying to pull users from there.

Edit: What’s so funny about that? Severance is #1 on the IMDB chart right now, it’s the most popular show at the moment and Netflix is trying to capitalize. I know Netflix is leaps and bounds above Apple TV+, but Netflix will take any opportunity for further growth.

It "works" but seems a little buggy at the moment. Besides only being able to see Netflix originals, the Apple TV app always says "Play First Episode" even if you've already watched some; when it jumps to Netflix, it plays the episode that should be next up based on what's already been watched. And the Netflix shows aren't showing up at all in my "Continue Watching".
