Don't fool yourself, kiddo. They haven't started kicking anyone off yet. Once that happens the cancellations will ramp up.
What? That couldn't be further from the truth. You're expecting a sympathy cancellation? I know of no world in which that would happen.

I shared the account of my brother. After months not watching anything i left from that share. No need to actually get that on my own...

You keep saying this and it's wrong. The same household is what entails their current business model. Not their old one. So nothing would have changed. Please stop saying that.
Citation please. I do not recall Netflix tos ever allowing password sharing outside of the household. So if you can prove it go ahead. Else it’s he/said she said.

They're not. They just changed it. That wasn't the point.
I know i know and I’m not chewing you out for it. Someone asked for a citation and you provided it. It’s just kinda funny when you think about it. Like because a company was a certain way 6 years ago they should be that way forever. People change their minds. Companies change their minds 🤷‍♂️ just look at Samsung thats made commercials making fun of apple for different things and then a year later copying them

They encouraged sharing with the household, imo, not with 400 of your closest friends.
Fair enough.

Then I and probably many others posit that the definition of “household” should include people in your immediate family.

It’s incredibly stupid of Netflix to charge $20 for the best streaming quality paired with four screens max.

They should make the $10 a month plan four screen max if they want to limit streaming to one address only.

I like the argument someone posted that this is just a price hike increase in disguise (I.e. instead of getting more flak for raising prices again, they chose to crack down on people sharing passwords with their family outside one address).

It’s maddening and stupid. And maybe make them money to stay in business. Who cares? It’s still maddening.

People in your immediate family that live with you or…people that can live 2000 miles away?

Why are we only shown new subscriber sign-ups? Let's see the daily cancellations and see the net gain/loss.

So to answer your question I copied the source article's text. Notably, cancellations did increased during those days, but sign-ups outpaced the departures.
The ratio of Sign-ups to Cancels since May 23rd is up +25.6% compared to the previous 60-day period.
reference

Since alerting subscribers in the United States that it would begin to curb password sharing on May 23, 2023, Netflix has had the four single largest days of U.S. user acquisition in the four and a half years that Antenna has been measuring the streaming service. Based on the most current data available, Netflix saw nearly 100,000 daily Sign-ups on both May 26 and May 27.

Average daily Sign-ups to Netflix reached 73k during that period, a +102% increase from the prior 60-day average. These exceed the spikes in Sign-ups Antenna observed during the initial U.S. Covid-19 lockdowns in March and April 2020. Cancels also increased during this period, but not as much as Sign-ups. The ratio of Sign-ups to Cancels since May 23rd is up +25.6% compared to the previous 60-day period.

Don’t think the definition you posit was ever the definition Netflix had in mind. But I can’t prove or disprove that.

Maybe others see it as a price hike but my price didn’t go up or down.

They aren’t going to kick anyone. If you share they charge you I think $4 extra for the shared account.

They haven't started kicking anyone off yet. That's when their numbers will likely drop.

This (small) increase in signups is just the addicts who were scared into signing up for their own accounts instead of being kicked off eventually.

Most won't do that when Netflix finally takes their access away.
This isn't based on fear ... just loosing their My List and viewing list. probably the only reason.

Many of the uptick is based on those not in their 'household' being registered as an extended household for cheaper than regular sign up. But yes next quarter will be the real numbers.

There is bugger all worth watching on Netflix anymore anyway. I am from Australia and we get regions locked out of content like you wouldn't believe. I think Australians were found to have the largest amount of piracy in the West pre-streaming. This sort of behavior by companies is only going to increase piracy again.

I miss DVD rental stores. You could go up. Spend $5-$10 to have a week's worth of content from whomever Disney, Fox, MGM, Paramount, HBO. Didn't even factor into my decision-making.

Now it's like want to watch this specific movie? Hmm, let's see what streaming service is it on. Nope, nope, not that one, can't tell if it's on that one as I am not a subscriber. Check websites. Oh, it's none of them because I am from Australia. Oh, but I can rent it from Amazon for $14.99 and one kidney (Oh, what's this? It won't play on my "smart" TV for some stupid bug). Screw all these companies. I just torrent the damn movie.

But everyone here assured me they would cancel their (well, their college roommate's second cousins) account and Netflix would lose subscribers and eventually get bought by Disney!
lolol so many people here said they'd cancel but after they took then whambulance they appear to be doing well.

as I said it before here - Netflix is a business and deserves their share.

good day.
