The way they are going to do that is to make sure they don't have any content worth anyone sharing a password to see.
It's not simple if members of the family move. Netflix says absolutely nothing about a family who has had an account for decades but decide to move, or send their kids to college or heck even the military. Your post pretty much tells me you live alone and families should never move if they want to keep their accounts.
They will all start doing this. Just watch Disney. It's like how one after another major sVod services (Netflix, Disney, HBO Max) abandoned free trials. Even the single user subscription can readily stop a second sVoD usage occurring at the same time. You already have too many devices authorized with Apple iTunes movies services as another example.Netflix pays for mine and I still want to cancel after this BS. Greedy pricks.
That's something you must answer for yourself.Exactly. I pay for two concurrent screens but only ever use one. If I can't give one to family members to use, why am I paying for it?
Why do you think multi-person households should get to pay less per Netflix screen than a single-person household?
Kids in college? You travel a lot and like to watch Netflix when you're in a hotel? How will they know? Go to a friends house and want to watch something? How does that work?Good, pay their price for their service or unsubscribe but sharing with those outside your household is against the TOS and analogous to theft.
What is a Netflix Household?
A Netflix account is meant to be shared with people who live in the same location with the account owner.help.netflix.com
Sharing your Netflix account
A Netflix account is meant to be shared in one household – people who live in the same location with the account owner.help.netflix.com
Simple as that.
And when a streaming company is involved in contributing that unfairness, guess what happens? I drop their rear-ends faster than you can say "password sharing."Sometimes life is just unfair to single people.
Yep. Surely they’ve planned for that and aren’t assuming we all desperately need Netflix to survive. My guess is that subscribers in a similar situation to you are expected to be written off. Netflix will have this exodus the ship will tilt and then be righted.
its not actually free though it was paid for stop throwing theft around you need you look up that definition because its not what you think it isThe amount of people bitching about Netflix cracking down on theft is pretty hilarious. You got free Netflix for a decade, and now you want to cry about ripping them off?
Sorry?
What if it’s temporary? My roommate, who’s lived with me for 10 years, is spending 2 months with her mother. She still pays rent at her legal address, with me, but Netflix is probably going to be annoyed at seeing a different zip code login for 2 months.Well, you would be wrong, people who lived under my roof shared my account. When those people moved away and their legal address changed they got their own accounts, which is as it should be. Pretty simple concept.
Wait! Are you included in that 33%?If they can crack down on at least 33% of their 100 users, I’d count this as a win.
Exactly. They have no way of knowing someone is “sharing” or traveling.Kids in college? You travel a lot and like to watch Netflix when you're in a hotel? How will they know? Go to a friends house and want to watch something? How does that work?
In general, the devil will be in the details on this one. I think this is going to be super hard to police effectively.

Similar with my gf’s sister. She’s spending a month at a time at the family’s 2nd home in Palm Desert, then moving back home.
How do you deal with people who don’t live 100% of their time in a single home? *shh* not well.
Exactly. They have no way of knowing someone is “sharing” or traveling.
This policy is going to hurt Netflix more than the current exodus.
Then Netflix will have learned their lesson. Right?Exactly. They have no way of knowing someone is “sharing” or traveling.
This policy is going to hurt Netflix more than the current exodus.
Haha! No, I haven’t used Netflix in years.Wait! Are you included in that 33%?![]()
I wonder what’s been keeping them from doing this. Streaming services like Disney+ and TV+ let you sub for one year at a time at about 10 months’ worth of payments. It would help lock in users for a longer period of time and prevent switchers.I wonder if they are going to implement minimum duration accounts... 3 months minimum and so on to counteract those of us who will account swap between different VOD services if we have to have pay more just to use our account at a second location.
You want to, but won't. Everyone always talks the talk. Why are they greedy?Netflix pays for mine and I still want to cancel after this BS. Greedy pricks.
If a hotel offers it, its ether a broader account benefit offered to guest free, or added to room cost.As someone who travels quite frequently for work, I want to know how 1) the hotels that offer Netflix will work (I assume it doesn’t count), 2) staying at an AirBNB and using their smart TV to login to Netflix will work, and 3) how using my phone or tablet while connected to a network in another state will work?
