I think it’s hilarious the number of people posting about corporate greed next to people so greedy they steal shows.
How about you just don’t watch what you don’t pay for. It’s so easy and had the benefit of a little moral clarity…Netflix you raised your prices so they are no longer worth my watching. Instead of Netflix you raised your prices to the point where I must still steak them because of course your product is still something I must watch. Pathetic.
The easiest solution is best of both worlds. You just rotate services. That doesnt help if a major motivation is watching shows when everyone else does but if that social benefit is so great then it’s worth the cash.
All the services make it easy to cancel and sign up. To stop and start. Just stop and rotate.
When Netflix is making billions and we had to have massive walkouts because of corporate greed not paying their fair share.
These services account for piracy. Because they know their model is flawed.
They account for every single thing. They pay millions a year finding out ways to offset that and they STILL MAKE BILLIONS.
Think of why piracy still exists. In places off the coast of Africa and such.
Corporations have plundered the land plundered the riches. The people of these starving nations have nothing left to loose and constantly have to take back something to even survive.
Exactly with the pirates of old. They did this to survive because of empires ripping everything from their people to push the riches up to the top.
Netflix and these streaming services are sucking the creative minds in our world dry in search of ever soaring profits and riches.
As long as entities like this exist piracy of some form will exist. There is no middle ground.
It’s not as if a few million people pirating content is stealing from writers and producers and actors. Have you seen their compensation? The checks they get for reruns? The money they make for their life’s work and continued exploitation of the work?
I’ve seen so many countless posts by creatives talking about how their work is stollen and exploited. And some of them telling people to resort to piracy.
Saying every raise in price is because of inflation is laughable. They could keep prices the same at the expense of SLIGHTLY SMALLER profit margins.
Offering content at a good price. But why do that? Their shareholders mean more than any one person subscribing. They don’t care about us, the creative teams farming their content.
