In wonder how long it will take from now to create a paywall for recurring subscribers.

Lot’s of people subscribe for a month (free), watch a season or more and cancel. Rinse repeat when something else is new.

I’m not sure they still offer the first month for free, but in case they still do that, they used to offer only one month free; once you cancel, the next time you suscribe with that account or credit card, you’re no longer eligible.

I think that’s how it used to work. At least, that’s how it worked with other platforms.

And you don't pay a stupid tax for a 4K resolution which should be a standard option now, absolutely disgusting they charge extra based on the resolution because others don't. If you pay for access then all resolutions should be available and not hidden behind a paywall.
I'd love that as a customer but it's expectable. Considering it's the most watched platform, the electricity/bandwith cost of the servers streaming 4K indiscriminately would be pretty high for them.

Another year, another price hike. But Netflix subscribers will continue to pay up, cause they need their Netflix fix.

Netflix is feeling they are having two incoming hits, Donna and Squid Games 2. Also, perhaps Arthdal Chronicles 2 and maybe more. These titles are big in Asia.

It's always about content. People have to stop looking at these services as continuous subscriptions. Since most of the new content will be sporadic and hit or miss. Many only subscribe to see a particular series or show. Cancel when you're done with it! These streaming services bank on people being lazy and just let their subscriptions continue without paying attention drawing down their bank accounts.

Then move on to other services all the while streaming plenty of free content and watching broadcast channels.

There is more than enough GOOD content to watch without spending a lot or nothing at all no matter what they do to prices. For example..... donate to your local PBS affiliate, get Passport and stream LOTS of first run quality content free. Much is produced in the UK and other countries where there are no strikes and new shows are airing now....

Hopefully people will learn this simple, basic, truth:

10 Find a streaming service with content you value
20 Subscribe
30 Consume
40 Cancel subscription
50 Goto 10

There is no reason, other than pure convenience and/or stupidity, to subscribe to them all at once.
I do precisely this with Gamepass and Netflix.

I dip in 2-3 times a year to binge consume new content then unsubscribe.🧚‍♂️

Everyone cheered on the writers and actors attempt to get more money. Here are the results!
Nonsense......These producers haven't seen any real impact from the writers settlement yet AND the actors are still on strike!! At this point these are just opportunistic moves to juice revenue.

If I didn't get most of it paid for through T-Mobile I'd cancel.
I rarely find anything to watch on it anymore. Stranger Things
was the last really good thing I watched.
I recently switched one of my phone lines to AT&T and we were considering switching the rest but one of the benefits of the T-Mobile plan was them paying the majority of the cost for Netflix.

This price hike miiiiiight be just enough to convince us to switch the rest of our lines to AT&T and get new phones to boot.

More corporate greed. There's nothing good on Netflix besides the British Baking Show. Glad I download episodes on torrent because I refuse to pay these prices. Corporate greed has made me download instead of pay for streaming. Y'all can pay these prices but I won't. They will continue to raise prices until people say no. So, as long as you keep paying, don't be surprised when the prices go up. Would you rather a company go bankrupt or YOU go bankrupt? Let that sink in.

Yep this, binge watch the shows you truly value and learn to ditch the crap you just use as filler in your life. I'd also add 45: go outside, enjoy life and friends, enjoy hobbies, etc. to that list, you would be surprised how much less content you use.

And people will complain…. And still pay for it. These companies know we can’t live without our shows so they know they can get away with it. If we all unsubscribed, they’d roll back their prices in a day. We as a people, have more power then these greedy companies. We just never come together to use that power unfortunately
because people are stupid and have no self control. Have you been to Costco lately? Enough said.

The ad version is well priced and not too invasive with commercials. I get maybe 1 or 2 commercials during a movie. Not even close to Youtube or cable ad frequency. I really cant notice too much of a video quality difference from the UHD tier we used to have either. Good option if you need it for mosly kid consumption. As i think a kid profile removes ads as well. The rest of the tiers are crazy to pay that much for the general terrible quality of original movies/shows.

Haven't had netflix in over a decade, I used to watch 3-5 DVDs in a week back then. Now I use my Plex server, plenty of free TV channels and free movies available on it. I couldn't see paying for streaming services and still pay for internet, hell how is that cheaper than cable? Internet is usually $50-100 a month depending on speed and company you're with, now add another $10-$25 a month for each streamer and in no time, you'll be over $100-$200 a month.

So they are offering more content right? They are offering something more compelling in return for higher prices right???
