How many college students return home once a month? That's more of a 4 month affair.
Well my kids did. And other parents I know have college kids within a reasonable distance so they can come home once a month. Every situation is different.
You are paying more money.
His point was he’s not mapping more money today than yesterday because Netflix is now enforcing a new tos.
The prices have continued to go up over time. Premium was $12 in 2014 and is $20 now. Only adjusted for inflation, you should be paying $15.37, not $20.
The price of mostly everything has gone up, just not Netflix.
And I don't think the average person would agree their quality has been particularly high recently.
Netflix has had content that I enjoyed that I would call high quality.
Watchable, but not high. Most discussion of Netflix I ever hear come up offline are people complaining "the only good one" got cancelled prematurely. And, you know, their quality isn't gonna be much if they keep refusing to pay their writers a living wage. (Odd... They're making more and more money, but for some reason they can't afford to give their writers a fair cut...)

Also, you know, if you clicked the link you would see that they only recently started acting like this was a problem. It’s not like their twitter is ran by an intern.

That's good for them. I just find it hilarious that most people were angry and said they would not use Netflix again. This shows that they are! I don't get why people think it's OK to get something for nothing. You want a service then pay for it.

Some people are idiots, they buy $7 grande frappuccino’s twice a week they down in 10mins but one month of Netflix for $7 bux OMG 😭😭😭

If you’re not paying or too cheap then you’re not a customer, you’re entitled. Good riddance!
Some people collect Farraris. I don't care what "some people" do. Why should I?

We're paying $9.99/mo. A year ago it was $8.99/mo.

The reason Netflix is raising prices is because they're being cheated out of revenue they're entitled to by people scamming the system. It's all laid out in their terms of service that everyone agrees to honor.

I get it...you like free stuff. I don't mind paying.

The good news is you can quit Netflix and find another service.

Netflix did see an increase in subscription cancelation following the policy change, but the number of people canceling did not beat the number of new signups that the company received. Antenna says that the ratio of signups to cancels since May 23 is up 25.6 percent compared to the prior 60-day period.

Isn't it amazing what you can learn from actually reading the article (like you and I did) instead of just the thread title? 🤯 It never ceases to amaze me how many people on forums can't be bothered to actually read posts yet comment anyway 🤦‍♂️

It's hard enough setting up technology at their house. Now I have to set everything back up with their own accounts, except when she sees new charges on her own account she goes ballistic ... and then forgets ... and sees the charges again. So this is going to be a nightmare to address. I appreciate your empathy though.

Then pay for it yourself and they can write you a check to reimburse you. It's really not that hard to work out. No one is entitled to Netflix, yet that's how you're acting.

Uh no. I just enjoy the content from HBO max, Netflix and others, and I know if they can't make money, that content will eventualy no longer exist. So, if you like the content, spend the measly $17 a month. If you don't like the content, do subscribe. All I'm saying is don't whine if you can't get it for free (or let your friends get it for free).

Do you also support/encourage pirating software?

It's sad how rampant the other poster's mentality is. If the corporation is worth a lot of money, they think that somehow justifies theft of products or services, as if what makes theft wrong is that it puts the victim in a financial bind. I'm typing this on my 2020 MBA M1. If someone stole it from me tomorrow, I would just buy another and it would not put me in a financial bind, so would the thief be morally justified? Of course not. Theft is wrong because you're taking something that doesn't belong to you. It doesn't matter if the victim is a homeless person or a multi-trillion dollar company.

It's always so weird to me to see people take these kinds of greedy cooperate moves and defend them for free. Why are you happy that you now have to pay more money for a worse service? Why does this satisfy you? How does this benefit you? Password sharing only became "stealing" when subscriber growth no longer became satisfactory. Before that? Apparently, it was love...
Of course it's love. Everything a corporation says can be trusted since I know every corporation values honesty and integrity over manipulating people to make money for shareholders. I also know Windows 10 will be the last version of Windows, because Microsoft said so, no reason to ever doubt that ;)

But everyone here assured me they would cancel their (well, their college roommate's second cousins) account and Netflix would lose subscribers and eventually get bought by Disney!
A lot of people did cancel their accounts. What these graphs don't show is profit. People paying full price for accounts are being replaced by people piggybacking off existing accounts for a reduced rate. We'll have to wait until Netflix shares official earnings, but they may not be making much more than they were before they made the change, and they may even be making less.

Planning on cancelling ours soon. We get it through T-Mobile family plan as a package deal. Reason we signed up for it was, at the time it was announced, it was openly advertised as a way to save money for your kids away at school and such due to part of the deal being that Netflix traffic didn't count against your bandwidth usage before throttling. They were very open about the fact it didn't matter if it was in different locations.
I get what Netflix is doing and I don't begrudge them for doing it, but for me the service is no longer "as advertised", simple as that.
