I don’t know if this is true. Doesn’t the TV just ask each integrated service for a list of shows to display? Not sure if it stores anything.
If they are doing the integration correctly, when you search in the ATV app, it will tell you if you watched something before. For TV shows, it'll tell you which episodes you've watched. Which is really nice when one streaming service pulls a show you can pick right up on a different service.

It's always been so stupid that Netflix didn't integrate like this. I've 'forgotten' several shows because they're not reminded to me in the up next window. We watch Netflix much less than the other streamers as a result. Not on purpose, but just because they're not there.
If apple wanted this data and to sell more devices, they should pay for it.

Comments like this make me to never buy an apple tv if using is some how so difficult to switch between apps.
They never said it’s difficult to switch between apps… (it’s not)

People use the Apple TV app because it’s so good. A lot of other streaming apps integrate with it, so users use it as one a one stop shop to stay up to date with what they’re watching or figure out which streaming services have a movie or show when you search for it.

Netflix appears to have softened its stance on Apple TV integration, with some users in the US now reporting seeing prompts to connect their Netflix accounts directly to Apple's TV app.

FlatpanelsHD was first to spot the reports. The change means users can add Netflix Originals to their TV app watchlist. After accepting the integration prompt, these shows appear in the "Continue Watching" queue.

The integration currently seems restricted to Netflix Original content rather than the service's full catalog of licensed shows and movies. When users select content to watch, they are still directed to the Netflix app for playback.

Historically, Netflix has refused integration with Apple's TV app ecosystem. Before now, Netflix users had to use the company's standalone app exclusively.

The feature appears limited to the US at this time, as users with non-US Apple IDs are not seeing the integration option. It's worth noting that the functionality is limited to Apple TV set-top boxes, since there are no reports of the connect prompt appearing in the Apple TV app on iPhones, iPads, or third-party devices like smart TVs.

Neither Apple nor Netflix has made an official announcement about the integration, and it remains unclear whether this is part of a test or the beginning of a broader rollout. As always, watch this space.

Apple is in talks to license some of their hit sci-fi shows to Netflix and this integration is part of the deal.

For a week or two, every time I opened Netflix, the guy in the poster were screaming and I had to turn down the volume every time.

Netflix is out of sight and out of mind for Apple users. The TV app is an increasingly popular content aggregator. I realized that I wasn’t watching Netflix anymore so I cancelled and I’ve heard this sentiment repeated often.

It's becoming increasingly obvious that Mark Gurman doesn't understand how Apple tech works or anything about Apple's company DNA. The guy got lucky with a buddy in a position to leak him advance plans, and built a career around it. Follow him for leaks, ignore his opinions.

Netflix doesn't accidentally build the necessary APIs into their app. This is not a bug, it's clearly intentional — made even more indicative by how it features Netflix Originals, not their licensed content. This is very deliberate.

Yes, at the very least it shows Netflix is experimenting with this, even if they didn’t intend to roll it out today.

It does keep your watch history unless you choose to delete it.

"Update: Netflix says that Netflix content appearing in the Apple TV was a bug, and it has since been addressed. Netflix is not adding Apple TV integration at this time. "

Ridiculous. This would have been a nice workaround for me, but Netflix says nope.

I'm almost claustrophobic when I'm using the Netflix app.
I can't believe the scroll view is so small at the bottom. It's the only media content app that I've seen like that, and
it's been like that since the last 9 years at least.

Oh well. I'm not a customer anymore since a few years already.
They've increased their prices so many times.
They benefit their subscriptions from being tax-free here in Canada when competitors do have taxes on their subscriptions.
They put a download limit on the first plan without even warning the users, and deleting a download does not result in getting an additional slot; gotta wait a whole month.

What kind of bug adds this in? Clearly they can do it and don’t out of spite. Netflix whole business model is predicated on devices created by other companies. You would think they would play nice.
